Jason Wise, the director of the SOMM films, takes you deep into wine, food, and the stories that surround it. From our films, upcoming shows and great wines of the world to sports, celebrities, and major events impacted by the culinary world. The SOMM TV podcast is simple, it's about everything.
The SOMM TV podcast is an absolute blast to listen to. It never fails to crack me up and I find myself laughing every time. The hosts bring a lighthearted and entertaining energy that keeps me hooked throughout each episode. One of my favorite moments was when they discussed the quenelle plague from ma cuisine, it had me in stitches. Additionally, Steve's amazingly ironic issue with the beer-vs-cab wine pairing after demanding DRC with the salad course in Provence was just too good. These hilarious anecdotes make this podcast truly enjoyable.
One of the best aspects of The SOMM TV podcast is its ability to educate and inspire. As someone who has always loved wine, I decided during the quarantine phase of Covid that I wanted to have a better understanding of what's in my glass. This podcast has been a catalyst for me to discover a whole world of wine and grapes that I never knew existed. Through their discussions, I have learned how to taste and talk about wine, as well as appreciate the wine makers behind it. It has truly expanded my knowledge and appreciation for this art form.
However, one downside of this podcast is that sometimes it can be hard to keep up with all the name-dropping of wines mentioned in each episode. It would be helpful if these wines were clearly articulated, either during the show or in the show notes, so listeners can easily follow along and potentially try these wines themselves.
In conclusion, The SOMM TV podcast is a must-listen for anyone who loves wine or wants to learn more about it. Jason Wise and his team are doing an incredible job telling important stories and highlighting up-and-coming people in the industry. Their content is both educational and entertaining, making it a unique and lovely podcast overall. Plus, the companion SommTV network provides even more great content for wine enthusiasts. I highly recommend tuning in and subscribing!
