Gary makes an appearance on this glorious 192nd episode. We talk Overwatch. We talk Dauntless. We talk Tomb Raider. 175: Horizontal Delights First up this week is Brian. He's been doing a lot of Switch playing this week and its all turned out well. He finished OwlBoy and it's still the delight that it first was when he was playing on the PC. Can't beat that. Then his big game this week is Octopath Traveler. It looks even better in person and this 100 plus hour RPG has Brian hooked. Speaking of being hooked is Stephen and that's what Pokemon Quest. He's changed his tune a bit and has put in close to 20 plus hours into the game at this point. He totally gets it now! Following that is Anthony. He played Call of Duty Black Ops 3, which is unusual for him. It was free. His first point: 70GB to download. Crazy. Then he talks Shining Resonance Refrain. It is a JRPG down to the core, similar to Star Ocean. It's made by Sega, it's on the Switch, and it's a $60 dollar game. Anthony's final game was Jurassic Park Evolution. It is a lot like Roller Coaster Tycoon. I think he sold us all on that. Last up is Cox. He's got more Battlefield One. They added stuff, but nobody cares. Ending it all this week is Bioshock Infinite. Cox played the original two. He likes this one. Shocker. The Drunken News this week is nice and tight, as we like to say around these parts. We talk Xbox updates, money and competitions, It's Always Sunny game, indie games on the Switch, and more! Don't miss out! 174: Hit To Their Blow It's the day after July 4th, and boy is it always rough. But that's okay, because Cox and Pete have stopped by for an early morning recording of The Tangent to talk games! Getting this train rolling is Pete, and he's been playing Rise of the Tomb Raider. Got it with a Steam Deal for $30. It's a good price. He's about 25% through the game and is having a blast. Next is Brian, and he announces his retirement from Mario Tennis Aces after he won an online tournament. Seems a bit premature if you ask me. He "beat the bag" out of Chainchomp and hasn't returned. Go out on top I guess. Please excuse Cox's ridiculous questions about why Chainchomp plays with the racket in his mouth. He wasn't making too much sense. However, what does make sense is OwlBoy and Brian is playing though it again on the Switch. He still loves the game and its artwork. Next up is Mr. Ridiculous himself, Cox. He's playing Battlefield 1 and went on about some YouTube channel he follows about it. Stephen brings the train to the station this week with his continuing saga with Pokemon Quest. No, we didn't forget about the Drunken News this week even if no one was really drunk or drinking. I guess it doesn't live up to its name this week, but we still bring the news. We talk free Twitch Prime games everyday, EA blaming Zelda, Sunset Overdrive sequels, a 3DS successor, no mod support of Skyrim and Switch, and much more! 173: Hardcore Drainage It's almost the forth of July -- let freedom ring. The freedom to make poor jokes and drink heavily while talking about video games. Justin pops in to give us all his wisdom and guidance that has been missing on the podcast in recent memory. He's up first and we ask him his thoughts about E3, specially Fallout 76. He feels its "lost its way." Other than that the games he played during the week were Dishonored: Death of the Outsider and Pokemon Stadium for the N64. Next up, Anthony. He's got Mario Tennis Aces and Brian and Justin chime in too. Diverse thoughts abound about the game. Anthony's other game is Kamiko and Brian also played this one. It's a Zelda-like game. Brian's up third, and besides Mario Tennis Aces and Kamiko, he's got Crash of Cars, a mobile game. Stephen played the game too and he feels the opposite of Brian about the game. Lastly, Stephen. It's Pokemon Quest on mobile. If you thought Final Fantasy Quest was a "dumbed down" RPG. Oh boy, wait till you play this quasi-action RPG. Lots of news discussed during the Drunken News this week. 172: Addicted To Cox As we slowly recover from the excitement that was E3 (or lack therefore of) Pete and Cox make a return. Hilarity ensues. First up is Cox. His game this week is Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Spoilers: he gives the game a 'Yellow' and promptly explains that if you're main goal when playing a game is to have fun then you may want to look elsewhere. I guess it's a Stephen game. Brian's up next and brings Batman Telltale Season 2, Octopath Travler Demo, and Mario Tennis Aces. Anthony joins for some of that discussion. Speaking of Anthony, he played more of the Dark Souls Remaster. He's got some stuff to say about that rubberbanding AI. He also played For Honor. Pete's games this week were God Of War and Smite, and you can bet anything that Brian had some thoughts to add for God Of War. Lastly, Stephen. He played SimCity 2000 for GBA and Zen Bound 2 for mobile. The former doesn't allow the ability to lay some pipe. Whatever that means. In the Druken News this week Brian's wife, Tia, stops by and educates us on what is a gaming addiction. We probably all suffer from it, but somehow we all manage to make it through the day. 170: With My Noodlebob It's that time of a year again... E3. We bring you the hottest takes about what to expect at the show, which are usually... wrong. But it's fun anyway. More to the point, we get to explain what we, and hopefully by extension, what everyone else wants to see too. So strap in for the ride. However, before that we still have Under Your Thumb to get to. Derek is back and Brian extents him the courtesy of going first. He's got Pokemon Fire Red on his plate, and playing it using the Nuzlocke Challenge. It's basically a way to make the game more challenging. To each their own. The real challenge is defending which is the correct starter Pokemon to choose. And by that it's always Charmander. Derek also played Detroit Become Human and MLB The Show '18. The latter of which we have a great tangent about what makes a great baseball game. Next up is Brian. He tells us more about his playthough of Batman: The Telltale Series Season 2. I say playthough, but it's more of a watch though and occasionally press some buttons. Either way, he seems to enjoy it. Brian also has another mobile game, and in typical Brian fashion it's a movie game that tugs at the "heart strings." If you've ever been in a relationship (or even if you haven't), this is the game for you. But don't let me sell you on it, let Brian do that when you listen to him talk about Florence. It's $2.99, yet well worth it. Brian's final game this week is Mario Tennis Aces. He's a veteran of the series and lends his insight to explain what sets this game apart from previous titles. Some good and some bad, however what hasn't changed is the main tennis mechanics, and they are still very addicting and the game fun to play. Anthony give us his take on Bloodbourne and helping his friend playthough it. They happen to bail, but it gave him a great opportunity to take care of things he didn't do in the game. Hey, sometimes things have a way of working out. His other game is Dark Souls Remastered. Brian lets out a sharp groan, probably because you can't just watch and press a button, but Anthony is unfazed and explains what he likes about a game he never played when it first arrived. Lastly, Stephen is up and almost forgets that Brian wanted him to talk about 98 Cards again. The game that is sort of like Solitaire but really not at all like the game. It's still the only game in town.   Drunken News Eshop Datamine Reveals Fortnite Listing New Diablo Game Confirmed by Blizzard in Job Posting PUBG Sues Fortnite Who Gets To Be On The Steam Store?  Extras Creep us on Facebook Stalk us on Twitter Watch us on YouTube Or throw us that review on iTunes or Stitcher Questions, comments, concerns? 169: The Bottom Side Of Diglett Uncle muscles is back this week and things get a little weird. First, Anthony opens with Agony. A game that explores the world of Hell. The only problem is the glitches. Following that, he has Street Fighter 30th Anniversary. The only thing you need to know is that Guile isn't in it. I don't know how the game even got made. Next up is Pete. He's playing Smite and there's a new patch for it. PUBG is still on his plate and he's almost top 100. His last game was Total War: Warhammer II. Stephen has quick update about The Line Zen and his score. It's good. Plus, a game called Chicken Scream. It's a platform game that uses for the mic to move and jump. Yeah, it's hilarious. Lastly, Brian, and he talks Tell Tale's Batman Season 2, followed by Sushi Station by way of the eShop. Then he's got a mobile game called 98 Cards. Stephen has trouble understanding it.   Drunken News Rumor: Sony Could Be Considering a PlayStation Classic Killer7 Is Coming To Steam This Fall Atari co-founder Ted Dabney dies PUBG Sues Fortnite Battlefield V – Official Minimum PC System Requirements Mega Man 11 Release Date Confirmed with New Trailer Pokemon Quest Announced For Switch, Smartphones: Available Now On Switch Pokemon Let's Go! 168: Went Up Me Sideways The Tangent is at its best when there are, well, tangents. And in this episode you get two. As you know we're all about spoilers, so block your eyes, or else know you'll be looking forward to a discussion about the best bond theme song/movie and why half of us like playing old games and the other half doesn't. A classic Tangent conversation. But before that, we've brought Cox back this week, and for all intents and purposes he's kind of on fire. What kind of fire (dumpster?) remains to be seen. Shocking, I know. However, Brian opens up first with just some final thoughts about God of War. I'll say, if you're really interested in what the game has to offer you should go and listen to our spoilercast. It's full of, you guessed it, spoilers. Didn't see that coming, right? Then Brian talks a little Overwatch, just like the good (bad?) old days. It's the two year anniversary and everything is available to buy again. That sounds pretty cool. Next up, Stephen, and he steals two of Brian's shitter games, Retro Highway and The Line Zen. One is better than the other, but we'll let him explain. Following all of that, Cox is up and it's Rome Total War 2. We discover he only likes historical RTS's. We then precede to shit on him for not knowing about StarCraft. He made a big mistake. Finally, Anthony tells us about Okami HD, which everyone shits on him for having played thought the game many times. I don't see the problem. Drunken News Masahiro Sakurai's Super Smash Bros. 166: Blowing It Out Three's company too. It's just the three of us this week, but that doesn't stop us from talking about some great games. Stephen opens with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the 3DS, and man, is it a stinker. Considering the last TMNT game he played was on the SNES, I don't think he had high hopes, but still, it's a title you want to avoid unless you're looking for some laughs or you're a masochist. Then there's Brian, who finished up God of War, but he isn't really to talk spoilers yet until our spoilercast. So, keep a look out for that. Otherwise, he had a bunch of mobile games. Four to be exact: Peak, Smoosh!, Retro Highway, and The Line Zen. I'd describe them, but you'd be better off listening and hearing him do it. All sound good.
