Joey and Dan had been best friends since the first grade. They were the kind of friends who finished each other's sentences, laughed at jokes no one else understood, and always had each other's backs. One summer, they decided to enter the town's annual scavenger hunt—a legendary event with a grand prize of two brand-new bikes. The challenge? Solve riddles that led to hidden clues all over town.At first, they were unstoppable. Joey's quick thinking and Dan's sharp memory helped them breeze through the first few clues. But then, disaster struck. The next clue was hidden at the top of Miller's Hill, a steep and rocky climb. Joey insisted on going first. Halfway up, his foot slipped, and he tumbled down, scraping his knee badly.Dan rushed to his side. "Joey! Are you okay?"Joey winced but nodded. "I can keep going."Dan shook his head. "No way. You're hurt. We'll find another way.""But the bikes—""Forget the bikes," Dan said firmly. "You're more important."Instead of climbing, Dan found a hidden side path. Supporting Joey, they reached the top together and found the clue. They were the last team to finish—but they finished together. At the awards ceremony, the mayor surprised them with a special prize—two brand-new bikes, not for winning, but for demonstrating true friendship.Joey and Dan rode home side by side, knowing they had won something even greater than the scavenger hunt. They had proven that true friendship wasn't about winning—it was about always being there for each other, no matter what. In this one-off special episode of Bigger Movie Pod, we pay tribute to our dear friend and fellow presenter, Dave. We are thrilled to have his daughter, Emma, joining us as our special guest. We are also pleased to welcome back Darren, our former presenter, as we say our farewell. What began as a duo blossomed into a podcast family of four, plus a whole community of friends. We had big plans for this episode, hoping to bring everyone together, but time was not on our side. Earlier this year, we received heartbreaking news about Dave. Leading up to this final show, we collected messages from the podcast community to share with him, including heartfelt words from Dan of Casting Views and a touching note from Nico of Silver Screen Dudes and Movie Mount Rushmore. A huge thanks goes out to PollyAnnamazing from Buried Pleasures, who connected with us like family, even reaching out to Dave directly—a gesture he truly appreciated. We also want to recognize Josh from TalkingSMAC, Stew from Stew World Order, Ian from Best Film Ever, The Vern from Cinema Recall, as well as Leo, Le-Than, Slinky, and Wes for all their support. And of course, a massive thank you to all of you, our listeners. Your support and enthusiasm have kept this journey going, and we could not have done it without you. So, tune in as we celebrate the laughs, the friendships, and all the memories that have made Bigger Movie Pod what it is. Thank you for being part of the ride!

Which film trailer/previews make you want to spend your hard earned cash at the cinema?Let Sean and Sarah help with that, by reviewing trailers for upcoming films and a few old favourites.Welcome to Preview it Yourself. This time around, Sean decides to show Sarah the trailer for Gladiator II (2024). He apologises first.Discussion Points:-Lower your expectations. -The long muted Gladiator sequel ideas. -The justification for making the film. -The horrendous soundtrack for the trailer and why Hans Zimmer hasn't returned to score this film.-Whether the cast can elevate this film like Russell Crowe did with the original.-Sean and Sarah also review the Gladiator (2000) trailer.-A mini-review of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008).-Sarah and Sean try to remain positive.-The downgrade from tiger to rhinoceros.-Sean and Sarah agree to eat humble pie if the film is good. Raised Questions:-Is it mean to make someone watch this trailer?-Have we gone backwards in making films?-Who the hell signed off on the music?-Why does the trailer make the film seem like a pantomime?-Why would you even dare to make a sequel to such a behemoth of cinema?-Would you watch "Aqueduct Shark"?-Did the Romans ever have two Emperors at once?-Is the cast of Gladiator II too big?-Why does Sarah refuse to go camping?Quotes of the episode:-"What the f**k is this film meant to be?".-"If this film is better than Gladiator (2000) then I will shut the podcast down".-"This is so 2024 it hurts...what are you doing!?".-"I'm making a lot of assumptions on [an awful] trailer".-"I don't think people know how to make trailers anymore".Shout-out to Dan from Casting Views for his feedback on this Preview It Yourself side-series. The first official (recorded) PodPack Collective Collaboration with Dan from Casting Views. Sean is joined by the English Linguist a.k.a. Dan from Casting Views to review Rocky (1976)-a boxing film which isn't about boxing. *The film review begins at 10.35 minutes. Discussion Points: -A quick explanation of 'The PodPack Collective', with it's current members at the time of recording. -The irrelevance of the boxing. -The realistic performances in the film. -The writing talent of Sylvester Stallone. -The American Dream and strugling with your 'lot in life'. -The tormented character of Paulie. -Dan and Sean discuss 'Paulie's outburst' scene. -The importance of a gym locker. Raised Questions: -What is The PodPack Collective? -How had Sean never seen this before? -What is that driver's problem? -How much did that hat cost? -Is the ice-skating scene better with nobody in it? -Why does the film feel so real? Dan will return to review The Godfather (1972). This film was recorded before the passing of Carl Weathers. Thanks for Listening! Review It Yourself is now on YouTube!
