www.TonyTrombo.com My guests are Pete and Pat Luboff. We are songwriters, music publishers and songwriting educators. For many years we were music business photojournalists and arts administrators. In 40 years of working as a team, we have built a broad base of knowledge of the music business with particular emphasis in all aspects of songwriting and have developed extensive contacts with hundreds of songwriters, producers, music publishers and record label executives. As songwriters, we have had success with "Trust Me," the first single on Snoop Dogg's "Topp Dogg" album, "I Wish He Didn't Trust Me So Much," a No. 2 chart recording by Bobby Womack, "Body Language" cut by Patti LaBelle (gold album) and the featured song in the John Travolta movie, "The Experts," "The Son My Daddy Never Had," a charting Country single with Miko Marks, and recordings by Michael Peterson, Glenn Jones, among others. We have been teaching songwriting workshops since 1979 and currently conduct workshops in Nashville. We also travel to teach workshops. Recent cities we’ve done workshops in are New York, Washington DC, Chicago, Seattle, Indianapolis and Denver. Click here to find out more about hosting a Luboff workshop in your town. And here to read what songwriters have said about us. For almost 20 years, Pete conducted the Monday night workshops at the National Academy of Songwriters. Pete also taught advanced songwriting at UCLA for 13 years. We’ve both taught workshops at the Taxi Road Rally and screened extensively for Taxi. We also have judged for various songwriting contests, including the Just Plain Folks, John Lennon, and Great American Song contests.

www.TonyTrombo.com My guest is Amanda MacDonald with the FROZEN DEAD GUY DAYS festival in Colorado! Frozen Dead Guy Days (started 2002) is an annual celebration held in the town of Nederland, Colorado, to loosely celebrate, through a theme of frozen/ice/blue/winter, the 1994 discovery of the cryonic state corpse of Bredo Morstel. Frozen Dead Guy Days is celebrated from Friday through Sunday on the first full weekend of March. Coffin races, a slow-motion parade, and "Frozen Dead Guy" lookalike contests are held. A documentary on "Grandpa Bredo", called Grandpa's in the Tuff Shed, is shown. A newer version of the film, Grandpa's Still in the Tuff Shed, was premiered in Nederland on March 7, 2003. Other events include a tour of the Tuff Shed where Grandpa is still frozen; a "polar plunge" for those brave enough to go swimming in Colorado in early March (which generally requires breaking through the ice); a dance, called "Grandpa's Blue Ball"; pancake breakfasts; a market showcasing local artists; snowshoe races, and snow sculpture contests. Glacier Ice Cream, headquartered in the nearby city of Boulder, makes a flavor specifically for the festival (named, appropriately enough, Frozen Dead Guy), consisting of fruit-flavored blue ice cream mixed with crushed Oreo cookies and sour gummy worms. Tours of the Tuff Shed where Grandpa is still frozen were suspended after 2005, after Grandpa's family "became frustrated with Frozen Dead Guy Days", but they resumed with the 2010 celebration. Although Trygve and Aud filed a complaint against Nederland involving money and naming rights in 2005, Frozen Dead Guy Days is still alive; the most recent celebration was held March 7–9, 2014 and the next is scheduled for March 6th-8th 2015.

www.TonyTrombo.com My guest is KEVIN SPORT from the National televison show THE RIGHT PLACE WITH KEVIN SPORT that can be seen on RFD-TV! "Am I in the right place?" We all have asked that question more than once in our lives and not just when we are trying to go somewhere unfamiliar for vacation. Whenever we have ventured somewhere new in our lives and that place was not quite what we expected, we have experienced the doubt that causes us to ask the question: "Am I in the right place?" But who has the answer? Someone who has been there before. Kevin Sport has been there before. From a young age, Sport knew music was at the core of his life. He dreamed of singing and songwriting his way into people's hearts through their radios. He packed up his guitar, left his hometown of Greenville, Alabama and headed to the country music capital of the world, Nashville, Tennessee. But after some time there, Sport's dream did not materialize as he expected. He began to doubt he was in the right place and even if he had the right dream. Defeated, he came back home to southern Alabama and threw his guitar under the bed. Sport explains, "I felt that I had missed my chance because of the direction my personal life and the harsh realities of the business side of music. I should move on to something else." But the dream did not die, even though Sport may have denied it. While he pushed music away, music remained a part of him and his family and friends knew it. Consequently, those who knew and loved Sport, began to encourage him to fish out the guitar from under the bed and begin once again to share his music, not just with them, but also with anyone who finds enjoyment and meaning in music. Sport remembers, "People always asked me, ‘Are you still singing? Are you still pursuing music, and if not, then why?'"

Show information: www.TonyTrombo.com My special guest is the actor ED GALE! Ed left his hometown two years after graduating from Plainwell High School (Plainwell, Michigan) at the age of 20 with $41 in his pocket and hitched a ride California to pursue his dream of being not a "star", but a steady working Hollywood "actor". His very first experience in the "biz" was auditioning for and subsequently winning the lead role of Howard The Duck. Initially he was told "you are too tall" (he keeps that letter readily available in his living-room and often refers to it with a humble smile). Early in his career, Ed had performed many of his own stunts such as being run over by a big rig, flying on wires, fight scenes, being tossed, thrown & dropped great distances, and crashing through the windshield of a moving vehicle. However, his most impressive stunts just might be his Full Body Burns in the first Child's Play movie and his Full Body Burn while "flying" on wires in Leprechaun 3. Ed Gale has appeared in over 130 Television Shows, Films, and Commercials to date; playing some of Hollywood's most famous (and infamous) characters such as "Howard" in the movie Howard The Duck; "Chucky" in Child's Play, Child's Play 2, and the Bride of Chucky; "Birdie the Early Bird" in one of the very few McDonland's commercials in which "Birdie" actually flew; "Tasha" (the baby dinosaur in the ABC Saturday morning kids show The New Land of the Lost; and the "The Mole" in The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle. Other popular films to Ed Gale's credit include; Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, Mom & Dad Save the World, and the Christmas Holiday Hit: the Polar Express.

Her first record, The Boy With The Way, credited to Jamie Carter, was issued on Liberty Records in 1964. As Sandy Hurvitz, she was then discovered by Shadow Morton, who placed her songs with both the Shangri-Las ("I'll Never Learn") and the Vanilla Fudge ("The Spell That Comes After"). While living in New York City in 1967 she met Frank Zappa, who persuaded her to perform for a short time with The Mothers of Invention and then signed her to his production company Bizarre. Her first album Sandy's Album Is Here At Last was released on Verve/Bizarre in December 1968. 1969 she was signed by Reprise Records after executive Mo Ostin discovered her singing at a club in New York. The resulting album, Primordial Lovers, was later stated as being "one of the best 25 albums ever made" in Rolling Stone magazine. The album featured contributions from CSN&Y drummer Dallas Taylor and former Rhinoceros members Doug Hastings and Jerry Penrod. Her third, self-titled, album came out on Asylum Records in 1974. The next album, Essra, was released on yet another label, Private Stock, in 1976. During that period, she also worked as a session and background singer, for John Mellencamp, Carole King and later she performed with the Jerry Garcia Band, and recorded and arranged background vocals for Kool & the Gang. In 1982 after recording another album in L.A., she worked with McFadden and Whitehead in Philadelphia, penning "Not With Me" for their Capitol album, Movin' On. She released another solo album, E-Turn, before Cyndi Lauper had a big hit with her song "Change of Heart" in 1986.
