On July 11th, 1996, the half-naked body of Blair Adams, a 31-year-old Canadian citizen, was found in the parking lot of a construction site in Knoxville, Tennessee. He had been beaten to death and surrounding him were thousands of dollars in cash, gold, jewelry and travel documents. Detectives soon learned that in the days leading up to his murder, Blair had been acting strange. He told his friends that someone was trying to kill him, and he needed to get to the United States. Then, without warning, he left Canada, criss-crossing the U.S. border, switching vehicles, buying plane tickets, before finally ending up in Knoxville, a city where he didn't know anyone. Nearly 29 years later, investigators still don't know who killed Blair Adams, or why he was in Knoxville in the first place. Blaire Adams was last seen on surveillance footage at 7:37 p.m. on July 10th, 1996, walking out of the Fairfield Inn lobby in Knoxville, Tennessee, just off Strawberry Plains Pike. Early the next morning, his body was found in a parking lot of a nearby construction site, and he had been brutally beaten. Anyone with information in this case should contact the Knox County Sheriff's Office at (865) 215-2243. Blair Adams was from Surrey British Columbia, Canada, was 31 years old and had a good job as a construction site manager. He had struggled with drugs and alcohol at one point in his life, but, at the time of his death, had been sober for two years. On Friday, July 5th, 1996, Blair went to the bank and drained his checking and savings accounts. He then tried to get over the Canadian border to Seattle, Washington by ferry. He was turned away because of the large amounts of cash and gold coins he had with him. On Monday, July 8th, Blair, without warning, quit his job at the construction site and left for the airport to buy a $1700 ticket to Germany. But, instead of going to Germany, he purchased another round-trip ticket to Washington D.C. and made it to the nation's capital. From there, he rented a car and drove south. And this is where Blair Adams' story gets even stranger. From "losing" the keys to the rental car, to driving to Knoxville, Tennessee, to loitering in the lobby of a hotel for an hour, to being found dead in the parking lot of another hotel under construction on the morning of July 11, Blair Adams' mystery death gets even creepier. Was he murdered in cold blood, and, if so, for what reason? Or was his death simply a tragic accident?Show Notes:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/thinking-sideways-blair-adams/id679462887?i=1000364153311https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0737586/

See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Episode 304: On the morning of July 11, 1996, police were called to the parking lot of a hotel under construction off Interstate 40 at 7471 Crosswood Boulevard in Knoxville, Tennesee. There, they found the body of a man, later identified as Robert Dennis Blair Adams, 31, a Canadian citizen from Surrey, B.C. Family and friends called him Blair. Scattered around his body were personal items belonging to Blair and almost $4000 in various currencies, including Canadian, American, and German money. A black fanny pack near Blair's body was found to be filled with nearly 5 ounces of gold bars, as well as gold and platinum coins and jewelry. It was later determined that Blair had been beaten and left to die in the parking lot where he was discovered. It is unclear why Blair was in Tennessee, thousands of kilometres from home and in another country. His family later said Blair had been acting strangely and was suffering from insomnia. He told them he believed people were after him and wanted him dead. He had quit his job, emptied his bank account and safety deposit box and left home for good only two days before his body's discovery. As Blair's significant amount of cash and valuables lay untouched, the motive for his murder remains a mystery, as does the identity of his killer or killers. He had been severely beaten, and his death was caused by septic shock from a ruptured stomach. Prior to his murder, Adams had withdrawn most of his money from his bank account and emptied his safe deposit box. He also attempted to enter the United States several times where eventually made his way via rental cars and then took a plane to Washington D.C. and then a car to Tennessee despite not record or evidence he'd ever been to these places before or knew anyone there. When the body was found on the afternoon of July 11th, Blair was discovered nude from the waist down with evidence he had possibly been assaulted prior to his death. In his hand they found a long strand of black hair which they believe may have belonged to a woman. Þann 4. júlí 1996 byrjaði Blair að haga sér mjög furðulega en það kviknuðu svosem engar viðvörunarbjöllur hjá fjölskyldunni hans strax. Hann reyndi m.a. nokkrum sinnum að fara yfir til Bandaríkjanna frá Kanada en var stoppaður á landamærunum vegna gruns um að hann væri að smygla einhverju þar á milli, en að lokum tókst það og hélt þetta spontant ferðalag hans áfram alla leiðina til Knoxville í Tennesse þar sem hann að lokum fannst látinn eftir nokkuð undarlegt ferðalag. www.pardus.is/mordskurinn www.facebook.com/mordskurinn www.instagram.com/mordskurinn

Blair Adams is a Canadian man who was found murdered in Knoxville TN July 11, 1996 - the peculiar part of his case are the events leading up to his death - he was convinced that someone or something was after him - he was found with his pants having been pulled off , signs of sexual assault , and forty thousand dollars in Canadian, German and US monies - he had been running for months from an unforeseen entity and that's only the beginning of this weird and tragic case. Listen in as I go over some of the more peculiar details - also Harmony Montgomery is talked about at the end of this episode - a five year old killed by her father.
Blair Adams began acting strange, believing someone was after him… then ended up dead.
Blair Adams was a 31-year-old man from Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, who fully believed that someone was after him, following him, trying to kill him. His friends and family thought that the historically cheerful Blair must be suffering from some sort of mental illness, so they didn't take what he was saying seriously. Until, July 5, 1996, when Blair decided to quit his job, empty his bank account and flee across the American border. While there, several witnesses reported seeing him acting erratically. He appeared very paranoid, obviously still believing that his life was in danger. But again - no one took him seriously. Then, shockingly just a few days later, Blair's body would be discovered in a parking lot in Knoxville, Tennessee. He had been beaten to death and was naked from the waist down. There was cash totalling $4,000 in various currencies scattered all around his body. His gold jewelry also had not been stolen from his body. So what happened to Blair Adams? Was someone really following him, trying to kill him? Or was this some kind of coincidence - a random act of violence towards a man who just so happened to think someone was after him? 31-year old Blair Adams had some struggles in his life, but in 1996, he was, generally speaking in a good place. He had been sober for two years and was attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings regularly. By all accounts, he was on the right track. But things would not be alright for Blair in the weeks leading up to his mysterious death in a city he had no ties to. He started acting strangely, making mistakes at work, and seemed incredibly uneasy and paranoid. He confided in a few people that he was afraid for his life. The days leading up to Blair's ultimate demise would be so perplexing as a paper trail revealed a bizarre and nonsensical sequence of events, including a journey between two countries. Each clue in this story is more baffling than the last, and 26 years later, no one knows who was out to get Blair Adams, or why he ended up dead in a strange location thousands of miles from his home. Blair Adam's murder is a baffling mystery to say the least. He was a normal Canadian construction foreman who started displaying some odd behaviors days before he died. Blair took all of his savings out of the bank and tried multiple times to cross the border into the United States. Random plane tickets were purchased and never used and somehow through a series of unfortunate events he ends up in Tennessee. He never leaves Knoxville alive. Who killed Blair Adams? In July 1996, the body of Blair Adams was found in a parking lot of a construction site in Knoxville, Tennessee. Circumstances surrounding his death were already unusual - he was partially clothed, he had severe injuries to his body, and among his pockets and belongings found nearby were thousands of dollars in cash, gold bars, platinum and jewelry. Investigators soon discovered the days before his death were just as mysterious - Blair had sudden behavioral changes, thought people were coming to kill him, and embarked on an international road trip that his friends and family struggled to make sense of. Was Blair's paranoia justified? Was he having a mental break of some sort? Who would kill him and leave the valuables behind? Police still grapple with these questions, as his case is still unsolved.
In the summer of 1996, Canadian Blair Adams quit his job, closed his bank accounts, and tried desperately to get into the United States for fear that someone was trying to kill him. After several failed attempts, he finally succeed in getting into the United States where he embarked on a head scratching journey. He travelled from Vancouver to Seattle by car, then Seattle to DC by plane, and then from DC to Knoxville by car. It is not know if Knoxville was his final destination or not but he was found July 11, 1996 murdered in the parking lot of an under construction hotel in Knoxville, TN. He was found with his pants off, shirt ripped open, shoe under his head, and with several thousand dollars of money spread around him. To this day, his murder remains unsolved. On this episode, we discuss his trip, his murder, and our speculation as to what happened. This episode is sponsored by Eko Health.
Typically cheerful and optimistic Blair Adams enjoyed his work in construction but in the time leading up to his murder, he was stressed, paranoid, sleep-deprived, and telling everyone around that someone was going to kill him. After several attempts to flee Canada, Blair finally made his way into the US but his eluding behavior ultimately ended in Knoxville, Tennessee where his body was found on July 11, 1996. Jenn, Court, and Bec follow Blair's movements as he seemingly does everything he can to evade whoever is after him while pondering what exactly could be the motive for such a violent murder. This episode also recognized Zaylee Fryar who went missing May 1, 2011, from Millersville Tennessee.Listen to the Episode for all the details and visit finalminutespodcast.com for pictures and sources!

Normally, the facts of a case help to clear up the full story. However, as more facts come to light, these cases become more confusing, leaving theories to be the only means of closure. These are the cases of Blair Adams and Lars Mittank.
