Hump Day is here and we're once again digging out. Feels like we've gotten some snow almost every day for the last week. It was that heavy, wet stuff last night. Yuck. In the news this morning, an update on tonight's Powerball drawing, some new license plates in WI, a person in Door County was trying to use a flashlight for a headlight on their vehicle, and a social media ban for kids in Australia. Lots of stuff going on this morning! We let you know what's on TV today/tonight and we talked about how movie theaters can help increase attendance in the future. Plus, we made our Week 15 Pigskin Picks! Speaking of Week 15, we took a look at the NFC North schedule for this weekend's action. And also in sports, the Badger men's basketball team takes on undefeated Nebraska tonight, the Bucks are at home against the Celtics tomorrow night, Philip Rivers is officially on the Colts again, Trey Hendrickson had surgery earlier this week and is done for the season, Kyle Schwarber gets a deal from the Phillies and Edwin Diaz is moving to L.A. Talked about some "Soft Skills" that can help you get a job in the new year. And a list of common tropes in Christmas movies and how to avoid them. This time of year, it's important to remember that you should try to shovel out the fire hydrants in your neighborhood, like this 9 year-old in Iowa. And a NYC doorman is going viral for collecting toys & warm clothing for people in need during the holiday season. Elsewhere in sports, the White Sox scored the #1 overall pick in the upcoming MLB draft, the NHL players might skip the 2026 Olympics if they don't think the ice is safe enough, and the Notre Dame AD is getting called out by the Big 12 Commissioner. New term for people who aren't quite a full introvert or extrovert. We're supposed to call them "otroverts" now. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a guy in Oklahoma who tried to rob a liquor store with an interesting weapon, a 64 year-old man who's known for playing Santa Claus that just got busted for kiddie porn, a #FloridaWoman who got arrested for DUI and tried to hide a bunch of pills in her vagina, a deer that broke into a Christmas store & got stuck in a chair, and the results of GameStop's "Trade Anything Day".See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Is Tom Hanks too old to storm Omaha Beach?Host Paul Bavill welcomes Rob Hutton and Duncan Weldon, hosts of the War Movie Theatre podcast, to kick off a series of previews for the Imperial War Museum's (IWM) Podcast Live Festival. This week, they are raising the curtain on movies in a historical setting with a fierce debate on the one historical inaccuracy that Hollywood keeps getting away with.Rob and Duncan unleash their rage on the persistent and problematic trend in war cinema: the casting of much older actors as young combat soldiers in World War II movies. The Saving Private Ryan Problem: Discover exactly why Tom Hanks (mid-to-late 40s) as a Ranger Captain, and Matt Damon (27) as Private Ryan, were both fundamentally too old for their D-Day roles—in some cases by 20 years. The hosts argue that casting older actors fundamentally changes how we perceive the Second World War, overshadowing the reality that the fighting was overwhelmingly done by fresh-faced 19-year-olds.But is historical accuracy the real goal? The discussion turns to the industry's love for "whizzy ideas" and the notorious trope of a writer or director "struggling to get the green light"—and whether this pursuit of a marketable story is the real reason historical truth gets sacrificed for Hollywood blockbusters.Find out which TV series, like Band of Brothers, got the ages right, and whether Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk managed to break the mold.Plus, a fascinating discussion on how the youthful, risk-taking mindset applies not just to infantry and Luftwaffe pilots, but even to Formula 1 drivers.Don't miss this heated discussion!Listen to War Movie Theatre: Find Rob and Duncan's podcast everywhere you get your podcasts and follow on all social media channels @warmovietheatreSee them Live: This episode previews the IWM Podcast Live Festival on the 1st of November. Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino return to the podcast medium to break down USC's massive win over then No. 15 Michigan at home in the Coliseum, giving Lincoln Riley his first signature win in the Big Ten era. Shotgun spends his 'Two-Minute Drill' talking about the impressive performance by USC's offensive line, which continues to play well even without two season opening starters. Chris uses his time to talk about the electric atmosphere in the Coliseum and praise Trojan fans for their impact on the game. They then dive into Stock Up, Stock Down, which include the defensive front, Lincoln Riley, kicker Ryon Sayeri and more. The duo also discusses injuries to the running back room and the play of walk-on running back King Miller, who finished with 158 yards and a touchdown, and the dramatic second-half appearance from Bryan Jackson. USC's top running backs Waymond Jordan Jr. and Eli Sanders were both carted off the field in the first half with injuries, leaving USC with zero healthy scholarship tailbacks. Sanders will miss the rest of the season while Jordan Jr. will be out four-to-six weeks with ankle surgery. The Helium Boys dive into the second half of the show to preview USC's big road rivalry matchup with No. 13 Notre Dame. This could be the final game in the rivalry for the near future as the two teams do not have a deal to play in place beyond 2025. USC sent an amended offer late this summer toward a multi-year extension, which is more in line what the Fighting Irish wanted, but there has been no acceptance. You know how they say that Christmas never ends? First off, who said that? Seriously. Like, what were they thinking? Were they high? What does that even mean? Secondly, of course it ends. It immediately ends. For some, it ends before it begins! But for Film Fighters Kon 'n Jon... yea, it also ends - in fact, it's not even worth mentioning really.
