The Sunday Triple M NRL Catch Up - Paul Kent, Gorden Tallis, Ryan Girdler, Anthony Maroon
Adam Peacock, Danny Weidler & Michael Chammas are all in for Triple M NRL's The Journos! Kevin Walters has been announced as the new Kangaroos coach but only for three games? The latest on Hamiso Tabua-Fidow's, Payne Haas' and Tino Fa'asuamaleaui's international future? Are they likely to pick Samoa? Could a potential Samoan team beat Australia? Michael Chammas believes they could! We talk to rugby league/union agent David Rawlings about Rugby 360 but he explains that maybe the NRL won't need to worry too much of a threat. And he goes into depth about cross-code players from the professionals to the schoolboys. What happened with Kalyn Ponga last week? Was it a backflip? Did Chammas get the story right? Well.. there's even more to it! What's Des Hasler like? After that dressing room blow up, Danny shares his experience in dealing with the rugby league legend. But Chammas shares his yarn of copping a two-hour verbal assault from the great Phil "Gus" Gould. NRL, NRLW & the RLPA aren't big fans of the video game Rugby League 26 and we reminisce on this weekend's clash between Bulldogs & Sea Eagles as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 1995 Grand Final!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

After copping weeks of brutal Match Review Committee decisions that left Dylan Brown, Ryley Smith, Will Penisini and Kelma Tuilagi sidelined for a collective 9 games, the MRC has found a way to outdo itself after slapping Izack Tago with an embarrassingly weak 1 game suspension for a hip drop tackle that has rubbed Kitione Kautoga out for 8 weeks. It is a damning indictment on both the post-game process and the match officials as the wild inequities of the NRL rise to the surface. Sixties and Forty20 unload on the broken system and the maddening inconsistency of the NRL after the Eels find themselves on the wrong side of the ledger yet again. Jack De Belin's signing was confirmed by the club and the boys do a quick once over with other Tuesday staples on the docket including Team List Tuesday and the weekend recap. Newcastle dominate the NRL headlines this week with the axe rumoured to be coming for Adam O'Brien while Kalyn Ponga could be looking for the exit with speculation swirling his manager is shopping the star fullback around. The Dogs pull another switcheroo while Cody Walker is done for the year as a calf injury shuts him down.

AJ and Rhys are back to have a look at the shortened Round 12 of the NRL season. It's been a crazy week; the boys look at all the carnage at Belmore with Lachlan Galvin arriving as Reed Mahoney and Toby Sexton look set to go out the door. We decide what the go is at the Bulldogs moving forward amid the off field signing chaos. The Dogs, albeit depleted struggled on Thursday night against the Dolphins. Isaiya Katoa and Francis Molo continue their strong run form as the Dogs outside of Josh Curran and a couple others. Friday night saw the Eels led by Dean Hawkins, Junior Paulo and Jack Williams destroy a pretty lethargic Manly side with AJ ripping into Luke Brooks' ambitions to partner Jamal Fogarty in the halves. Saturday saw the Knights beat an opposition, they are familiar with, a reserve grade Panthers side as Fletcher Sharpe begins the drum beating around Kalyn Ponga's future, along with Dylan Lucas starring. Saturday's last game saw the Roosters prove way too strong for the Sharks. After AJ gets his gloating out of the way, Rhys calms him down with a scathing assessment of the Cronulla win as the Roosters young core delivers another titanic upset in 2025. The match of the round in Auckland lived up to expectations, Canberra winning a brutal struggle against the Warriors who once again switched off in the second half. We assess the battle of the forwards and the strong performance of Savelio Tamale. We then switch gears to State of Origin as the boys draw their allegiances to preview the opener from Suncorp.

With the first game of State of Origin five weeks away, team selections are already a hot topic. With Reece Walsh's injury, Kalyn Ponga is expected to take the fullback position, but now the spotlight turns to Tom Dearden and Daly Cherry-Evans. Jonathan Thurston told Jason Matthews on Wide World of Sports, "If Munster and DCE are fit, then I expect Tommy Dearden to be...he could be on the bench, he could certainly be 18th man as well." "Our strongest side at the moment it's, definitely a DCE and Cameron Munster in the halves." "But there's still five weeks to go before that comes around, so a lot can happen in five weeks," JT continued. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

With the first game of State of Origin six weeks away, team selections are already a hot topic. The debate regarding Queensland's fullback has begun, with Kalyn Ponga and Reece Walsh emerging as the frontrunners. Canberra Raider, Queensland Maroon, and Kanagraoo, Gary Belcher told Jason Matthews, "It really depends on the make up I think you've got to have Kalyn Ponga somewhere there." "I think Reece Reece Walsh is a little bit off at the moment, but there's still some time to go before Origin. If he strings a few of his best games together, he's got to be in the mix." "Kalyn Ponga [has] probably got his nose in front for mine at the moment," Mr Belcher continues.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
