It's a little weird that Garth prioritizing the Cup of CONCACAF Cup means we basically field S-2 on with Leo Chu (S-Chu) but it still sorta sucks that Sounders FC have been blanked in good ol MLS play - keep in mind, still no goals on the season. The transfer period has closed and the last week was anything but quiet. Manchester United finally got their newest Portuguese import in Bruno Fernandes. His ability to create scoring opportunities will be put to the test, while getting used to a more competitive league with a United squad lacking goals and still dealing with injuries in key positions. But while United got their white whale, Sheffield United broke their transfer record again to strengthen their squad in order to hold steady in the top 8. Newcastle brought in another highly player on loan and Everton let the world know they aren't a selling club, no matter who comes calling with $100 million. There are quite a few interesting nuggets as the Premier League heads into its first winter break. While the players head to Dubai for R and R, Pat, Mario and Devon take a look at what's in store for the Carabao Cup Final, the 5th round of the FA Cup and Liverpool's run at the invincibles in the league. It's transfer period for the MLS as well and a couple teams head to Europe for goal scorers who aren't on retirement tours. The USWNT run rampant in the CONCACAF Cup and MNT fringe player Antonee Robinson almost ends up with AC Milan. Messi gets messy on Instagram, we check up on Mature Ney, Jose claims another player's soul, Alfredo Morelos needs to leave Scotland and more on The Set Piece

Our 2nd Episode is in the books. We had some good discussion on the US vs Mexico game that took place for the CONCACAF Cup. I was in attendance along with 93,000 others and enjoyed the great atmosphere and an even greater Golazo by Paul Aguilar. We discuss the USMNT a bit more that you would originally think a Mexican
U.S. men's soccer teams endured a rough week, with the senior squad falling to Mexico in the CONCACAF Cup and U-23s failing to qualify automatically for the Olympics. The debacles provide plenty of fodder for the new Planet Fútbol Podcast, in which SI's Avi Creditor (twitter.com/acreditor), Grant Wahl (twitter.com/grantwahl) and Liviu Bird (twitter.com/liviubird) wrap up the performances and provide some perspective for a frustrating October international fixture window for American soccer. It's not all doom and gloom, though. North of the border, Toronto FC has secured its first playoff berth, and we pay tribute to the Reds (most notably the spectacular Sebastian Giovinco) and their drought coming to an end. We close with some EPL manager talk, with "The Special One," Jose Mourinho, under constant fire, while "The Normal One," Jurgen Klopp, gets set for his first match on the Liverpool sidelines. == -- ThePlanet Futbol Podcast is brought you by the SeatGeek app, available in app stores and at http://seatgeek.com. It seems like only yesterday we were filling the bowl for Orlando City's inaugural MLS match against fellow expansion side New York City FC. But now we're just a day away from the final home game of this first season in the league against...yep, NYCFC. We're excited about Friday but also sad to see the season coming to a close. We'll get over that sadness if the Lions can stay in the playoff race for at least one more week. With no Orlando City match to break down coming off the bye week, we instead shift gears and look back at the USMNT's disappointing 3-2 loss to Mexico in the CONCACAF Cup on Saturday. We discuss Jurgen Klinsmann and Brek Shea's involvement in the Costa Rica friendly. Plus, we look ahead to OCSC's expansion into the USL and NWSL. We should learn more about the USL team today. And we're joined by Rafa Noboa y Rivera, editor-in-chief over at Hudson River Blue. Raf tells us what's new with NYCFC, talks about their recent upswing, and previews what their lineup will look like. He also gives us his final score prediction for Friday. And we give you our key match-ups and score predictions as well. Here's how the show unfolded: 0:26- USMNT talk, what's up with Jurgen Klinsmann and a look at Orlando City's upcoming expansion into the USL and NWSL. 33:04- Raf jumps aboard and tells us what we can expect from the New York City FC match on Friday. 55:56- Our key match-ups for Friday's home finale for Orlando City and our final score predictions. That's it! We'll see you next week. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

First, midweek action at Red Bull Arena and BC Place as the Impact give themselves an uphill climb to the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs and the ‘Caps booked their place in the big dance. After that, the main event – for this week at least – the CONCACAF Cup. Andrew, David and Matt break down the storylines surrounding the game, not least the mounting pressure on Jurgen Klinsmann. In the second segment, Eric Gomez (FutbolTotal) and Jeff Carlisle (ESPN) join the guys to preview both sides. Gomez takes Mexico, who are weathering an especially bumpy road as coach familiar to MLS fans gets ready to take over the team. The US has issues of it’s own, including an illness to one presumed starter. Plus, will the US and Canada book a place in the Olympics? It’s peanut butter and jelly time in the mailbag, then a little East-West debate before calling it a day. Send your CONCACAF Cup thoughts via Twitter and email for a chance to win prizes!
We preview the CONCACAF Cup, reveal our top 10 Mexican players, and discuss who is performing well in Europe

It is Tuesday so it means another Filibuster to which you can listen! Adam, Jason, and Ben talk about D.C. United's 2-1 comeback win over New York City FC. We talk about the play of Chris Pontius, Alvaro Saborio coming off of the bench, Sean Franklin, the silliness that was the MLS team of the week (which featured no D.C. United players), and D.C. United giving up early goals. We then have to talk about this weekend's Concacaf Cup between the USMNT and Mexico. We talk about the team, the 3-5-2, Jurgen Klinsmann, and the roster that Jurgen decided to bring with him for this game. Finally, we talk about the state of the MLS playoff race, and how the Eastern Conference is basically already decided except for the seedings. Give it a listen!
So what do we know about MLS with three rounds left? Well, four teams are safely in the playoffs – the Red Bulls, D.C. United, LA Galaxy and FC Dallas – and that’s about it. With eight Audi MLS Cup Playoffs spots still up for grabs, Andrew, David and Matt take a closer look at the weekend that was: Why is Lil’ B a Toronto FC and Giovinco fan? What’s wrong with Crew SC’s backline? Why hasn’t Plan B worked in Portland? Why didn’t Kekuta pass? Is FC Dallas MLS’ best team? In the second segment, the guys are joined by Chipotle’s No. 1 customer Kellyn Acosta, who explains why he doesn’t eat burritos before games, picks his FCD 3v3 team and gives fans outside of the Lone Star State insight into the Texas Derby. Acosta has USMNT dreams, but he’s still years away from playing in a game like CONCACAF Cup. Jurgen Klinsmann named his roster on Saturday, and the guys take a shot at the lineup that’ll take the field at the Rose Bowl. No mailbag. Instead, an extra special interview with Matt and Brooklyn Banks, the Sounders FC supporters who got married at halftime of the Seattle-LA match on Sunday night.
Dick and Vic talk about the NWSL Championship, the US Open Cup Final, the upcoming CONCACAF Cup, the Quakes' playoff chances, and the latest out of the FIFA scandal.

verybody loves a little midweek action, and Andrew and David break it all down – from Frank Lampard’s first MLS goal to another missed opportunity for the Quakes – before New England’s Diego Fagundez joins to give MLS fans the lowdown on muddin’ with Lee Nguyen, the Revs late-summer runs and his decision to represent Uruguay. Plus, MLS clubs do the business in the CONCACAF Champions League. In the second segment, the guys take a closer look at what’s turning into a back-and-forth MLS Cup playoff race. Who can clinch this weekend? Whose hopes are slowly dwindling? Can Drogba and Co. knock off the first-place Revs? Can Sporting Kansas City pull out of their recent nosedive? Is the Wiebe curse for real? The mailbag starts with some CONCACAF Cup roster chatter (no Guardado? USMNT fans can hope), then rumors from around the Copa Centenario water cooler. Will it happen? Soccer fans in the US wait with baited breath. Plus, thoughts on LAFC’s name confirmation and Darlington Nagbe’s United States citizenship and what it could mean for the US national team.
Columbus Crew and Sierra Leone national forward Kei Kamara (twitter.com/keikamara) joins SI Senior Writer Grant Wahl (twitter.com/GrantWahl) and Brian Straus (twitter.com/BrianStraus) this week to talk his MLS-leading 20 goals, his experiences playing for his home country, and the differences between MLS and European leagues. The guys then switch gears and talk about the latest ridiculousness from CONCACAF: Forcing the U.S. and Mexico to name 35-man preliminary rosters a full month ahead of their showdown at the CONCACAF Cup in Los Angeles. Finally, they discuss the latest involving once of MLS' newest teams: LAFC, which officially confirmed its name and made it clear in an LA Times article that they plan to market heavily toward millennials. Plus, a domestic MLS sighting and a fact-finding trip to Malta.
