Fecal smearing and ingesting are taboo topics that often elicit a considerable amount of shame for families. We felt like it was time to give this topic some attention to those who are struggling in the dark and aren't comfortable reaching out for suggestions in the online support groups. In his latest book “Last Best Hope: America in Crisis and Renewal,” author and Atlantic staff writer George Packer argues that the country is not divided in two camps, but rather that it's split into four Americas. Those Americas — Free America, Smart America, Real America, and Just America — are separated along political, economic, educational, religious and social justice lines, and Packer notes, “I don't much want to live in the republic of any of them.” Instead, he says we need to find a way to trust one another to create a nation with the eye on the prize: to be an Equal America. We'll talk to Packer about his book.

Kathy DiCocco is determined to honor her son's legacy. Her late son football coach Frank DiCocco wrote the R.E.A.L. Man character program which is being taught to thousands of boys and girls in middle schools, high schools, colleges, and camps throughout the U.S. and beyond. The lesson plans and discussion questions are all a coach or educator needs to teach 21 character traits. Coach DiCocco also founded the H.O.P.E. Foundation for a Better Tomorrow to give scholarships to at risk youth. DiCocco is now serving as the Executive Director for the H.O.P.E. Foundation.
