It was a pleasure to welcome Daire, John & Lachlan of Fornoth, Brendan from Black Shuck and Praetorian from Eternal Helcaraxe to the show. They were all on the show to discuss the upcoming Four Provinces Tour in May, which features seven bands and different line-ups every night over five shows in Dublin, Belfast, Galway twice and Limerick. A tour featuring this amount of heft plus the fact that it's all Irish bands; hasn't happened in a while so we discuss this and the other acts completing this exciting bill, Grey Stag, Grave Sermon, Steiner and LaVein. There's plenty of updates on what fans can expect set-list wise from Fornoth, Black Shuck and Eternal Helcaraxe and news on all three bands in relation to new music. We get an exclusive listen to a new Fornoth demo and of course there's plenty of banter as well. Hope you enjoy the show, please 'SUBSCRIBE' to The Metal Cell YouTube channel and check out all the bands mentioned on the show. Thanks Richie. It was a pleasure to welcome back Jeff (Guitars/Vox) & Rennick (Drums) to talk about their brilliant newly released album 'All Pleasure Is Just Relief'. Danielle and me get a run through the whole album with the lads along with the usual crazy stories that seem to follow the band. It's certainly Strangers With Guns heaviest release yet; it's another step up in both song writing and musicianship, showing you how diverse and imaginative Stranger With Guns have become. Jeff and Rennick recorded the album as a two piece with the legendary Mick Richards at TrackMix Studios in Dublin and the benefits of working with Mick are evident right through the whole album. Despite losing the much loved Ricky Wright on bass, SWGS's welcomed the excellent 'Watchy' to the band, bringing a whole new dynamic to their live shows. Catch Strangers With Guns playing Indie Festival Cork on July 31st. Hope you enjoy the episode and please 'SUBSCRIBE' to The Metal Cell YouTube Channel to see more of this content. Myself and my co-host Danielle were delighted to welcome John Collard (Vocals) and Tom Ambrose (Bass) of Dublin based band Neon Empire. The band are an exciting additional to the Metal scene with a clever blend of Metal Core, Electro-Metal added to other elements to form Neon Empires unique sound. The four piece, completed by Guitarist/Vocalist Hassan Ali and Drummer Veronika Švecová are certainly causing waves both here and further afield with the release of their latest single the infectious "City Lights". With work well on the way in relation to songs completed for a new album, the band are poised to take further strides in 2022. A headline gig in Fibber Magees in December promises to give fans what they've been missing from the band that deserves to be heard live. I was delighted to welcome Gary Kelly, the Irish vocalist and guitarist of MOLYBARON. Gary talked about his move from Dublin to Paris which kick started his love for metal and ended up with him creating demos in 2014, It took meeting Steven Andre (guitarist) that planted the seed for the band MOLYBARON slowly took to grow. While Gary wrote and recorded the songs in his bedroom which eventually turned out to be their self titled album; they learned the hard way that being in a metal band in Paris didn't gaurantee them an audience and success. A few years later, with Sebastien De Saint-Angel (Bass) and Camille Greneron (drums) they are about to release their sophomore album titled "The Mutiny". It contains ten songs describing the uphill struggle to overcome mental health issues – depression, guilt, drug and alcohol use. Having released three singles off "The Mutiny" Rolling Stone and Rock Hard magazine have all wrote glowing reports on the band, signing to Sony's 'InsideOut' music and with live gigs on the horizon, it's certainly an important few months ahead for MOLYBARON. Hope you enjoy the episode and please "Subscribe" to The Metal Cell on YouTube. Thanks, Richie. Song: Slave To The Algorithm (c) MOLYBARON, 2021 all rights reserved. Myself and my co-host Joe welcomed Dave Brady to The Metal Cell Podcast for a brilliant chat about ForeignWolf. Formed in 2019 the Northern Ireland band have been steadily building an audience with their groove driven and hook laden music. ForeignWolf will appeal to fans of Thin Lizzy, Therapy, Pantera and many more. The latest release of Your Weapons, Your Words caused many people to sit up in the music industry and resulted in ForeignWolf being snapped up by Wormhole Death Records. The future looks bright for ForeignWolf and like every band they are desperate to gig and build on their early promise. If you liked the episode be sure to subscribe to the show. Thanks for your support. Richie. Afterthought (c) Foreignwolf, 2021 all rights reserved. Band Links: https://www.facebook.com/ForeignWolfni https://foreignwolf.bigcartel.com
I was delighted to welcome Marco Feltrin (Vocals) and Mat Maher (Bass) of The Risen Dread to the show. The lads along with Colum Cleary (Drums) and Will Ribeiro (Guitars) have been busy preparing for the 2022 release of their much anticipated album "Night Hag". The talented Josh Robinson of JSR Audio is behind the desk for the release and by the sound of their incredible single "White Knight" it's going to be worth the wait. The guest appearances of Andreas Kisser on "White Knight" along with the the multi talented Renato Zanuto; who as a conductor, composer appeared on the last three Sepultura albums only adds to the excitement for fans of The Risen Dread. Having been snapped up by Wormholedeath Records is another sign that this band are going to be one of the most exciting Irish Metal acts in 2022. Hope you enjoy the episode and again please "SUBSCRIBE" to the Metal Cell YouTube channel if you haven't already! Thanks Richie. White Knight (c) The Risen Dread, 2021 all rights reserved. It was a pleasure to finally get to chat with Jason Christy (Drums) of Words That Burn. The band had just come back from Bloodstock 2021 after playing a blistering set to a huge crowd on the New Blood Stage. I was interested to see how their terrific new song "Den of Lions" went down and to see if Jason had any updates in relation to the new songs they had been working on during lockdown. Josh Schroeder (King 810, Of Virtue) is working with Words That Burn and going by what Jason says it will be an exciting time for fans of the band so hopefully we should see a few more single releases this side of 2021 If you like the interview please "Subscribe" to The Metal Cell on YouTube. It was a pleasure to welcome Gavin (Drums) & Taran (Drums) of Bicurious. The duo certainly have been making waves in the alternative rock scene with some terrific single releases and crushing live performances. The nine tracks of their new release (re)constructed thematically follows a timeline of events in Gavin's and Taran's life, which included a psychotic episode, fatherhood and a period of uncertainty that nearly saw the band split up. The album was recorded in Trapdoor Studio's in Liverpool (UK) by Tom Peters in 2020 and the lads give us a great insight into all the songs and future plans for the band. If you enjoyed the interview and please subscribe to The Metal Cell channel. Thanks Richie. Song: Bicurious (c) Deconstructed, 2021 all rights reserved. It was a pleasure to interview Steve (Guitars) & Luke (Bass) of Belfast based band Puresonic Outcasts. The band have just released a killer e.p called "Reflections on this Present Condition" and along with the two other members Martin (Vocals/Guitars) & Graham (Drums) are ready to bring their stoner infused punk/metal shows to a hungry audience! Frontman/guitarist Martin was born in Argentina and moved to Belfast a few years ago to form Puresonic Outcasts. His unique voice along with the blend of all the other members influences allow PSO to freely explore a wide range of styles yet compact it nicely into their new release "Reflections on this Present Condition". You can check them out in the final of Metal2themasses in Belfast on July 10th 2021. If you enjoyed the show please subscribe to the channel. Thank you. Richie. Sinocence have been together for twenty years, playing and touring a brand of ferocious metal that has seen them get critical acclaim both here in Ireland and in Europe. Landing support slots to Machine Head, Soulfly and In Flames to name but a few the four piece recruited a fifth member Duane to take on the role of lead vocalist in 2018. Despite losing founding member "Moro" (guitars/vocals) they have recruited wisely but Covid has stopped them from touring and releasing new music. However songwriting has been going on behind the scenes and after you finish the interview you'll find a band that's very hungry to make up for lost time with some crushing new slabs of metal. Many times, when people think of spirits, they instantly think of Casper the Friendly Ghost or maybe the 1980’s hit Ghostbusters. Tons family stories are told of shadows in a particular part of the house or an orb that aunt Rhonda caught in a picture one time. This idea has started to change in the common consciousness with the combining of ghostly happenings with entertainment. Paranormal research groups featured on television strive for proof of the existence of an afterlife and unfortunately, sometimes, they also strive for ratings. So, looking for the spookiest occurrences they can catch on film whether it be disembodied whispers, audible footsteps, or any kind of reaction at all from reported specters serves the dual purpose. While some places that are said to offer a glimpse to the other side via contact with spirits, may be hit or miss when it comes to providing onlookers with “reliable” evidence, other places have made such a name for themselves that the mere mention of them is all that is needed to conjure emotions. Our topic today tends to do just that. Idolizing the old time country singers like Hank Wiliams, George Jones, and Conway Twitty, Bobby Mackey carried his passion for country music most of his life. From singing songs in his backyard that he heard on the Grand Ole’ Opry to buying and opening his own honkytonk, he would unwittingly throw himself into another kind of spotlight...a paranormal one. Thank you for joining us this week on the Supernatural Tendencies Podcast where we’ll hop into one of the most well known paranormal hotspots this side of the Mississippi. And hang out after the show for this week’s musician spotlight, this week featuring The Russells. I’m Alex, and I’m Christie, and this is Episode 26. Bobby Mackey’s Haunted Music World. This month we talked to Tarek (aka Rick) and Caleb from Intercourse - self-described jocular noisy AmRep loving band. Beyond that, Tarek and his brother took a love for a similar described band from Florida called Load to possibly the highest level - beyond styling the band after them, Tarek and his brother made a documentary about Load. We talk briskly about that. We talk about 4 day tours. We talk about bodily fluids... yep, if that kind of thing makes you queasy let it be know that towards the end there is a robotic voice that will warn you it is coming up (yikes, PUNishing).
