Interview by Kris PetersAmerican Pie Emo Night is coming to Australia, celebrating 25 years of the infamous movie American Pie featuring Thomas Nicholas Band. Frontman, Thomas Ian Nicholas is best known as Kevin Myers from the films.Thomas began his acting career on Who's the Boss? playing a young Tony Danza. At age 12, Nicholas embarked on a series of feature films that would shape his young adult career, including Rookie of the Year, A Kid in King Arthur's Court. By 18 he had recurring roles on hit TV shows like Party of Five and the role of Kevin Myers in the extremely successful American Pie franchise.Over the last 15 years his band has played over 1000 concerts in 12 countries and released a half dozen studio albums. Thomas' fourth release, a self-titled EP, first single My Generation was included on the American Reunion soundtrack album. The song has received global radio play and is close to 1 million streams on Spotify. Most recently, their seventh studio album We're Gonna Be Okay was released by SBÄM Records and Double Helix Records on May 17, 2024 produced by Taylor Carroll (LIT) and includes features from Bowling For Soup, Less than Jake, The Early November and Ayron Jones. In 2015, Thomas co-write and performed the song All the Way which was included on Blue Traveler's album, Blow Up the Moon and in 2022 Thomas released 1999, a parody to Bowling for Soup's 1985.Now, for the first time ever, Thomas is headed to Australia to celebrate life, love, music and 25 years of American Pie. HEAVY had a great chat with the great man earlier this week."Man, it's really a highlight moment for me that has opened up so many doors," he smiled when asked what American Pie means to him 25 years on. "Here I am 25 years later and the success of this billion dollar franchise is giving me the opportunity to come and tour Australia. The doors that it opens for me just continue to happen, and I'm so thankful."We ask him what his first impressions were when asked to be in a movie that involved the now infamous pie scene."My initial reaction was actually way worse than you could think," he teased. "The first scene in the movie was Kevin and Vicky, not Jim and his sock puppet (laughs). It was Vicky instructing Kevin on which way to use his fingers… we'll let you put the rest of the scene together in your own mind - so I threw the script in the trash and called my agent and said 'why are you sending me porn?"In the full interview, Thomas relives other moments from the American Pie franchise, discusses his relationship with Ned Kelly, talks about his band - the Thomas Nicholas Band, what to expect from them live, working with Bowling For Soup and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.
A new year. A new us.Well, not really. It's the same show basically, just a little older and tired. We're the podcast equivalent of just wanting to go to your bed and having a lie-down. Kinda like the old saps in this fourth (and final) mainline installment of the AMERICAN PIE film series (we're not counting all the straight-to-DVD films either). This is AMERICAN REUNION! And we're back with this bunch of reprobates as they've hit full adulthood and struggling with the woes that come with that. Again, this is another excuse to see what nonsense Jim finds himself brutalizing his member over. It's hilarious.Weren't the 90's awesome?

Joe & Adam take a big bite out of the fourth American Pie film - and boy does it taste bad. It's a sad lads reunion, but they make the best of it!
It's an American Reunion! No, not that one, the one where Ben reunites with the podcast he and Allen started three years ago. While Allen is busy being a new dad, Ben is dipping his toe back into red, white, and blue waters. On this episode, he discusses the first three of nine movies with American in the title released since 2020, examining the convoluted machinations of government programs in American Carnage, the corruption of local leaders in American Siege, and the aspirations of an American Underdog.
Drew and Badway did not record a new episode this week, but they DID participate in an amazing live stream with Ken Cole and special guest Hayden Schlossberg (Cobra Kai co-creator, writer/filmmaker behind the Harold and Kumar series, American Reunion, and the upcoming Netflix series Obliterated). The guys also map out their future by running through their upcoming Summer of Sequels schedule. Hope you all had a great 4th! We'll be back with a new episode on Thursday, July 13th! [School of Movies 2022] WARNING: This episode contains foul language and repeated references to very crude sexual situations, bodily fluids and some nasty-as-hell behaviour. Thou art warned! This began as a simple re-watch of the original 1999 film "American Pie", but it quickly spiralled into a look back on the gross, frat-house movie craze of the early 2000s. We go through each film in turn and mine them for anything even remotely positive, before spanking the living hell out of them for their awful, creepy and sometimes disturbing attempts to wrestle laughs out of an audience that was growing up faster than they were. American Pie 2 (2001) reunited the gang for spring break, American Wedding (2003) saw two of the more wholesome characters get married, whilst also depicting what I dubbed then and now as the death of comedy, maybe even the death of narrative cinema! And then the one with the most potential for retrospection on our own filthy, mistake-filled youths American Reunion (2012) brought everyone back as adults, thinning hairlines and disappointment all-round. And somehow, despite all the ingredients being present, they managed to bake their most rotten apple pie last! And yet despite all this, we managed to pull together one of the most fun shows we've done. This is going to be a favourite for some listeners.

Trailers of her movies can be accessed on https://bit.ly/1jKFKu2. She was the screenwriter on American Reunion. She is very open about the fact that she thought she could make movies about troubled characters to heal audiences, but found frustration in limited distribution of her films. Her personal crisis and recovery from sexual abuse and addictions after the birth of her second child led her to discover book coaching, and she opened her company A Story Inside. She coaches women ready to speak their truth through writing their books. Writing is a challenge for many people, then add in recovery from the shame and denial of sexual abuse. Kim's book makes healing through writing accessible to anyone with her signature writing prompts. No subject is untouched, from spirituality to sexuality, and she is candid about all the maneuvers she did to avoid facing this dark shadow in her life. On this week's episode of Minds Over Money, Cameron goes over 3 headlines from last week that directly impact the economy and potentially your investment portfolio. Cameron also covers another one of the 12 great mistakes we find investors make – not selling an investment due to losses or taxes. This week's headlines are all from The Wall Street Journal. The first headline, “American Reunion Summer”, is an article that explores how more and more people around the country are planning on seeing extended family this summer as Coronavirus fears subside. The second headline, “Business Travel is Back”, discusses the emergence of business travel after 14 months of lockdowns and what that means for the travel industry. Our final headline, “Is Inflation Here to Stay”, is a deep dive into the recent creep of inflation into our daily lives, and whether it is here to stay or just a phenomenon brought on by pent-up demand and supply chain issues. Hope you enjoy it!

Cheat: How do you feel about big celebs breaking into the streaming space? Does it help or hurt?Twitch will now use an ‘investigative partner' for off-platform misconduct Twitch is making major moves to deal with Harassment and Misconduct. From the VergeOn Wednesday, Twitch announced an expansion of its Hateful Conduct and Harassment Policy that takes into account behavior taking place off of the platform. A blog post from the company shared that the it is bringing on a “third party investigative partner” to support Twitch's internal team with investigations, and to help enforce off-platform violations.Per Twitch's post, the new partner is an “experienced investigations law firm” that will help the company to “more thoroughly investigate and respond to reports of off-service misconduct.” In addition to adding sheer numbers to the team that investigates incident reports, the post also shared that there will a dedicated email address for people to report “egregious, off-service misconduct.”The post elaborated on two categories of off-service enforcement:Category one: Someone is harassed on Twitch, as well as off Twitch. When this happens, we will take into account verifiable, off-service behaviors or statements that relate to an incident that took place on Twitch. For example: if we're reviewing a harassment report about an incident that happened live on stream, related or continued harassment on Twitter could be taken into account when reported to us. This is how our current off-service policy works in the vast majority of cases, and will not change.Category two: We will now enforce against serious offenses that pose a substantial safety risk to the Twitch community, even if these actions occur entirely off Twitch. The newly expanded enforcement will be focusing on some of the most “egregious types of physical and psychological harm,” including but limited to: deadly violence and violent extremism, carrying out or acting as an accomplice to non-consensual sexual activities and/or sexual assault, and sexual exploitation of children.Rogue: Obviously this has major upside in helping curb terrible crimes. Do you see any possible pitfalls here?Twitch streamer hits 1k subs during subathon trapped in a closet In our first story, Who knows what category this goes under on Twitch. A streamer is doing a subathon in a very peculiar fashion From DexertoA Twitch streamer by the name ‘IZIDORE' has hit 1,000 subscribers on the streaming platform thanks to a subathon – all while trapped in a closet with balloons and, bizarrely, a leaf-blower. It was through a subathon that streamer Ludwig became Twitch's most subscribed to creator, with over 120,000 subscribers and a 240+ hour stream. While IZIDORE, with just over 8,000 followers on Twitch, could not realistically hope for a similarly monumental response, he probably got more than he bargained for when hitting 1,000 subscribers. However, the twist for IZIDORE was that the whole subathon would be completed from inside of a fairly modest closet. The closet, too, would become filled with balloons as a result of bit donations. What other sort of gimmick subathons will streamers come up with?Tech/Gaming News - Brought to you by our merch store! YouTube: Videos With Moderate Profanity, Drug Content Can Be MonetizedWe are far enough into this video so we can curse. I wouldn't though because I am an angel. From VarietyYouTube said it expanded its monetization policies to allow for moderate profanity — for example, “shit” and “bitch” — used in the first 30 seconds of a video. It already had allowed light profanity (like “hell” or “damn”) throughout videos and in video titles, as well as censored profanity (including the f-word and gestures like the middle finger) and infrequent usage of strong profanity (like the f-word) after the first 30 seconds. In addition, YouTube will allow ads for more videos about “recreational drugs and drug-related content,” including those that “focus on the purchase, fabrication or distribution of drugs, such as the fabrication of home-made opioids” and “news reports about cannabis farms.” It also is granting more leeway for videos with adult themes “delivered through the context of humor” (e.g. romance and dating jokes) and for sex-education content.“Based on creator and advertiser input, we've updated our guidelines to allow more content to become eligible for full monetization (green icon) while continuing to maintain advertiser industry standards,” YouTube said in an update on its support site. It's a continuation of YouTube's gradual easing up on monetization restrictions. In 2017, as part of its attempts to become more “brand safe” for major marketers, YouTube began demonetizing videos and channels that ran afoul of advertiser-friendly guidelines. That crackdown — dubbed the “adpocalypse” — resulted in some creators experiencing significant ad-revenue losses.Cheat: This seems like a good thing for creators especially when things are live like this show but dont you think it would make sense to allow brands to choose what sort of content they are advertised w/ instead of blanket bans on things?Twitch Streamer xQc Banned From NoPixel GTA Roleplay Server Yet AgainIn a shocking turn of events xQc has been banned from a major platform….said no one ever. What wont this guy do and when will people have enough of his SHENANIGANS.From Gamerantelix "xQc" Lengyel has now racked up three bans from the Grand Theft Auto Online NoPixel roleplay server in three months. Those familiar with the former Overwatch pro's streaming career know he's an often controversial figure in streaming circles and this isn't the first game he's upset other streamers in. While playing in the Rust OfflineTV server late last year, xQc's actions frustrated others to the point that popular streamer Shroud said he would kick xQc from the server. Although the reason for xQc's latest ban from NoPixel isn't exactly clear, he's become a notorious figure in the NoPixel roleplay community.xQc's first ban came as a result of directly breaking NoPixel's server rules by killing other characters without cause. His antics reached another peak recently when xQc decided to exploit a glitch to bring a gun into a police department. After being confronted, he shot up the police department, and for this xQc was banned from NoPixel for a second time. The reason behind xQc's third ban has yet to be officially confirmed by the NoPixel roleplay server, but there's already lots of speculation, with some believing his reaction to an in-game jail sentence is the cause. After Jean Paul was sentenced to 224 months in jail for all of his antics, xQc was frustrated. Some of his Twitch chat members said they would "chat hop" to go grief some of the police roleplayers, to which xQc responded "thank god."One of the highlighted rules for the NoPixel server claims participants can be banned at any time for "breeding toxicity," and encouraging toxic chats seems to be within this scope. xQc later posted a short statement on Twitter apologizing to his streaming audience but also encouraged them not to spread hatred and to calm down.Rogue: When is it enough with this guy? How long will he be allowed to just continually break rules and push peoples buttons?Elon Musk's Neuralink Shows Monkey Playing Video Game With Mind: WatchElon Musk finally got to show off his monkey.Neuralink, a company founded by Musk that is developing artificial-intelligence-powered microchips to go in people's brains, released a video Thursday appearing to show a macaque using the tech to play video games, including "Pong."Musk has boasted about Neuralink's tests on primates before, but this is the first time the company has put one on display. During a presentation in 2019, Musk said the company had enabled a monkey to "control a computer with its brain."In August 2020 the company did a live demonstration of the technology in a pig named Gertrude. Neuralink says the monkey, named Pager, had a chip implanted in his brain six weeks ago. In the video, he was given a joystick that was hooked up to a video game in which he moves a cursor to a colored square. When he successfully moves the cursor, he's given some banana smoothie through a tube. While Pager uses the joystick, the Neuralink chip records his brain activity and sends it back to a computer for analysis of what his brain does when he moves his hand. The joystick is then unplugged from the machine, but the monkey continues to control the game, with brain signals being relayed by the Neuralink chips.Theoretically, the same tech could be used to give people control of synthetic limbs via a Neuralink brain implant. In a tweet Thursday, Musk said the first Neuralink product would let people with paralysis control a smartphone."What is definitely new and innovative is that there are no cables coming through the skin, and the brain signals are all being sent wirelessly," said Jackson a neuroscience expert who is a professor at Newcastle University,. "This to me is the advance here, and is important both for improving the safety of human applications (wires through the skin are a potential route for infection) and also as a way of improving the welfare of animals used in neuroscience studies. The Neuralink team has definitely made progress in this regard."Stump: This seems like big news for other things like Heads up displays and augmented reality.Entertainment News - This next segment brought to you by Us! It's Sandy New Year! We continue a January tradition of viewing an Old Millennials-era Sandra Bullock movie. For 2021, we're putting on our best pageant gowns for "Miss Congeniality," the comedy where a dorky FBI agent must go undercover at a Miss America-style beauty pageant in order to stop a terrorist attack. Terrorists blowing up young women... apparently hilarious! Sandy Bullock is a good agent (or is she?), but because she wears her hair up and snorts when she laughs, none of the bros at the FBI respect her. The chief douchebag is played by Benjamin Bratt, who CAN'T. STOP. CHEWING. ON. FOOD. for the entire movie. Good grief, man, eat on your own time. We're watching a charming Sandy Bullock movie here! Michael Caine co-stars as a pageant guru, William Shatner and Candice Bergen play the pageant's head honchos, and a few other dummies run around the movie ogling the women. Look... Sandy Bullock looks hot all of a sudden! What a shocking turn of events! While both Old Millennnials hosts admire Sandy's charming lead performance, there's some debate about how "Miss Congeniality" goes about sidestepping all its ingrained and rampant misogyny. And HOW is Bratt set up to be the romantic lead here? Between all the sexist comments, dopey mugging and excessive, open-mouthed chewing, there's no way this guy deserves to date ANY GIRL at the end. At least Sandy beats the crap out of him as part of her self-defense presentation during the pageant's talent segment. The Old Millennials also talk pageants in general ("What's your idea of a perfect date?"), the episode of "Seinfeld" where Jerry dates a pageant contender and how Sandra Bullock just might be one of the best pratfall comedians ever. She trips and falls better than Steve Urkel! At the end of this episode, you'll want to HUUGGG US. You'll want to KIIIIIIISSSS US. You'll think we're GORRRRRGEOUS. It's the last piece of the pie! Franchise Guides takes American Pie to the next step and closes the series with this reunion that somehow feels the exact same as the previous instalments. Welcome back listeners! We are happy to report that this movie is shit. We barely had anything to say about it and if I'm honest putting any more effort into writing this description would be a excessive waste of time. The writers of the movie didn't put effort into crafting a story or writing jokes so I'm not going to either. American Reunion up next and I've never been more excited at the prospect of Sean William Scott being in a movie I'm going to watch. So that's where we are.
