Ruby Garcia became fascinated with how culture influences leadership, and her work has focused on this topic. She is a coach and has combined her coaching knowledge with her Latina roots to provide insight into how culture impacts leadership. Ruby's interest in this area began when she worked with a coach who dismissed her family dynamics as just a story she told herself. So she created her Latina coaching business to support Latinas moving from self-sabotage to self-mastery. Here is the chisme we share: Self-care is grounded, and for Ruby, that's connecting to nature. So I spend at least an hour a day every day walking, focused on what is out there T importance of boundaries in a collective culture, such as Latine culture. She explains that it can be difficult to distinguish what belongs to an individual versus what belongs to their family or household. The works to develop the skill of identifying her feelings and establishing boundaries due to her own family's dysfunction. As an Alignment Coach, she journeys and supports creatives, podcasters, and entrepreneurs as they create podcasts and launch new business initiatives that feel good without losing themselves. The conversation goes from the depths of postpartum depression to the role play by color, have created a container of joy to remember we are not alone. Other chisme we share: Life circumstances can create barriers for Womxn of Color to discuss mental health challenges. That's why we need to create space to identify what is coming up, not just solve the problem, but create a space just to be. ATM of Joy - a term coined by Kelley Bonner (Black Girl Burnout Podcast) - is never empty. We may forget the password or forget the ATM of Joy is there, but we can always withdraw joy. Non-sufficient funds of unworthiness begone! Showing up in the good and bad moments authentically allows us to feel connected to people. Social media creates a space for the transference of power, especially in creating space for womxn of color. Where I am weak, you are strong - the memory of us all supporting one another. Wellness spaces try to sell you solutions - how to stop being depressed, lose weight, etc. - instead should focus on creating containers of support for people to figure it out together. Ease doesn't mean easy! Ease means showing up in life and feeling good about how you show up. Living a soft life is revolutionary. Creating space to rest is not indulgent.
