After light-years away from the airwaves, the Order 66 Podcast returns with a new vigor, a new mission, and a set of gaming goals in a galaxy far, far away. GM Chris and GM Phil prepare to launch a series of new episodes all about building a brand new era and setting in the Star Wars universe: The Fractured Republic. This episode sets the stage with a lengthy and deeply passionate discussion of the eras of Star Wars, the themes that game masters and players should think about and embrace for each era, and then sees the hosts bring these themes to task as the first step in defining the timeline and storytelling goals of the new Fractured Republic setting. We also answer some excellent listener questions, and spend a fair bit of time in post-show discussion on everything from The Acolyte teaser to a spoiler-filled review of the Fallout series. It's so good to be back!

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...A small band of nitwits took on the Galactic Empire. This is the story of those intrepid rebels who built a rebellion within the twin sectors of Juvex and Senex.Ellor Sundown had been a prisoner of Rixar Traln, the vile scientist who has been experimenting with the Force; extracting the rare talents from Force users to place them in himself and his Servitors. With the help of a small band of rebels, she has hunted Rixar down across the Senex and Juvex Sectors. She nearly had him at the United Houses summit, but he got away, along with her friend and mentor, Master Dentra. Perhaps most disturbing, she learned that Dentra was not a master at all; he did not even have any powers with the Force. He has now joined with Rixar so he can be given those powers for real, along with the woman he once loved. This is a narrative description of an ongoing campaign of the Star Wars role playing game by Fantasy Flight Games. It's been a long month, but the OGL drama is finally at an end. Wizards of the Coast has capitulated and left intact the original Open Gaming License, as well as updating the 5th edition System Reference Document (basically all the core rules of the game) to the Creative Commons. Check in with Matt and Joe to talk about the future, lessons learned and getting some tips for new games. For us, this is an issue of justice. We just watched a large, wealthy corporation try to squeeze money out of smaller creators or shut them down when they become too big. But the small creators won (this time). We hope this organizing power can inspire us and equip us with tools for organizing in the face of more pressing justice issues, especially in the wake of more and more police violence in the U.S.. ON A JOB THAT GOES SOUTH, DOES HAN SOLO MEET HIS ESTRANGED FATHER? Set in the years between Solo and A New Hope, Han & Chewie are up to no good again! Join us on the first 5 issues (of 10) of their time doing a job for Jabba The Hutt where nothing seems to go right for the duo; they meet a man claiming to be Han's father, have to work with the nefarious Greedo, Chewie gets in (another) violent confrontation with the Wookiee bounty hunter Krrsantan plus so much more! Some unexpected familiar faces also appear… This story is set after the movie Solo but before A New Hope, approximately 2-8 years before the Battle of Yavin (8-2BBY). Han Solo & Chewbacca's first arc; The Crystal Run, was written by Marc Guggenheim, the artist was David Messina and the colour artist was Alex Sinclair. Issue 1 was released March 9th 2022, issue 5 was released August 10th 2022 and the trade paperback collection is due for release November 8th 2022. For other Han Solo content, Mike tackled his time in the Imperial army in ep 10 of SWCIC, Han is in the majority of 2015 Star Wars comics, which starts in ep 9 and Han's Age Of Rebellion comic is tackled in episode 47. If you want to hear Han & Chewie's canon Life Day adventure, check episode 83 of SWCIC. Last week (ep 106), Mike delved into the third batch of Crimson Reign comics, where the Crimson Dawn conspiracy continues to unravel in a galaxy of chaos. The Archivist searches the galaxy for the green Jedi Master while the bounty hunter crew plan to capture Vukorah, Aphra & Sana's search for the Spark Eternal nears its end, Sabé works to manipulate Vader and Qi'ra bargains with Leia while Zahra tortures Shara Bay – all of this is tackled this week, plus Mike provides information on Jeremy Bulloch's non-Boba-Fett character and more. This episode, by listener request, we tackle one of the most versatile and potent powers: Ebb / Flow. Not only do we discuss the RP aspects and game mechanics of this often underestimated force option, but we also dive into how both players and GMs can make the best use of Ebb / Flow at their tables. We also return to the dark-shrouded halls of When Good Games Go Bad with a question from a GM dealing with wallflower players, and answer a couple of burning listener questions about competing narrative player actions and about utilizing cross-core careers in conjunction.

This week Mike is doing a book review on Charles Soule's Light Of The Jedi as well as giving an overview in the new era of Star Wars; The High Republic! For more detail, for the first 20 minutes, Mike gives some information on The High Republic era (set 200 years before The Phantom Menace) before delving into the review - his reviews are split into 3 parts; the first is completely spoiler free, with some vague information on the book's themes, vehicles & etc while the second will have some very light spoilers, plot details and character information with the last part giving more information about certain aspects and Mike reads out a single page that he believes give a good insight into the book as a whole, but for clarity, he does not spoil the story or what happens to any characters in this recording. Light Of The Jedi was released January 5th 2021 by Charles Soule who has also written Star Wars comics including; The Rise Of Kylo Ren mini-series (ep 1 of SWCIC) the Obi-Wan & Anakin mini-series (ep 11 of SWCIC), the Lando mini-series (ep 18 of SWCIC), as well as the 31-issue run of Poe Dameron and 25-issue run of Darth Vader comics (2017) – Mike will be tackling the Poe & Vader series in the future too! Other High Republic content currently available includes; A Test Of Courage – a young reader novel by Justina Ireland, Into The Dark – a young adult novel by Claudia Gray (who Mike spoke with on SWCIC on December 12th), The High Republic comics by Cavan Scott and High Republic Adventures comics by Daniel José Older, plus Cavan Scott has the “sequel” novel to Light Of The Jedi coming out on July 6th 2021. In the last episode of SWCIC (episode 47), Mike tackled the 6 Heroes stories in the Age Of Rebellion one-shot comic series (from original trilogy); Leia in “Princess Scoundrel”, Han (& Chewie) in “Running From The Rebellion”, Lando in “Cloud City Blues”, Luke in “Fight Or Flight”, Yoda in “The Trial Of Dagobah” and Biggs Darklighter & Porkins in “Stolen Valor”, plus Mike also gives additional information about each of the characters, connections, species and more!! Mike now has a Patreon, where this review was released a day early and there's an exclusive new show “Afterthoughts”, with 2 episodes being *FREE* to anyone – one of which is S1 of the Witcher series and the other is The Phantom Menace, as Mike & Megan have started a full Star Wars run-through! Plus there are unsplit full-length episodes of his other show, Genuine Chit-Chat, additional photos (including early access to photos of comics for this show) and more, so if you want to support the show and get more content, check it out at http://patreon.com/genuinechitchat Mike was recently on Podcasts We Listen To, speaking about his show Genuine Chit-Chat and next week he talks all about this show and his love of Star Wars: http://spoti.fi/3uus0PT Mike appeared on episode 76 Frank Burton's Ragbag podcast: http://spoti.fi/3aLgx5e Mike & Megan were on the Batman retrospective on 20th Century Geek, all parts are out where they discuss Batman '66, the Burtonverse movies, Mask Of The Phantasm & the Dark Knight trilogy, part 1 here: https://spoti.fi/3sTeN2m Find Mike @GenuineChitChat on Twitter, @Genuine_ChitChat on Instagram & /GenuineChitChat on Facebook! This week features the 6 Heroes stories in the Age Of Rebellion one-shot comic series (from original trilogy); Leia in “Princess Scoundrel”, Han (& Chewie) in “Running From The Rebellion”, Lando in “Cloud City Blues”, Luke in “Fight Or Flight”, Yoda in “The Trial Of Dagobah” and Biggs Darklighter & Porkins in “Stolen Valor”, plus Mike also gives additional information about each of the characters, connections, species and more! The 4 main Age Of Republic comics were written by Greg Pak with Tamra Bonvillain as colourist and the following artists did artwork for these stories; Marc Deering, Chris Spouse, Karl Story, Will Sliney, Matteo Buffagni, Scott Koblish and Stefano Landini. The Yoda story (in AoR special) was written by Marc Guggenheim, with Andrea Broccardo as artist and Dono Sánchez-Almara as the colour artist, while the Biggs Darklighter/Porkins story was written & drawn by Jon Adams while Chris O'Halloran did the colours. Leias's comic and the AoR Special were released in April 2019, with Luke Skywalker's released June 2019 (with the other stories released in-between). The AoR Heroes trade paperback was released in August 2019 while the AoR hardcover (with heroes & villains) was released June 2020. The characters in this episode have also had a variety of mini-series between them so check out episodes; 14 for Leia, 24 & 40 for Han, 18 & 37 for Lando, 33 for Yoda and 22 for Chewbacca, as well as the variety of the main run of Star Wars comics for the usual trio! Mike will be tackling the Age Of Resistance Heroes & Villains shortly too, so be sure to subscribe for that! The short animated Leia story about her obtaining Boushh's armor is an episode of Forces Of Destiny called Bounty Hunted. In the last episode of SWCIC (episode 46), Mike tackled the weirdest (& potentially the best) instalment of Doctor Aphra so far, where Aphra has been enslaved by the homicidal protocol droid Triple-Zero to assemble a crew to steal his lost memories from some of the most secure imperial archive facilities, causing further entanglement with imperial Magna Tolvan, the capture of rebel general Hera Syndulla, setting imperial experiments free and much more! Mike now has a Patreon, where there's an exclusive new show “Afterthoughts” (with 2 episodes being *FREE* to anyone – one of which is S1 of the Witcher series and the other is The Phantom Menace, as Mike & Megan have started a full Star Wars run-through), plus there are unsplit full-length episodes of GCC, additional photos (including early access to photos of comics for this show) and more, so if you want to support the show and get more content, check it out at http://patreon.com/genuinechitchat Mike was recently on Podcasts We Listen To, speaking about his show Genuine Chit-Chat and next week he talks all about this show and his love of Star Wars: http://spoti.fi/3uus0PT Mike appeared on episode 76 Frank Burton's Ragbag podcast: http://spoti.fi/3aLgx5e Mike & Megan were on the Batman retrospective on 20th Century Geek, all parts are out where they discuss Batman '66, the Burtonverse movies, Mask Of The Phantasm & the Dark Knight trilogy, part 1 here: https://spoti.fi/3sTeN2m Find Mike @GenuineChitChat on Twitter, @Genuine_ChitChat on Instagram & /GenuineChitChat on Facebook! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/comics-in-motion-podcast/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/comics-in-motion-podcast/support
