In this chilling and cinematic episode, we sit down with legendary screenwriter and director David Koepp—the mind behind iconic films like Jurassic Park, Spider-Man, and Panic Room—to talk about his foray into immersive audio storytelling with the Audible Original horror drama, Yard Work. Koepp shares the eerie inspiration behind the story, which follows a grieving widower and former surgeon—played by the one and only Kevin Bacon—as he confronts strange and increasingly malevolent overgrowth creeping into his remote property. We explore Koepp's transition from screen to sound, the unique constraints and creative freedoms of audio horror, and how he builds suspense using only the power of voice, sound design, and imagination.
In this message, Pastor Jarod uses the picture of yard work to show how cutting back, growing up, and walking in freedom requires effort—but it's worth the work. Based on 1 Thessalonians 5:23, we learn that God is the one who sanctifies us, but He can only sanctify what we surrender. Through four practical steps—Yielding, Alignment, Renewal, and Discipline—we discover how spiritual growth happens when we stay committed to the process. Sanctified doesn't mean perfect; it means committed. And just like yard work, transformation takes time, attention, and a willingness to keep it between the lines. ____ Partner with New Tribe: Give | https://newtribe.church/give/ ____ Connect with New Tribe: Website | https://newtribe.church/comeexperience/ Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/newtribechurch Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/newtribechurch YouTube | https://www.youtube.com/newtribechurch

Bass and Brews Podcast — This week, we're joined by Steve from Slab Dynasty, and things get real (and reel)! Steve opens up about his time away from bass fishing, his switch to the world of trout fishing, and how juggling family life can make getting out on the water a little trickier. But don't worry — it's not all sentimental. Expect plenty of laughs, questionable fishing advice, and the usual nonsense you've come to love. So grab a brew, kick back, and let's talk fishin' (or the lack of it).

Episode 2909: Swing an axe, haul heavy loads, or power through burpees, Leo Babauta redefines fitness with creative, functional workouts that ditch the gym. Whether it's yardwork that builds real-world strength, prisoner-style bodyweight routines, or unconventional tools like kettlebells and sandbags, these minimalist workouts prove you don't need fancy equipment to stay fit. If your routine feels stale, this fresh take on movement will inspire you to turn everyday tasks into powerful training sessions. Quotes to ponder: "Axe to chop wood or a sledgehammer to drive in stakes or crush things or a brush-cutter to, well, cut down brush. This is a great workout because you're swinging something heavy and using your entire body to do it." "The benefits of functional training is that not only do you get stronger, but you do so in a way that will be useful in other life activities, such as work or sports." "Burpees. Do 20, rest, then do 19, rest, then do 18, rest, and so on, all the way down to 1 burpee. This alone is super tough." In this lesson, we explore essential English vocabulary related to gardening and yard work, covering tools, tasks, and outdoor spaces. The lesson starts with an explanation of what a yard is—both as a unit of measurement and as a space around a home, such as the front yard and backyard. The teacher shares personal experiences with yard maintenance, offering practical examples of how these words are used in daily life. You'll learn about common tools like shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, pruning shears, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers, as well as the parts of a yard such as lawns, flower beds, shrubs, mulch, and greenhouses. Through stories about seasonal yard work in North Carolina, listeners gain insight into the changing responsibilities that come with spring, summer, fall, and winter. Tasks like digging, planting, weeding, mowing, pruning, and shoveling are introduced in context, making it easier to understand and remember their meaning. We also share gardening challenges like bears visiting local orchards. Key words and expressions like "to have a green thumb" (being good at gardening) and "to prune" (cut unwanted branches) are explained in detail. With bonsai repotting season well under way the pot or container you use for your bonsai is a serious consideration and I have some thoughts on sizing and design of the pot. And when you repot, in order to avoid damage or wasting the tree's resources, you really should securely fasten your bonsai to the pot. There are repercussions if done incorrectly and I run through my method and what I use. We are exactly mid way through winter and while we are busy you cannot take your eye off the ball.
