Today I'm visiting Beech, in the county of Hampshire in south-east England to connect with our guest Mr David Roy-lance. David challenges all of us to think about how many of us feel we are really being paid the level of our worth, or value? And how many of us feel like the world's best kept secret? He then offers a little reality check by adding that we are all paid to the level of value that other's perceive in us. So who is David Roy-lance? Well he's an Amazon best selling author, award winning coach and the CEO of 2 businesses and provides business support to several others. He is Europe's No 1 smasher of the glass ceiling. His client base is typically women in senior roles in large corporates who find that the strategies they used to get the role they have now are not helping them get further up the management chain. What they get from David are the secrets of how your voice and body resonates so you can show up and shine. In December 2020 David was recognized as one of the top 40 influencers in the world by the Women in Banking and Finance Group for his assistance in helping women get promoted into the board room. His career began working as a professional actor and theatre director working alongside notables such as 007, Obi Wan Kenobi and the character Sergent Nicholas Brody of Homeland. While at drama college he met his first real mentor, Patsy Rodenburg, the world's no 1 voice coach, who helped him understand the power of the voice. Since that time David has accrued over 20 years of experience working with FTSE 250 companies, SMEs, entrepreneurs and charities. Aside from fast tracking woman onto Boards such as the RBS, his teaching skills have allowed executives to double their income within a week of intervention. He has also worked with Board room executives from Barclays, Standard Life and Coutts. He has delivered courses for staff at HSBC, Macquarie Bank, Zurich Insurance, American Express, Orange, Aviva and Turner Entertainment. David identifies 3 pillars as central to creating impact… “Posture, Voice and Energy” TEAM ET you may not be ready for it, but I even try my hand at a little piece of Shakespearean theatre. This is a fun conversation that explores how the world of drama entwines with the world of business So please join David and me as we discuss executive development techniques and David's book - “Be Seen, Be Heard, Get Paid What You Are Worth: From Invisible to Superstar” Visit our website to access the full transcript, episode notes, and guest links - Coaching 4 Companies

Today, we're unfurling the scrolls of one of the most provocative, scandalous, and riveting novels to ever emerge from China's Ming dynasty: "Jin Ping Mei," or as it's tantalizingly translated, "The Plum in the Golden Vase." This novel is not just a story; it's a journey into the opulent, and often morally ambiguous, world of 16th-century China. We have the esteemed Dr. Junjie Luo, associate professor in East Asian Studies at Gettysburg College, joining us in the studio. Dr. Luo, with his vast knowledge of Chinese literature and culture, will help us unravel the complex narrative threads and uncover the hidden pearls within this golden vase of a novel.Reading Recommendations:Lanlingxiaoxiaosheng, The Plum in the Golden Vase, trans. Point of contact for the Fresk in Quebec, he explains how this collaborative, scientific, and “serious” game helps us, through its reliance on collective intelligence, to better understand the systemic dimension of biodiversity loss and its impacts. “It's increasingly rare, it seems, to take the time to really sit down and talk about solutions together (...). That's the beauty of this game, which invites us to enter into a relationship with the other⎯and the living."—David RoyDavid Roy works with over fifty volunteer facilitators to raise awareness of biodiversity issues. He is also the founder of the organization Ateliers pour la biodiversité, whose mission is to better integrate biodiversity into organizations. His dream? A society whose every decision takes the natural world into account. Want to know more about how “Fresks” can pave the way for change? 29 426 A.V. J. -C.

You're listening to the Westerly Sun's podcast, where we talk about the best local events, new job postings, obituaries, and more. First, a bit of Rhode Island trivia. Today's trivia is brought to you by Perennial. Perennial's new plant-based drink “Daily Gut & Brain” is a blend of easily digestible nutrients crafted for gut and brain health. A convenient mini-meal, Daily Gut & Brain” is available now at the CVS Pharmacy in Wakefield. Now for some trivia. Did you know that Westerly native, David Roy Gavitt was an American college basketball coach and athletic director at Providence College? He was also well known as the first commissioner of the Big East Conference and as part of the committee which created the 1992 Olympic basketball "Dream Team". Now for our feature story: The Town Council is expected to select an option for dealing with the dam that crosses the Pawcatuck River at the Potter Hill Mill on Monday. The dam that once harnessed the energy of the river to run the mill was rated as being in poor condition by Fuss & O'Neill, an environmental engineering firm hired under a under a three-year grant secured by the town from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The grant's primary focus is improving fish passage along the river where several other impediments have been removed since 2005. The river is described in a preliminary report by Fuss & O'Neill as "a regionally significant river system for diadromous fisheries, including Atlantic salmon and American shad, and may also have historically supported a significant migratory brook trout population." Other migratory fish known to use this system, according to the report, include alewife, blueback herring, rainbow smelt, sea-run brown trout, as well as the American eel. The grant application calls for removal of the dam but members of the council, after hearing from residents who live on the river in both Westerly and Hopkinton, have discussed a less-intensive approach that would lower the dam and maintain the river's depth and width. The residents have complained that complete removal of the dam would devalue their property by transforming their riverfront views into mudflats and vegetation. Several of the residents are also concerned that compete removal of the dam would cause their shallow-point drinking water wells to fail. Fuss & O'Neill staff have acknowledged the potential effect on the dams and have said funds from future years of the grant could be used to replace the affected wells prior to the dam being removed. For more about the coronavirus pandemic, the recovery, and the latest on all things in and around Westerly, head over to westerlysun.com. There are a lot of businesses in our community that are hiring right now, so we're excited to tell you about some new job listings. Today's Job posting comes from Crimmins Residential Staffing in Westerly. A couple in Watch Hill is looking for a part-time housekeeper. Pay is $35 per hour and you'll work there 3 days per week in season and one day per week during the off-season. For more job requirements, check out the link in the description: https://www.indeed.com/jobs?l=Westerly%2C%20RI&mna=5&aceid&gclid=Cj0KCQjwpf2IBhDkARIsAGVo0D2S3gEb-328GyRpBuTTeeKPdn3-klOh0KYAsfete6MEZmI5S4qTg-4aAnQkEALw_wcB&vjk=028da372fc87d663 Today we're remembering the life of Barbara Barbone. As a child of the depression, she moved from Pawcatuck to Glasgo, CT to live on the family farm where she began her love of jelly donuts. She spoke often of the fun times and lessons learned at the one room school house. Returning to Pawcatuck, she graduated from Stonington High School as a member of The National Honor Society. Her passion for education led her to UCONN where she joined Kappa, Kappa Gamma Sorority and completed her bachelor's in teaching at Central CT Teachers College in 1950. Babara taught her whole life, retiring from West Broad Street School as a kindergarten teacher. Babara enjoyed family, friends, a good book and her beloved cats. Her door was always open to accept visitors. She never turned down a trip to DQ or Buttonwoods for ice cream. She enjoyed sitting in the sun watching the birds, her gardens and wildlife. A life well lived with many lessons taught to family, friends and students. Just remember when we meet again to bring the sweets, she will have the coffee waiting, and her lipstick on. She was predeceased by the love of her life Anthony Thomas Barbone, Jr. She is survived by three children, and three grandchildren. Thank you for taking a moment with us today to remember and celebrate Barbara's life. That's it for today, we'll be back next time with more! Growing up in the hills of Tennessee, David never thought he would have the opportunity to have clients earning generational wealth. Robert Kyosaki, the Rockefellers are only two of David's master list of billionaires who have benefitted from his insights and knowledge. His market research uncovered a gap in the wealth-building process in which the founder will make the money and within one generation, the second generation, 76.5% of the time the money is lost. If the money makes it to the third generation, 92.5% of the time that generation loses the money. Studies show there is a 7% success rate of the money made actually improves their families beyond two generations. Through studying King Solomon's wisdom, Solomon was worth $4 trillion in today's money. The study allowed me to transform my family legacy from abuse, murder and adultery to one of affirmation and skills transfer in empowerment. Out of this, the Solomon Wisdom Society was born transforming my family legacy. The Solomon Wisdom Society is designed to address the number one challenge billionaire families face that is not being helped by other groups. Estate planning, succession planning are great for the money and the business. A variety of groups focus on the wealth built by founders but none help this family with what matters most and that is their families. The number one asset that is being overlooked is their families. How do we help billionaires strategically pass on their values and skills to the next generations? The Solomon Wisdom Society helps billionaire families strategically implement King Solomon's wisdom in three key areas: Family, Skills transfer in business, and social impact with Return on Investment. https://app.box.com/s/fdysj76tv64ng2c4lg3msl5mcpis9hct Keywords: Wealth creation Wealth generation Return on investment Skills transfer Social Impact Billionaires Billionaire families Values Skills Wealth transfer
Crail Golfing Society is the seventh oldest club in the world. It plays host to thousands of visitors every year – enchanted by the stunning sea views on the Fife coast and a Balcomie layout designed by Old Tom Morris. But while, domestically at least, the coronavirus pandemic has handed golf a most unlikely fillip, for those courses and businesses that rely on international tourism, the reality is somewhat different. In a House of Commons debate, North East Fife MP Wendy Chamberlain outlined the bleak prospects that could await if tough international travel restrictions are still in place this summer. She revealed that Crail Golfing Society lost £600,000 in visitor revenue last year, so Steve Carroll is joined on the NCG Podcast by the club’s manager, David Roy, to give a fascinating insight into how they are surviving the pandemic.

David Roy Newby is the Owner and Manager of Legacy Builders, where he coaches successful entrepreneurs on how to maximize their legacy with their family, business, and charity work. His book, Beyond Billions, wields the wisdom of the ancient King Solomon to help business leaders create a legacy of multi-generational wealth and success. In addition to his coaching work, David is also the Founder of Solomon Wisdom Society (SWS), the most exclusive club for billionaires globally. In this episode… Do you want to use your business to build a legacy that lasts? According to legacy coach David Roy Newby, this is more challenging than it seems, even for the most successful entrepreneurs. Today’s billionaires have a 97% chance of losing all their wealth by their grandchildren’s generation. So, what is the key to establishing a long-lasting, multi-generational legacy of success? As David says, it’s all about creating a culture of affirmation. After engaging with hundreds of billionaires and growing his own business from the ground up, David has discovered that the best investment is always family. By affirming your children and grandchildren, you can empower them to uphold and sustain your legacy of success for generations to come. David Roy Newby, a renowned legacy coach, joins host Dan Kuschell in this episode of Growth to Freedom to talk about building a legacy that lasts. David shares how to avoid the long-term failure rate that most billionaires face, the importance of being yourself when making business connections, and his tips for balancing entrepreneurship with parenthood. Stay tuned!

By any measure, David Tod Roy‘s translation The Plum in the Golden Vase or, Chin P’ing Mei, Vol. 1-5 (Princeton University Press, 1993-2013) is a landmark achievement for East Asian Studies, translation studies, and world literature. Comprising 100 chapters rendered across five volumes, including more than 800 named characters and supported by more than 4,000 endnotes, Roy’s work is a massive accomplishment of textual analysis, writing, research, and translation. Luckily for readers, it’s also a huge pleasure to read. If you, Gentle Reader, are anything like me, you will regularly pause in your poring over the pages of The Plum in the Golden Vase to admire the subtlety and deftness with which Roy has chosen render vernacular Chinese into corresponding English prose, whether one of the characters is claiming to be “a real dingdong dame” or another is being called a “ridiculous blatherskite.” (Blatherskite!) Yes, there is a great deal of explicit sexual description in the work, but it’s a treasure-house of so much more than that, including detailed descriptions of aspects of daily life in the late 16th century that cover everything from food preparation to medicinal recipes to funerary procedures. It was a deep honor, and a pleasure, to talk with David Roy about his masterwork. I hope you enjoy listening to him and reading his translation as much as I did. Learn more about your ad choices.
