Trilly and Gemini drive into some bonus Drunken News articles. Was supposed to be a snipisode and turned into a double upisode.... *Enjoy the bonus content peoples*
175: Horizontal Delights First up this week is Brian. He's been doing a lot of Switch playing this week and its all turned out well. He finished OwlBoy and it's still the delight that it first was when he was playing on the PC. Can't beat that. Then his big game this week is Octopath Traveler. It looks even better in person and this 100 plus hour RPG has Brian hooked. Speaking of being hooked is Stephen and that's what Pokemon Quest. He's changed his tune a bit and has put in close to 20 plus hours into the game at this point. He totally gets it now! Following that is Anthony. He played Call of Duty Black Ops 3, which is unusual for him. It was free. His first point: 70GB to download. Crazy. Then he talks Shining Resonance Refrain. It is a JRPG down to the core, similar to Star Ocean. It's made by Sega, it's on the Switch, and it's a $60 dollar game. Anthony's final game was Jurassic Park Evolution. It is a lot like Roller Coaster Tycoon. I think he sold us all on that. Last up is Cox. He's got more Battlefield One. They added stuff, but nobody cares. Ending it all this week is Bioshock Infinite. Cox played the original two. He likes this one. Shocker. The Drunken News this week is nice and tight, as we like to say around these parts. We talk Xbox updates, money and competitions, It's Always Sunny game, indie games on the Switch, and more! Don't miss out! Drunken News Mario & Luigi Developer AlphaDream Recruiting Graphic Designers For Switch And Smartphone Projects July Xbox Update Rolling Out Today Valve API Briefly Leaks Player Counts For Over 10,000 Steam Games Masashi Sakurai: Prize Money Competitions Not 'In Line' With Nintendo's Philosophy TODD HOWARD: 'IF YOU WANT US TO STOP RELEASING SKYRIM PORTS, STOP BUYING THEM' Bungie Co-Founder’s Studio Bought By Electronic Arts 'It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia' Game Announced Many more indie games will be coming to Switch if Nintendo has its way Extras Creep us on Facebook Stalk us on Twitter Watch us on YouTube Or throw us that review on iTunes or Stitcher Questions, comments, concerns? 174: Hit To Their Blow It's the day after July 4th, and boy is it always rough. But that's okay, because Cox and Pete have stopped by for an early morning recording of The Tangent to talk games! Getting this train rolling is Pete, and he's been playing Rise of the Tomb Raider. Got it with a Steam Deal for $30. It's a good price. He's about 25% through the game and is having a blast. Next is Brian, and he announces his retirement from Mario Tennis Aces after he won an online tournament. Seems a bit premature if you ask me. He "beat the bag" out of Chainchomp and hasn't returned. Go out on top I guess. Please excuse Cox's ridiculous questions about why Chainchomp plays with the racket in his mouth. He wasn't making too much sense. However, what does make sense is OwlBoy and Brian is playing though it again on the Switch. He still loves the game and its artwork. Next up is Mr. Ridiculous himself, Cox. He's playing Battlefield 1 and went on about some YouTube channel he follows about it. Stephen brings the train to the station this week with his continuing saga with Pokemon Quest. No, we didn't forget about the Drunken News this week even if no one was really drunk or drinking. I guess it doesn't live up to its name this week, but we still bring the news. We talk free Twitch Prime games everyday, EA blaming Zelda, Sunset Overdrive sequels, a 3DS successor, no mod support of Skyrim and Switch, and much more! Drunken News EA Is Now Blaming Zelda for Mass Effect Andromeda’s Failure, Dev Blatantly Lied on Camera Rumor: Sunset Overdrive, Bloodborne Sequels Hinted At On Amazon New Nintendo president Furukawa: “considering various possibilities” for 3DS successor Todd Howard: Fallout 5 Will Be Singleplayer After Multiplayer Centric Fallout 76 Sakurai Comments On Super Smash Bros. 173: Hardcore Drainage It's almost the forth of July -- let freedom ring. The freedom to make poor jokes and drink heavily while talking about video games. Justin pops in to give us all his wisdom and guidance that has been missing on the podcast in recent memory. He's up first and we ask him his thoughts about E3, specially Fallout 76. He feels its "lost its way." Other than that the games he played during the week were Dishonored: Death of the Outsider and Pokemon Stadium for the N64. Next up, Anthony. He's got Mario Tennis Aces and Brian and Justin chime in too. Diverse thoughts abound about the game. Anthony's other game is Kamiko and Brian also played this one. It's a Zelda-like game. Brian's up third, and besides Mario Tennis Aces and Kamiko, he's got Crash of Cars, a mobile game. Stephen played the game too and he feels the opposite of Brian about the game. Lastly, Stephen. It's Pokemon Quest on mobile. If you thought Final Fantasy Quest was a "dumbed down" RPG. Oh boy, wait till you play this quasi-action RPG. Lots of news discussed during the Drunken News this week. We talk Monster Hunter for Switch, Telltale ditch its old engine, Bethesda suing Warner Bros., and more! 165: PUBG, Fortnite, And God Of War Never a dull moment as we bring two guests to the podcast this week. Kharl and returning guest Pete come on to talk about the latest God of War release. Both have gotten deep in the game and went so far as to pick up a PS4 just to play it. Now, that's some dedication. After that, some Witcher 3 thoughts from Kharl during his first playthough. It makes for some interesting discussions. Then Pete lets us in about some PUBG, along with a bit of Fortnite talk. 157: Monster Hunter, The Banner Saga, and Indie Game Discussion Hey, we're nothing else but consistent every week, regardless of who shows up. This week it's a three man cast, and two of the regulars with Brandon Cox stepping in for a missing Brian and Gary. But, it's okay, we make due anyway. First up is Anthony, and he's got Monster Hunter on the brain, yet again. Stephen is still trying to wrap his head around how intense the game actually is, and Brandon really can't really make heads or tails of it. That's to be expected, though. Then Brandon's up and he has a fair amount of indie games to talk about. Guacamelee!, The Banner Saga, Limbo, and Gone Home are all on the agenda. Plus, we have a great discussion on the importance of indie games and their benefit for gamers and the industry. The Drunken News this week mostly consists of the Nintendo Direct, so don't miss out on that! Drunken News Sounds Like Blizzard Really Is Porting Diablo 3 To Switch (Even Though It Said It Wasn't) Skyrim Switch Studio Publicly Offers To Port Monster Hunter World For Capcom AN ANNOUNCEMENT FROM MASSIVE ENTERTAINMENT ON THE DIVISION 2 Nintendo Direct News Recap: New Switch Games For March 2018 Extras Creep us on Facebook Stalk us on Twitter Watch us on YouTube Or throw us that review on iTunes or Stitcher Questions, comments, concerns? 155: Kona, Secret of Mana, And Crossing Souls We had to cut the episode short this week on account of someone getting married (send your congrats to @ItzAMeBt), so there is no Drunken News. However, never fear, we've got plenty of games to talk about. And also, next week's episode is our 3rd year anniversary of the podcast. So, who knows what shenanigans may take place. Be sure to tune in to twitch.tv/pxlpts on Thursday, March 1st to see what happens LIVE. 147: Hob, South Park, And Super Paper Mario Well, you know what they say, start the New Year with a bang. And by bang, we mean down one man. Wouldn't you know it? Gary broke his foot once again, and both of them, in another tragic volleyball incident. Guess you aren't able to play on ice. Food for thought. Let's get started, and first up is Stephen with Super Paper Mario. It has some issues, but he's only an hour or so in. The real issue was the batteries in his Wii remote. Garbage. The game looks good, has some of the same humor from previous games, yet falls flat so far on the combat system, as it was radically changed from Paper Mario for the N64 and Thousand Year Door. Next, Anthony, and he's got Dark Siders 2. It's pretty much a Zelda, but with simpler puzzles. The combat system isn't too bad either. He's enjoying it. Then there's Brian. He checks out Hob, the game in which Gary was signing the praises of. Brian? Not so much. You want to explore? Good luck finding anything. He also finds the combat system extremely frustrating. It looks good though. Then South Park: Fractured But Whole. It's a South Park game for sure. The humor is there and much more. The last Drunken News of 2017. What a year its been for us and many others. We talk Nintendo in multiple stories, Diablo 3 returns retro, and Playstation Plus' games this month are definitely worth checking out. The Tangent - 109: Princess Exclusive Another one bites the dust this week, as Brian is the odd man out and couldn't make it. That's okay, because Justin is back and better than ever. Well, maybe... Gary has his time to shine with more coverage of Mass Effect: Andromeda. His opinions may or may not be well liked, but one thing's for sure: they're strong. Besides Gary monopolizing the talk time on this game, Justin jumps in to share his thoughts, and much like Justin himself, it wasn't what he expected. The story just isn't there. Or maybe the writing wasn't good. We'll never really know. Anthony then tells us all about his rage in the new Dark Souls DLC. He, of course, beat the whole thing. Shocking, I know. He tells us the last boss is probably the best of all Dark Souls games. If anything, he delivers one classy line at the end. What more could you want? Lastly, we wrap up this week with more Breath of the Wild talk. Justin has gotten the goods (and Anthony's Switch) and sunk a fair bit of time into it. His thoughts? In a word, (repeated many times) fucking fantastic. In fact, we had to write it down. Points are FLYING in this week's Drunken News. Some of the guys are on a tear, while others are seas full of salt. Difficult to tell who is who (not really). We start strong with GameStop shutting down some store and go on from there with a StarCraft remaster, AMD's graphics card tease, StarWars Battlefront 2, Playstation Plus for April, Cyberpunk 2077, Xbox One dashboard updates, MadCatz filing Chapter 7, and the Yooka-Laylee rap. AND before we end the news we ANNOUNCE the winner of our Mass Effect: Andromeda giveaway. So, stick around and see if you won! But don't worry if you didn't, as there are sure to be more giveaways in the future. Keep an eye out! The Tangent - 108: Squeaking Out Some Seeds Sometimes people just need a break. A little time away, if you will. I think you can understand? This week we record a day early, so Justin is out of the mix, because as you know, ball is life. But in any case that doesn't really slow us down. Leading off is Gary, and boy does he lead off. He gets right into Mass Effect: Andromeda, where Brian and Anthony also jump in. He says he won't be as negative as last week and get caught up in the GIF hype. Gary's got about 12 - 16 hours, whereas Anthony and Brian have only put in 5 - 6 hours and 2 - 3 hours, respectfully. Brian thinks the tutorial does a good job with no heavy conversations and it starts off quick and then slows down. Feeling like a slightly better Mass Effect, but the story isn't all that great. Though, Gary thinks the cover system is a piece of shit. They can all agree that the game shouldn't be getting the "hate" that it currently is. Gary then moves onto Lawbreakers, a game finally secured a demo code for. Hard work pays off. But what's more astonishing is that this could be the game that takes Gary away from Overwatch. Mighty big words. Next up is Brian, where he finally wraps up Horizon: Zero Dawn. It's his 'Game of the Year' so far. He finds the story farfetched and outlandish, but the animations are better than Mass Effect: Andromeda. And as we know, that's hard to accomplish... However, the game and story wrap up nicely. Last this week is Anthony. Him and the rest of us talk about where we are in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Suffice it to say, Anthony's way ahead of us all (surprise, surprise). We continue on with the Drunken News this week and it's point system, with some great stories. We talk about YouTube's new restrictions, Overwatch and a potential map editor, harsh working conditions at BioWare, leaked Destiny 2 poster, and more! The Drunken News YouTube’s restriction rules are impacting gaming channels Overwatch Director Says Map Editor Could Come In Distant Future Alleged BioWare Employee Details Harsh Working Conditions Dark Souls 3 Ringed City DLC Patch Notes Revealed Fallout 4 VR Confirmed for E3 2017, Will ‘Blow Our Minds’ Mass Effect: Andromeda devs "absolutely listening" to fans, investigating updates for complaints The hero Australia deserves: senator commands Canberra to 'leave gamers alone' Fan project to get Zelda: Breath of the Wild running on PC shows remarkable progress Leaked Destiny 2 poster puts release date in September Xbox Games With Gold for April include Ryse, Darksiders Extras Creep us on Facebook Stalk us on Twitter Watch us on YouTube Or throw us that review on iTunes or Stitcher Questions, comments, concerns? The Tangent - 107: Mom's Against Everything Gary opens up this week with a EA Early Access game. It's Mass Effect: Andromeda and it has some unique quirks, such as: bad writing, sparse gameplay, and animations that would be fitting in The Looney Tunes. However, not all is bad, as the game looks incredible. Gary's hoping it gets better as it goes on. His next game was Quake Champions, which he got a chance to play at PAX East last week. It's a free to play game, but you can also buy the game outright. It's everything he loves about those old "fast shooters". Rounding out his week is Gotham City Imposters. Another free to play game that's also a first person shooter. Let's just say you press 'G' to throw a grenade. Anthony's next and it's Breath of the Wild, allowing Brian and Stephen to chime in. He's two dungeons down. Lightfall was a game Anthony played at PAX East and he says it's like Super Meat Boy, but faster. I really don't know how that is possible. Anthony and Brian then get into two PAX games, Wulverblade and Chasm. The former is a hand drawn historically accurate side-scrolling beat-em-up game. They got the chance to chat with the developer, too. Chasm is basically a Castlevania-type game. It has a bit of a Game of Thrones vibe. Then Brian talks about a game he played at the Boston Fig, Preception. It's by Deep End Games, and you play as a blind girl who uses sonar (think Daredevil) to navigate her away around a mansion. Brian does a better job explaining it than I do. Lastly, Justin, has two games. First, Moonlighter, also another PAX game. It's a hack-n-slash. The thing he likes most about it? You can sell your items on the innovatory screen. Then it's Dragon Age. He's put about 80 - 85 hours into the game, beating the last mission and all 10 dragons. There is some form of New Game Plus and a multiplayer similar to Mass Effect. The Drunken News this week is different. We've decided to do a points system (where the points may or may not matter). I think it turned out well, but you can be the judge. So, be sure to let us know!! The Drunken News PlayStation Now will bring PS4 games to your PC Horizon Zero Dawn sales top 2.6M units in under two weeks H1Z1 PLAYERBASE GROWS 1000% IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS Mass Effect 1 Has Distinctively Better Animations Than Andromeda Sonic Mania delayed to summer Report: Nintendo To Double Switch Production For Next Fiscal Year The Witcher 3's animators created 7,000 new animations in one year for the DLC Extras Creep us on Facebook Stalk us on Twitter Watch us on YouTube Or throw us that review on iTunes or Stitcher Questions, comments, concerns? The Tangent - 105: Pumping It Out It's the big Switch week and I'm sure you're all just champing at the bit just to hear what we think about it. But before we do that... We begin with Justin this week and he's all about Dragon Age: Inquisition. He wanted to let you know it's the Game of the Year Edition with all the DLC, so you fools that don't have that version can all feel inferior. The game reminds him a lot of Bioware games. And in case you were wondering... Dragon Age water > Skyrim Remaster water. Pure glisten. Gary's then got some H1Z1 to tell us all about. He played some king of the hill and 170 person free for all. Besides that, it's Overwatch. Season 4. It's his first full season on PC and he finished 1978. Not bad, I think? There was also a new character released, Orissa, who is a four-legged robot. Lastly, finishing things up, is Brian and Anthony with Horizon Zero Dawn. They make note of the long tutorial and an actually good story. There's no Drunken News this week because it's all about the Nintendo Switch and the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I won't spoil anything here, so just go and listen to what we think so far about one of this year's biggest game releases. Also, this week we'll be at PAX East in Boston. The Tangent - 104: Only The Best For Astronauts We're down a man this week, as Gary couldn't make it. R.I.P. No big deal, we've got some games to talk about. Anthony's up first, and is still playing Nioh. He's level 92, but still finds himself under leveled for the last boss, so he's replaying missions to get to 122. Brutal. He also went back to Pokemon Go, as Nintendo added more Pokemon, drawing from the Gold & Silver-era. However, Great Balls continues to remain useless. Justin, for our Let's Play, played Titan Souls, an 8-bit pixel art game that consists only of boss fights. His only game this week. Stephen and Brian then have a nice chat about Chameleon Run. Still pretty blown away from this surprise hit. Finally, Brian, played Adrift. It's a first-person experience game. You're an astronaut on a broken space station trying to collect oxygen for your damaged spacesuit. Headphones on for Brian with this one. The Drunken News this week lacks Nintendo Switch news as we're mere days away from launch, but does contain some down notes. We've got Xbox Live Games for Gold, AMD's new Ryzen processor, lost SNES games found, the BioShock creator with a new studio, Blizzard MMOs, Twitch Streamer found dead after 24-hour stream, and Nintendo of America's Co-Founder, Alan Stone, passes away. The Tangent - 99: Hoggin' It Up We're one away from the big 100th episode and we're not even sure how it happened. What we do know is that there are some giveaways for all you fine listeners. So make sure you listen the episode to get all the details. Brian picks himself first in Under Your Thumb this week and he's got two games to share. First, Quest of Dungeons. It's a turn based dungeon crawler and it's pixel art. What more could you ask? Then it's Stories: The Path of Destinies, a game that Anthony has talked about on the podcast before. Anthony also has two games this week. Hyper Light Drifter is another 16-bit style game and it ends up being an action adventure RPG. He seems to be a fan. Following that is Dragon Quest 8 for the 3DS which was just very recently released. A game that he has played before on the PS2. Gary's got some Steam games for us this week. Who's Your Daddy? is less like Showering With Dad, but still just as ridiculous. He also can't help being topical with the game Mr. President. Rounding out his Steam games is Orcs Must Die! It's a tower defense game that puts you in the action. Gary's final game was Dishonored 1. Ending things this week is Justin, and also with two games, Mass Effect 2 and Dishonored 2. The Drunken News this week still continues some of discussions of the Nintendo Switch, news of Fallout: New Orleans, Portal Designer joining Star Wars game, a Zelda-inspired indie game, and more. The Tangent - 97: Santa Delivered We're back at it. New year, same old crew. As always we open with Under Your Thumb and Brian starts this one off, first with Dishonored 2. It's now Platinumed. Onward with Ocean Horn, a game he completed, and you know what, the story is still shit. I guess sometimes you can't win them all. Brian ends this week with Forza Horizon 3. A genre he doesn't really understand, nor does he care to. However, the game is actually pretty good. Gary also completes a game this week and it too has a shit story. We're talking Shadow Warrior 2. Even more importantly is that Gary tried the Resident Evil 7: Biohazard demo, and he couldn't make it through. He just couldn't get to the light. That and his heart isn't make if ice. Speaking of ice, Anthony played the Resident Evil 7: Biohazard demo too, but his main game this week was Stories: Path of Destiny. It really is just like a choose your own adventure book. Good luck getting it all right on the first try! Finally Justin. Pokemon was on his agenda this week with a second play through. Although he may have needed some help from someone... Then comes the Overwatch discussion. A new map this week -- Oasis. Good band too. The Drunken News talks this week about Zelda launching on time (in the US at least), Eternal Darkness trademarks, a porn DVD in a Splatoon box, and Diablo 1-style dungeons in Diablo 3. The Tangent - 96: Victim To His Deck It's the last episode of 2016 and boy has it been quite the year. We are also getting ever closer to the 100th episode. Leading off tonight is Gary. He does a rundown of all the games he's now playing on the PC. We can't really understand because we're not "Elite" enough. Doom, Shadow Warrior 2, and Overwatch all make that list. Ultra Settings are just too much for us to handle (and himself for that matter). Following him is Brian. He's taking it nice and easy and platinuming Dishonored 2. After his time with that, he's been spending it in the game Oceanhorn. He can't get enough of it. Justin's been hoping around from game to game this week. The Tangent - 94: Nuts To Face We're recording a day early and down a man, as Justin sits this one out. Ball is life. What really is life is the games played this week. Gary leads off with some Overwatch talk. He discusses the patch and the "Winter Wonderland". Mixed feelings. Yet, Pokemon Sun, is very clear. Anthony and Gary get into real detail about the game. Especially Anthony who beat the game again... savage. He prefers sun. Following that is The Last Guardian. Both Anthony and Brian think the game is pretty much a yellow. It's a game that maybe isn't worth the wait. Lastly, Super Mario Run. Brian and Stephen talk in depth about this mobile venture. Does it feel like Mario or not? Who knows? The Drunken News this week talks, January Switch presentations, Pikmin and Starfox games, Witcher 3, and always online connections. The Drunken Show Notes: Nintendo's 'Super Mario Run' for iPhone requires a persistent internet connection for play Doom 4 was canceled because it felt too much like Call of Duty Nintendo's big Switch presentation will be on January 13 in Japan Wii U version of Yooka Laylee cancelled at the last minute For Honor Requires Always Online Internet Connection The Surge gameplay trailer shows off Dark Souls-inspired sci-fi combat Shigeru Miyamoto Teases More Pikmin and Star Fox Games Witcher 3 Gameplay Designer Joins Techland Extras Creep us on Facebook Stalk us on Twitter Watch us on YouTube Or throw us that review on iTunes or Stitcher Questions, comments, concerns? The Tangent - 93: In The Pants, On The Floor Every once in a while there is an episode that gets a little out of hand. This is probably on of them. Brian is first and he starts with Dishonored 2. Chipping away, chipping away. However, he's really into Dragon Quest Builders. I mean, he does really love the game. The Zelda meets Minecraft is the new go to for the "Brian Shitter Game™" title. His smartphone now gets no love. Then, the Last Guardian is the big game of the week, and that's where Anthony Jumps in. A game that took 10 years to come out. They both have a lot to say (well, Brian mainly), but they both agree overall about what the game turned out to be. Speaking of what turned out to be, it turns out, Pokemon Moon & Sun is just taking over Anthony, Gary, and Justin's time. Mostly, because of the hand holding. It's just too much. Gary quizzes us on Dead Rising 4. How many Zombies in the game? I think God Mic has the correct answer (as always). Finishing things up is Justin. Sleeping Dogs (lie never far enough away). A game with Batman Arkham series-like fighting. Sounds like it could be good. Justin enjoys it. The Drunken News this week is definitely drunken. We've got Nintendo on Jimmy Fallon, A Sony PS4 Pro conspiracy, 50 million PS4s, Bully on iOS, and plenty more shenanigans. The Tangent - 91: Turkey Stank No Black Friday sale is going to get in the way of this podcast. Thankfully no one was injured in trying to snag a deal, mostly because no one went out into the crowds. Probably for the best. So, we're bringing you a post-Thanksgiving (in America) Black Friday edition of the podcast. You're welcome. Leading things off is Justin, who is in a non-speaking time-out. Cleverly he picks himself, so all bets are really off. But really he actually chooses Anthony. He opens with Dishonored 2 and that of course is... still going. Then it's off to Pokemon Sun where Gary jumps in and everybody starts to hang loose. Speaking of Gary, we've got Mirror's Edge Catalyst, but the game he can't wait to talk about, along with Justin, is Super Dungeon Bros. A game you should definitely pick up. For sure. They absolutely said you should. Brian throws us a bit of a curveball with Dragon Quest Builders. It has some similarities to Minecraft. He's not complaining. Finally, Justin talks about Dark Souls III (and his Let's Play of it), before talking yet again about that Skyrim Remaster. It's almost as bad as repeating jokes. The Drunken News is still less drunk than it should be, yet we press on. This week it's Overwatch Christmas music, Fable 4 (probably never being made), Pokemon Sun & Moon bugs, Xbox Games with Gold, Ubisoft jumping on the no paid DLC for the full game bandwagon, Lego City Undercover switches teams, and probably another article about Overwatch. The nation may be divided, but this podcast sure isn't. This week we finished up our Let's Play of the game Virginia and let's just say, we're all just a bit confused. So, you should definitely go and check that out! However, before we even start talking about Virginia, Stephen begins Under Your Thumb this week with two games. First, Twilight Princess HD. He thinks it's not worth your time, and to add insult to injury, hardly even "HD". The other game he played was Super Mario 3D World, which many of the gang agree is a great game. He would concur. Following that is Justin. He still has a lot to say about the Skyrim Remaster. You know, the water, the grass, the rocks, and the clouds. Especially the clouds. It even got him off his Fallout 4 kick. Who would have thought? He also introduced the rest of us to a "Brian Shitter Game™, Steppy Pants. Group texts aside, I think he made a good case for the game being good. Gary's next and his game this week is Titanfall 2. For a game he was on the fence about buying he sure does seem pretty happy about his purchase. The game developers must also love listening to the podcast too, because some of the names in the game hit a little too close to home, and a little too close for comfort. Anthony then lets us know he's still going strong on Dark Souls 3, unlike some people who seem to have trouble even removing the plastic wrap from the game. The new Dishonored 2 makes an appearance and that's when Brian jumps in to talk about the game. Speaking of the game, Brian did an unboxing of his Collector's Edition copy of the game. You should absolutely take a look at that. But the game seems great. A somewhat short Drunken News tonight, but we talk Jade Empire sequels, Fallout 4 mods on the PS4, Mafia III update, Nintendo Wii U's end, downloadable NES manuals, and The Last Guardian going gold. The Drunken Show Notes: Jade Empire Sequel is ‘Never Dead,’ Says BioWare Fallout 4 Mods For PS4 Coming With Next Update New Mafia III Update Includes Free, Stylish Outfits Nintendo announces the end of Wii U production Download and print game manuals for all 30 games coming in the NES Classic Edition The Last Guardian may have taken a decade, but it will have 4K! It's Halloween today, and much like sitting down to watch a Halloween movie to get into the spirit of the holiday (that, of course, excludes The Nightmare Before Christmas), we too play games that give us that same spooky Halloween feeling. Anthony brings Gears of War, which allows the rest of the guys to jump in and share more of their experiences. There's also Dark Souls 3, but really Layers of Fear is Anthony's game this week. Brian catches us off guard with a Vita (what?) title, The Bridge. Sometimes life is strange, and speaking of that, Life Is Strange is another game Brian played this week. It wouldn't be a Tangent episode now without someone talking about Overwatch. It's okay, God-Mic doesn't even realize that it's happening anymore. Ignoring who started that discussion, Gary fills us in on more Until Dawn. He just can't get enough. Also, Battlefield 1 is still on the agenda. Gary and Justin seem to be finding (or making) their own humor in the game. Stephen then slips his game in and it's Color Splash. Or is it Sticker Star? He's not quite sure, and neither is Nintendo it seems. Finally, Justin just adds some more tidbits about his time with Mafia 3. The Drunken News brings us more Nintendo Switch discussion (along we more confusing Justin reasoning), some Overwatch, Bethesda's review policy, and an Uncharted movie. Something tells me this is going to be a long episode. I don't know. Maybe it's because I edit them, but there is something mystical about it all. Or maybe it's miscellaneous? Who knows? Any who, Justin starts this week with, of course, Overwatch. Woo. Pokemon Leaf Green gets a mention, but really it's all about Mafia 3 for, well, the 3 of them. It's a hybrid of sorts. Or not. I don't really understand what that word means, actually. Anthony lets us know he's been playing Gears of War 4, though the real surprise is Color Splash, which is actually is more of a bellyflop. He also tries Emily Wants To Play. I'm not sure she really does. I know the rest of the gang is pretty freaked out. Speaking of freaked out, Brian freaks us out by not liking a "movie game" with him checking out 'Virginia' on the PS4. Too much movie and not enough game for him. Never thought I'd live to see and hear about it. Strange days. Closing it out this week is Gary. He talks a lot about Battlefield One. That's really all I remember. You should probably listen. The Drunken News is still pretty dry. Too dry, really. Sometimes the drive is just too far for some people, and for others it isn't. Go figure. I know this week we're seeing a lot of red. For one, Red Dead Redemption 2 is on the horizon with a trailer release, Blizzard makes some changes to Overwatch (...), and Nintendo announces the 'Nintendo Switch' (finally). Gary's taking the lead-off position this week with ReCore, but I'm surprised his was able to make it with all the waiting he's had to do with the loading screens. With some (un)scientific proof, Gary and Justin manage to see who truly has some of the longest loading screens. That's not all for Gary, though. He's also got another game, The Park. It's a horror adventure and it's right up his alley. Dark room, headphones, alone, that's how those games are meant to be played. Anthony sinks his time into Dragon Quest VII. Just another typical RPG for him, but also a good one. Justin tells us more about EarthLock, this time somewhat more coherently (maybe). He then let us in on Assassin's Creed Chronicles China, which was a mystery to at least one of The Tangent. Next, Brian puts the bookend on his Deus Ex adventure. It'd say he enjoyed it, but I'll let the man speak for himself. Finally, Stephen gets back to us with the Rom Hack, Super Mario 64 Run. Not much to say about it. Mario does indeed run. We've got Drunken News about Blizzard changing Battle.Net's name, Ubisoft and the NX, some Xbox games with Gold, and more disappointing PC Port issues. It's a five man crew this week as Gary returns to the podcast. First, we've got what is now our weekly Overwatch update. Gary, Brian, and Justin both find something amiss when playing with a certain friend online. But they have a strategy on how to deal with it. Well, three of them do. Also, there's some commentary on who should be buffed and who should actually be nurfed. Interesting stuff. We then return to Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. It turns out the game is pretty good. Following that is the Fallout 4 DLC, in what is hopefully the last discussion about it for awhile (unlikely). Gary makes sure to talk about the Battlefield 1 demo, because it turns out him and Brian don't exactly see eye to eye on it. In a bit of a surprise, four us managed to attend the Boston Festival of Indie Games over at MIT in Cambridge. It's a small local indie game event that consisted of about 30 or so indie developers and table top board game designers and creators. It was a nice showcase, and we talk about some of the games that we saw there, so especially take a listen to that. In the Drunken News, we hammer away at the big news about the PS4 this week, along with Nintendo showing up at the Apple event, and of course, some early numbers from Metroid Prime: Federation Force. Buckle up. We can safely say this week that the verdict is in on No Man's Sky. There is a lot to say about it, and you can bet it's good. What doesn't need to be said is that there's STILL a lot of talk about when it comes to Overwatch. The upcoming update sparks a discussion of how it will change the game going forward. Besides those two (now) staples, Gary and Justin step into their time machine and visit an era when wrestling games were a thing, and attempt to capture some of that nostalgia and bring it to their other game this week: WWE 2016. It's no WrestleMania 2000. Then again, what is? Finally, Brian closes it out with the indie title Abzu. If you like Journey you may like this title. The Drunken News is, well, still drunken. In what is the shortest (and some might say "tightest") episode we've done, Under Your Thumb gets a bit disorganized this week. Partly due to the fact that No Man's Sky is on the agenda. But before that begins Gary updates us on Until Dawn. Spoiler Alert: Jessica is still alive. Gary and Justin have some theories on why that may be, though I can't say if they were any good. The Drunken News turns in to "in other news" this week. It really keeps Justin on his toes. One Tap Tennis seems to have gotten a hold of everyone this week because Brian starts his Under Your Thumb with the game. It's a much tougher than he had first thought. Then he got more time with Doom on the PS4, thanks to Anthony, and there is a lot to say. Speaking of Anthony, he's up next, but only with one game this week, Witcher 3. The gang agrees, the game still looks beautiful. Justin throws some surprises this week. Yet another tower defense game, Toy Defense, is Justin's opening game. We all groan, but he is confident it is a great version of the game. We'll see... His first real surprise, LA Cops. Justin's memories of the game from PAX East 2015 were positive, yet playing it now... not so much, sadly. He wraps up with another PAX East 2015 game, White Night. A game he wanted to not like, but loved. Gray ends this week's Under Your Thumb and he's played XCOM: Enemy Within and Trials of the Blood Dragon. One there is better than the other. But which? A lot going on in the Drunken News on the Nintendo side this week. We discuss more Zelda: Breath Of The Wild news and more NX news. Hey, guys, you know, how are you this week? Life treating you good? Everything going well? Things are definitely going well for Gary as he leads off Under Your Thumb this week with a bit of a shocker. After that wears off, he's got Pokemon X, A Link Between Worlds, extensive Doom thoughts, and Shadow of the Beast. Justin returns to Uncharted 4 and is already on a second playthrough, partly because he took the easy way out to begin with. But you know who doesn't take the easy way out? Anthony. And he's still got plenty of Dark Souls 3 to talk about, and of course the new Fallout 4 DLC. Him and Justin lead an in-depth conversion about it, while Stephen and Gary proceed to drink heavily in boredom. Then in The Drunken News, I'm sure there were some discussions about Nintendo and the NX, a bad Uncharted 4 review, single-player campaigns being cut, and a few other topics we were drunk enough to handle. This week, I ramble drunk, and Florence tries his best. We talk Star Wars Rogue One, Yugioh, Iron Fist, and none sense.
Minus awkward greetings, we get straight to the games. Anthony starts with Far Cary Primal. And that's it. Odd. Justin's next with Borderlands Pre-Sequel 2, some Fallout 4 DLC (surprise, surprise), Paper Mario: Thousand-Year Door, Quantum Break, and Simpsons Hit & Run, which he confused for Road Rage. Gary jumps in on Quantum Break and Borderlands. Finally, Brian rounds it off with Miitomo, Foul Play, and Enter the Gungeon. And Brian's back with the Drunken News this week. It’s the start of a new year and that of course means someone has to be missing. It’s alright though, as Gary Hines fills in for Justin this week. Anthony leads off with Bloodborne and Xenoblade Chronicles X. Brian shares more of his thoughts about Assassin's Creed Syndicate and then Adventure of Pip. It's a Halloween themed episode. We all tried to play games that have a Halloween "feel". Some of us better (Brian) than others. Anthony leads us off (what else is new?) and takes a step back to Yoshi's Woolly World and Dragon Quest Heros, the latter of which has become boring. Brian revels in that fact. But his Halloween game? The Evil Within. Brian on the other hand brings his 'A' game. And we all couldn't be more shamed. His first Halloween themed game is, Costume Quest 2. A podcast favorite at this point. Brian shows us how it's done with a second Halloween themed game, White Night, a game we first experienced at PAX East 2015. Justin steps in next with some finishing thoughts on Stints Row Re-elected. Then he brings his best treat with the game How To Survive, to thunderous applause. Stephen closes out this spookfest out with a Japan only fan translated game known as Clock Tower. The news, now known as "The Drunken News", is jam-packed with great topics. We've got weird changes to Uncharted 4's script, what to expect from Halo 5's multiplayer, Kojima's departure non-departure, and Aonuma's surprise twist for an open world Zelda.
