After a huge win at Purdue last week 28-10, Nebraska comes home to play their last game before their BYE WEEK against Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Homecoming probably conjures memories of a chilly fall breeze through the trees with freshly fallen leaves and the smell of football wafting through the air. Mother Nature must not have received the memo of the Huskers playing their Homecoming Game this Saturday because the temps are supposed to be in the 90's. Besides the unseasonable temps, another unexpected but exhilarating occurrence is that we have a 4-1 season. However, with Rutgers 4-0 there is little time to celebrate. The Purdue game showed us a Husker team that we can stay focused and keep grinding since all the points were scored in the latter part of the game. We also learned we have some dudes that can BALL; Ceyair Wright, Alex Bullock, John Bullock, Brian Buschini, Jacorey Barney, Barret Leibentritt these guys. Tonight we will discuss the keys to winning on Saturday. Angela Kulikov is a CA girl who played college tennis at USC and is now a doubles specialist on the WTA Pro Tour, but can also kick some serious butt in singles and knows a thing or two about football having gone viral as the QB Chick right around the pandemic showcasing her absolute athleticism and ability to do it all! She has seen success on the pro tour and currently is dealing with a few minor injury snafus but always has some fun stories along the way. Alex Ward stands at 6 foot 4 and grew up in Florida…a hot bed for tennis as we all know, but currently wears number 47 and is the Long Snapper for the Los Angeles Rams! He played college football for the Knights at Central Florida but if you happen to see him on a tennis court you probably would assume he played tennis at UCF. He might just be the best tennis player currently on the NFL! James Winchester is the long snapper with the Kansas City Chiefs. He was undrafted in 2013 after playing his college football at the University of Oklahoma. He was signed by the Chiefs in 2015 and has been their long snapper since. He has been a member of four Super Bowl teams and won three titles, including this past season. His 22 postseason games played with the Chiefs is tied for a club record with tight end Travis Kielce. Zach Triner is the long snapper with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played his college football at Assumption College (Division II) in Massachusetts as a defensive end and long snapper and went undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft. After signing futures contracts and spending time on the Jets and Packers practice squads, Triner joined the Buccaneers in 2019 and is now entering his 6th season in 2024. Triner also is a Super Bowl champion, helping the Buccaneers to a title in the 2020 season.
