The Mental Edge Podcast is an incredible source of motivation and inspiration for anyone looking to improve themselves as a man. From the very beginning, this podcast has kept me engaged, intrigued, and motivated to be a better person every day. Jay and Fernando, the hosts of the show, consistently put out positive energy into the universe through their daily actions and habits.
One of the best aspects of The Mental Edge Podcast is the wealth of knowledge and wisdom shared by Jay and Fernando. Jay has been a mentor of mine for over 10 years and has helped me see the positive side of life even in the darkest times. His insights and experiences have truly shaped my perspective on life. On the other hand, Fernando has become a mentor to me over the past year with his frequent messages that have improved my quality of life in various aspects. Together, their conversations flow effortlessly and are incredibly inviting.
Furthermore, this podcast is not just for men but also provides valuable insights for women who want to understand the mindset of seasoned men who have lived and learned from life's experiences. It offers a unique perspective that helps listeners grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
However, one potential downside to The Mental Edge Podcast is that it may not appeal to everyone's taste or resonate with those who are not interested in personal development or self-improvement. While it is an excellent resource for anyone looking to improve themselves as a man or woman, it may not cater to those seeking entertainment or light-hearted content.
In conclusion, I highly recommend subscribing to The Mental Edge Podcast if you are looking to be informed, inspired, empowered while hearing honest conversations between two genuine men. This podcast provides valuable insights into personal growth while maintaining a sense of humor that makes it easy and enjoyable to listen to. Jay and Fernando are not only great hosts on this podcast but also incredible individuals whose positive impact extends beyond their digital platform.

Thanks to our listers we are about to cross over the 10,000 listen mark. Yeah, it's a really big deal..at least it is to us.Are we famous? Not exactly. Do a simple google search and you will find that we fall a little short of Joe Rogan status. So why do we do what we do? It's simple, it makes us feel relevant to talk men about life and at just the right moment...you great people reach out and tell us we matter. We really don't need much more than that to keep going. What do you do that makes you feel like a man? We can't wait to hear about it.
Fernando and Jay talk about Jay's life of crime. It's an all out confessional. Now full disclosure, the lesson here isn't really about being a candy snathcer! It's about how the presence of security in your life facilitates the lack of scarcity. So sit back and shove a little fun size candy bar in your mouth while you shove this episode in your ears and in your spirit!
Fernando and Jay talk about a phenomenon known as God Math. You heard it right. Not Trigadumetry or Advance Calcubutz, we are talking about the devine often unconventional way God takes what seems impossible and metaphorically and even sometimes literally, feeds the masses. So strap in, pluck in those ear buds, grab a note pad and pencil and we promise, this aint no "arithmatrick", nope! This is the type of multiplication that matters!
This coversation between Fernando and Jay was the result of overhearing somebody saying this all too common phrase: "I can't believe you are doing this to me after all I have done for you!"Don't get us wrong.... We're fairly certain that we all might have said this or thought this at some point in our lives but..Ultimately, it's a glimpse into a flawed philosophy. The belief that your kindness somehow creates a debt that will always be honored. When in fact, if your motivation for doing good things is in the expectation of recipricahol love...we are so sorryPlease prepare yourself for massive dissapointment. Instead remember, do all things as if you are doing them for the Lord...because you are. And he never lets you down even though he doesn't keep score. So eavesdrop in on Fernando and Jay and let us know what you think. Now don't be a chick'n, get ta click'n
In a world that caters to feelings does the truth even still matter?Listen to Fernando and Jay talk about their perspective on the Feelz Vs Realz debate. So let this episode be the truth you invest in for the next 32 minutes. And don't be shy, let us know how you “feel” about it.
Fernando and Jay discuss a relational dynamic that is poisonous for men to be in.Based on overhearing a conversation in the parking lot this topic was catapulted to the forefront of our podcast line up. That right, what dynamic would enable a fully capable middle age man to be talked down to like a child…..Its typically, a dependency issue. Does somebody you depend on treat you badly? And do you feel helpless…What can you do about it?The hard truth is: Ur Gonna Haft Get Off Da Nipple!

Leah Peksenak is quite simply, an awesome human and her interview as our 6th incredible woman will not disappoint. We met Leah on the set of a local Charity Event known as “Listen to your Mother”. Ladies and Gentleman, The MentalEdge would like to introduce you to the Alpha Queen of CreataSpacePlace....Missy WacaseyFernando and Jay are dedicating the next 7 episodes to women who have inspired them.First up. A lady that has inspired so many, Missy Wacasey. Whats so impressive and inspirational you might ask....How about the fact that she's a real deal USW Local 1011 Steel Worker and has been for the past 24 years. Using a torch as tall as her to scarf cracks out of steel slabs. Yeah that's her daily lineup! How about that fact that she doesn't just run an occasional marathon, she has actually completed a 52.6 mile trail run in the Black Hills of South Dakota...you know, just your average 14 hour race at elevation running on trecherous ATV trails...a real stroll in the park right. Fernando and Jay discuss the value of taking a break from perceived need. Jay is about to take the next weeks and dedicate one day each week, to a complete food and social media fast. What day?...MANday of course. Fernando has a private commitment he will fill you in on in the coming weeks as well. How do you make Monday even more of a MANday in MentalEdge land. You deny yourself the things you have been taught you're supposed to need and tell the Creator that you have purposely turned down the noise and the distractions in order to hear from him more clearly. We believe that this discipline and intent will result in parallel benefits. More focus, a better physical well being most importantly, a deeper relationship with God. But we shall see. In typical MentalEdge fashion, we will be courageous enough to be honest. Was it worth it. Only time (8 weeks of time) will tell.So dont be shy...Tune in to gain a deeper understanding of the Goal. Tune in to learn what it means to "Turn Down to Turn UP."
Very few things in life turn out the way they were first perceived. The laws of attraction are no different. In-fact, you come to the realization as you grow wiser that although looking great is for sure an initial igniter, it really won't keep the home-fire burning all by itself. So in the end, being sustainably attractive has a lot to do with who you are as human. Are you dependable, supportive, a pleasure to be around? Do you care enough about your self to eat well, take care of yourself and not be a slob? Men do you smell good, dress nice and are you a lifetime learner who is always up-skilling? Are you kind? Can you respectfully stand your ground? We hope you said yes to all of these things because if you did, you are not only attractive...you are attracting the right people. Now get to click'n and have a listen!
Occasionally you will find a creative person at the top of the hottest, trend setting company. When they are fortunate to attain a position at the top they typically receive accolades for being out of the box thinkers and genius's.But what separates them from the "creative" people who never seem to make any progress? The difference is the adoption of the disciplines that the rest of the world deems as reliable and trustworthy. As we progress toward sustainable personal growth in the new year we must learn to do the productive things that demonstrate we are dependable to the masses. You are not selling out my friends...you are helping them, buy into you! Don't be afraid to adopt the disciplines that speak so prominently to world and then, when the time is right to shine...let your creativity separate you from the rest of the pack! And it will!
Bob Ownen's story is amazing. His life long passion for the court and his ability to be resilient despite his surroundings and early limitations, pushed him naturally toward the development of a renowned and effective shooting system. One that has awarded him 10 World Medals. A system of sequence that is as much about life as it is about swishes. His highly effective system is about to be packaged in a convent learning experience for the public but before that happens..here is your opportunity to listen to the wisdom Bob Owen purchased with his life long grind. The Bob Owen Origin Story, Environment, Ingredients and Sequence!
Do dads matter? They do! And Fellas, listen up, you are about to listen to some startling statistics that support the need of your presence in your Childs life. So many moms have held down the double role for too long. Honestly, no matter what the situation is...a day-in and day-out relationship with your Daughter or Son is worth the effort. There are critical roles in the family hierarchy that you were always meant to fill. Its not like the ladies won't hunker down and fill your role, it just as simple as this..nobody is better at being dad, than dad is. So click that link. You deserve to be reminded how much you matter. The question is...what will you do with your new found confirmation?
It' all said and done, right? You're just waiting for that final official legal notification that comes in the mail. You are officially divorced. Most will tell you that this letter arrival was a liberating moment. But Fernando and I would like you to know that it's ok if at first its not so celebratory and instead feels a little like a surreal low moment. And even though its considered final in the eyes of the court, what's separated on paper isn't always as separated in our hyper connected world. How do you manage the friends you had in common? How do you mange the Children you both love and must co-parent together...doesn't sound so "separated and final" after all does it? Don't worry, its a little messy but, we made it..and so will you.Have a listen and dont forget to like...and share!
The course of Divorce part 2, Order in the court. Here we go..I hope you landed yourself a real Perry Mason cuz you gonna need it. All kidding aside, we hope that all litigation regarding the dissolution of your marriage will be cordial and fair...but we also want you to know, thats typically not the game plan formulated against you by your soon to be ex's attorney. They're in it to "win it" if there is such a thing in divorce. The best way to be the winner in court is to paint your opponent as the looser. At least thats what the world thinks. It's going to feel like a personal attack at the worst time in your life. Because it is. It's not going to be easy but, its right here where you need to be resilient. This might get ugly..but your not about to go there. Nope, the new you knows you have a future and that future is too valuable to allow yourself to be manipulated by a professional arguer. Dont take the bait. let's get to talking about it.
Full disclosure, this is not an episode about reconciliation. Although we will usually give the advice that you should always try to save your marriage, this is not an episode about that...for the sake of this conversation, we are going to say.."that ship has sailed".In addition this is not an episode where you'll hear two previously divorced men, bash their ex-wives. As Fernando would say..."we don't sip that poison".This is an episode where we acknowledge the many emotions you will feel during the process of divorce. This is an episode where we acknowledge that in the middle of divorce you feel like peace in you life is impossible and you feel like loneliness is inevitable and unbearable. But this too shall pass my friend. This is an episode where we share the actions with intent and the thoughts that ultimately helped us through that journey. Where we detail the behaviors that we think will help you heal. And guess what...this is just part 1
Have you ever felt like it was time to make a move? Have you ever felt like you were no longer in love with what you do for a living? No longer loving your living is a tough place to be.....What did you do about it?Career transitions can be scary to say the least. Sometimes it's the fear of financial in-stability that keeps you on lock down. Sometimes its the lack of personal confidence. But once in a while, a courageous career transition story comes along to inspire us. This is a story you deserve to hear and its only a click away.Pay close attention to the foundational elements that gave Scott Miller the desire and the strength to make a world class transition to a completely different career. Your gonna love this story and when you do...remember to like and share.
Sometimes Fernando and I like to have a little fun. Cut it up as they say...So, we asked the question to some of our Social Media Friends. What are some things that you just don't do? Here's a few.Yes of course that Rhymes...just like the little ditty at the end of the episode. Some of our gracious friends responded. Were you one of them? Your gonna hafta listen to find out. So dont be a chicken and get ta click'n
Anger is a natural response to injustice. However, it often results in uncontrollable responses that evolve into regret. But it doesn't have to be that way.Is it possible that anger can be used for construction instead of destruction? Of course it is. Remember it's not the fuel that is the problem, it's how we choose to burn it. Anger can be motivational propellent or catastrophic combustion. Its up to us!So make the decision to be in charge of your emotional response toward being angry. Listen to Jay and Fernando put it into perspective.
This is why we do the MentalEdge Podcast. We sat down to interview an Amazing Christian Rap Artist, “Butta the Preacher” AKA Michael Watson and what does he do right after we hit record. Butta bowed his head and said a thankful prayer to the one true King. He didn't waste time asking if we wanted to pray. We just got to pray'nWhy, because he knows every day is a gift. He knows that every opportunity to shine for the father should not be dismissed as coincidence. Each and every moment we are chosen to represent the Lord is an honor a privilege and a blessingButta the Preacher has a lot to be thankful for. In this interview you will get a glimpse of his amazing story. We thank we captured it all but don't worry if we missed a detail or two..why?...because the movie, yes I said the movie for realz is in pre-production right now. The Movie is scheduled for release in February of 2023 but you can stream his amazing music right now. In fact, his newest single “Crazy About God” CAG is storming up the charts as we speak. There is so much more to this interview so don't wast another minute, just click that link to tune inDon't forget to like and share.
The Question is..."Can your Future shape your past?" Fernando and I believe it can. We have one request, don't try to answer the question until after you listen to the Episode. Then please, let us know what you think! Remember...if you like what you heard. The most flattering thing you can do is like and share!
3 Awesosme people spent time with us last Thursday.Carter, a young man who explained to us how his Grandfathers stories intrigued him into becoming a military historian.Ms. Pauletta Washington from Polly Ann Cakes, who's personal poundcake, and signature ouey gooey Cakes will make your heart skip a beat and your head spin. To our Friend Rianna whose grandparents love of vintage cars has fueled her desire to consume podcasts that go in to great detail bout the restoration process. We loved connecting with people at the market and we loved the way these much deserved good people got a chance to step up to the mic and made the most of it!
The verdict is in, people are awesome. To prove this Fernando, Jay and Missy set up tent at Hobart's Amazing Thursday Night Summer Market to share the news that an incredible new business has arrived in Hobart (CreataSpacePlace and the MentalEdge Studio) and to randomly interview anybody who was game. The Night was full of great conversation and a little surprise for old Jay. Somehow I "accidentally " witnessed my youngest son land his first Kiss. Or at least I saw it get landed on him. Thats his story anyway.Let's just leave it at that. Tune it to find out all about it!Check it out..Now get to click'n
Fernando And Jay get to talking about how you can sometimes get caught up in believing that you whole life aught to look like a non-stop highlight reel of incredible events. It's a silly un-realistic fantasy that can make you feel like you're not succeeding. The truth is, Whether it be Netflix and Chill leisure or mountain top victory, those moments are only a tiny percentage of your life. You have to do battle with your mind and your social media feed to in order to not be fooled by the silly notion that your life should be filled with non stop leisure and constant success...nope, passive my assive. To legitimately even have a few, your gonna hafta get it!In fact, the rarity of those moments is what make them speicial. So don't sip that poisonous cool aid..not only are you making it, your killing it. And those moments are going to come but make no mistake....for the real hardworking, progress sustaining, men and women...your going to have to earn'em!
Have you ever been asked to speak in front of a crowd? The mere mention of public speaking can tie your stomach up in knots. Sometimes it's not that pivotal though. So it's not a big deal when you say "no, no, that's ok..pick somebody else".But there are Occasions in a mans life where it is his duty to "take the mic". Its not about notoriety, its about there being no other human on the planet but you who is supposed to honor this person. In this Moment, as much as there might be doubt and fear in your gut you will notice that those emotions will be competing with an overpowering sense of duty as well. It's in these special times that we must make sure we heed the calling. Why? because you were made for such a time as this and the person you love deserves to know, feel and experience the depth of your love. Only you can deliver it. So get to deliver'n
Dana's story is extraordinary, He is a highly accomplished and Intelligent man who has decided to live a life of discipleship. His ministry is far from conventional. Dana's calling is to help people discover a deeper relationship with Christ and he does this by waiting for an invitation and then embedding himself with the person in need who desires that deeper relationship. Why embed, because as Dana says "to see the root of the problem you need more than an hourlong superficial connection". You need a companion in Christ who is accessible. So move on over, here comes Dana. To accomplish this Dana knew he needed to be free. So he began to shed all of his worldly possessions which often saddle us with debt. He knew that his new superpower would be his availability and it could be purchase by shedding financial burdens. He and his wife have done incredible things for the Kingdom but despite engaging in personal asset sacrifice and letting go of material things Dana felt like something still had a hold on him. We're not gonna steal that thunder though, we'er gonna let Dana drop those truth bombs.
You might think that this isn't the espisode for you! That would be a mistake. The MentalEdge firmly believes that all around us lessons are passively being taught. All you have to do is pay attention. In this episode you will hear a young man speak who is wise and respectful beyond his years. A young man who has found his path, a young man who doesn't make excuses. what could possibly be more powerful than that? Its refreshing on so many levels to hear somebody say. "I didn't get what I wanted because I was out worked". So give this Episode a listen, snap to it. Yes, we can learn something from hardworking young people. All we have to do is pay attention!
If we've said it once, we've said it 1000 times. As you step forward faithfully often times the road will not resemble the way you imagined it. But if you have listened to the still small voice and continued to move forward and trust, then one thing is for sure...you won't be able to add the progress up on paper and make it make sense.Because God math isn't conventional, its EXTRAordinary. It doesn't make sense on paper, just like the fishes and the loaves. You might be compelled to dismiss the divine suggesetions as nonsense but instead lean in and take a small step toward the promise and watch the doubt and fear tremble at your obedience. Pray to know your purpose. Be intentional, yet patient. All of these things are declarations of your faith and they will be honored with relevant timely rewards you can't possibly imagine.
Fernando and I have learned many valuable lessons in 4 seasons. Many of those lessons have served us well in the future in ways we didn't expect! One of the most valuable lesson we've learned is that Compensation for service isn't always the type you swipe. You don't alway get that gas money. But we seem to have this intuitive, life learned, boomerang blessing, confidence that helps us discern when it makes sense to be part of the solution and not worry about that milk money. Each and every time we have dedicated our time and didn't worry about the green the Lord has always made it count for us in ways we couldn't have dreamed of. We can't always say yes and neither can you...The trick is, to learn when its the right thing to do and then....Serve with a Smile
Question, did you happen to see Will Smith Slap his friend across the face on live Television just before he received the Coveted Best Actor Award? Mind-boggling!We often look at Celebrities and think that they have most of the things we want. Fame, fortune and favor to name a few.We press our faces against the glass and stare with envy or admiration yet we often forget that they are mere humans just like us..they literally put their pants on just like you to use an old analogy...the only difference...theirs are Jordache and ours are often wranglers. yes Jordache jeans were the bomb, just ask your mom! When their life unravels just like ours we seem shocked. The more I see it the less I am surprised. Men, if you are respected and supported and loved inside your own home you are rich beyond many billionaires. Be sure to thank those who breath life into you. Be sure to be thankful to the Lord who built the foundation that created your bullet proof home. Inside those fortified walls are all the riches a man will ever need.
MentalEdgers, you are about to be blessed with the presence of two exrodinary women. It takes a special gift and courage to put your story down on paper and bravely share it with the rest of the world. The only thing more amazing and courageous is to stand on the stage of a beautiful auditorium in front of eager listeners and read it aloud to a full house. That's what Britany Miller Dawson and Jamie El-Talabani are just about to do. The "Listen To Your Mother Event" is a charitable artistic event whose proceeds benefit St. Jude House. But guess what ....the charitable giving doesn't stop there because everybody in the house gets blessed by the Authors as they read their personal pieces. There are two show this year. One at the incredible Hoosier Theater in Whiting on April 30th at 7pm. and the second show will be held at Hobart's Historic Art Theater May 1st at 3pm.Both shows are being seamlessly organized by Event Director Carrie BedwellSo get to click'n and give a listen, then hop on over to Facebook to look up the event and get some tickets.
Sometimes we get a person in the MentalEdge hot seat and turn on the mics and its just flows like lava..and that's exactly what happened with Shane Evans. He's the owner and operator of the Hobart Art Theater and he shares the buisness with a trusted partner who runs the incredible Bar and Grill right next store. Together they've brought something special to the region that's hard to believe..an all inclusive top notch live music and restuarant experience that attracts national touring talent. Somehow, despite all of the integration of new power and sound equipment, Shane has managed to keep that special old school theater charm at the forefront. So even though in the background, technically the theater hardly resembles its original musty self...at the user end, it still feels like home. I don't want to steal any more thunder from this amazing episode. Just get to clicking..Shane's passion and exuberance is exactly what you need today..and The Art Theater and BrickHouse Bar and Grill is exactly what you need tonight!

Fernando had this vision of a stone worker striking a rock. 100 or 1000 times..boom boom boom boom, over and over and over again and then suddenly, after what seemed like no progress, the rock broke. Was it all about the last Blow? How often do we stay vigilant until the work is done. How often do we peel off just before the breakthrough? How often do we fail to realize that the delay in completion is exactly where we experience the most growth? Where our character is developed in ways that immediate success simply couldn't have fostered. We have to believe that every blow counts. Invisible personal progress is happening when conventional proof seems to be illusive. Now the Hands of this Stone Worker are incredibly strong, His mental fortitude fully developed and his callouses are ready for war. Yes indeed hidden progress has been made, it wasn't the last blow the completed the task. It was all 1000 and 1 mighty faith filled strokes that culminated into success.
Its so rare in modern Politics to hear sombody gush about their Love of the Lord. It almost seems out of place and as if God and Politics can't be residents of the same sentence without it being insanely divisive. But hold the presses, Insert the Mayor of the Great City of Hobart Indiana...Mayor Brian Snedecor. Listen to him explain his decision precision process. Listen how he handles enevitable criticism. Spoiler alert his armor is the Armor of God. His means by which he measures his inclinations to respond and decide are influenced by his desire to please the Lord and do what's right for the community as a whole. That's a bullet proof Philosophy.Somebody please help us find our mic...cuz The Mayor kept on drop'n it. Boom!So Get to clicking, What are you waiting for. All the good stuff is on the other side of the Click!
There are few words more powerful in a mans life than to hear that he is highly respected. As young men we are told that this thing which is so important to us has to be earned. It seems love is supposed to be unconditional yet respect is very conditional. At times we have gone to great lengths to facilitate being respected and sometimes we have done things we regretted when we felt dis-respected!Many of us have tried to purchase respect through the acquisition of possessions but the tradeoff is costly and those things didn't generate the lasting respect we craved. Real respect is earned through service and availability to the people you love and whom love you. Turn on your respect generating factory by being present. Basic Dude Stuff as Fernando always says, I couldn't agree more.
