La Glándula Pineal Alrededor del año 1630, René Descartes escribió su famosa hipótesis sobre la glándula pineal, y la llamó el «asiento del alma». El padre del racionalismo dice: …«Este peculiar lugar de la residencia del alma, es el Conarium, o Glandula Pinealis, un cierto núcleo que semeja un cono de pino, ubicado entre los ventrículos del cerebro»… Y agrega que la razón por la cual, este es el asiento del alma es «porque esta parte del cerebro es singular y es sólo una». Añade el filósofo francés, que los más inteligentes no son los que tienen una glándula pineal más grande, sino una que está más en movimiento. En esta reflexión coincide, con la versión ocultista que sugiere que la glándula pineal, se activa por el movimiento. Que genera “una especie zumbido” a modo de energía, que está representada por la serpiente kundalini. Pese a que para algunos la idea de Descartes, parece tener una extraña claridad intuitiva, en su época y posteriormente, esta conjetura le ha significado el escarnio de sus colegas..
