Orlando City now knows its opponent for the Eastern Conference semifinals. The Lions will welcome the Columbus Crew into the purple palace in Parramore on Saturday, Nov. 25 for a 5:30 p.m. match. The series this year has been extremely competitive, with Orlando going 1-0-1 in the two regular-season meetings but needing to rally from two goals down both times to secure a result. We look at how these teams got to this point, dive into some of the key players for Columbus, and discuss the offensive prowess the Crew have shown in 2023. These were two of the best teams in the conference all season and now they'll go toe-to-toe with a berth in the conference final on the line. It should be a great match. We also looked at the various Orlando City players who will be with their national teams during the current international break. Without a midweek game (thank goodness!), we decided to take a look at the transfer window from Orlando City's perspective. Although we don't expect an active transfer window for the Lions, we did think it was worthwhile to look at the spots on the roster where a move might be helpful to the team. We had one common train of thought and expanded in some different decisions as well. Orlando City's development academy has a new director and we talked a bit about Javier Carrillo and the task he has in continuing OCSC's rise in the academy ranks, where the U-15 and U-17 teams routinely are getting good results in major tournaments. In today's episode, Christine talks with Rebbeca Johnson and Heather Richard, shares their passion and experience of sailing and how they got to be where they are today. They share about working with the Call of the Sea, which is an educational non-profit that connects people to the sea and maritime traditions. They aim to increase coastal access and empower people of all backgrounds through experiential and environmental education on the water.Rebecca started sailing on tall ships as a volunteer on the Barque Elissa while going to college at Texas Maritime Academy.  After graduating, she spent three years sailing on the schooner Mary Day out of Camden, Maine.  In 2016 she began sailing as a mate on the Sailing School Vessels Corwith Cramer and Robert C Seamans.  In 2020 Rebecca started working as chief mate on the newly certified vessel Matthew Turner and had the exciting task of figuring out how to sail a brand new vessel with a hybrid propulsion system and creating many of the procedures that are now used to operate it. Rebecca began sailing as Captain on Matthew Turner in 2021.Heather Richard is a US Coast Guard licensed (100-ton) captain for hire on San Francisco Bay. Heather has been sailing since the age of 4. She raced competitively on the Boston University sailing team while earning a BFA in sculpture, and worked on charter boats and in community boating programs in Boston. She also worked for the US Navy in Japan, Sail Carribean Voyages, OCSC, Modern Sailing School, Tall Ship Matthew Turner, and the Saint Francis Yacht Club, coaching young sailors.She currently lives aboard with her three children in a maritime co-op. MLS Apple Tv analyst Taylor Twellman joined today's show to discuss MLS scheduling, his relationship with OCSC fans, the win vs Inter Miami, but ultimately what has held them back.

Orlando City went back on the road for a tussle with its neighbors to the south in the latest installment of the Tropic Thunder rivalry. The Lions struck first and last in a good overall performance against Inter Miami and claimed all three points in Fort Lauderdale for just the second time in five visits. Ercan Kara continued to pour in goal contributions with one strike and one assist. Not to be outdone, new Designated Player Martin Ojeda did the same. We're breaking down an enjoyable match in which things clicked on both ends of the pitch for Orlando City, and Oscar Pareja pulled all the right strings. We also made our selections for Man of the Match. Following our match rewind, we welcome The Mane Land Platinum Founder Samuel Atkinson to the program. Welcome to the first week of a new era for The Mane Land PawedCast, as we pivot to a twice-a-week system, and drop the Orlando Pride from this show. Our coverage of the NWSL side is being repackaged as its own dedicated podcast, which kicks off this week. It was absolutely the wrong week to switch formats when you consider that Orlando City didn't play this week and neither did the Pride, however, that was also the appeal of doing it this week. There were (and are) bound to be hiccups and so it's better to have those when there's less content. The idea of the switch of this show is simple: our show is rather long for a weekly soccer podcast and it's hard for listeners to find enough time to listen to them all the way through in one sitting. We can bring you more detail and still give listeners a more digestible show if we switch to two episodes per week. This is the first of the two you'll get this week. Since Orlando City was off, we opened the show with some information about our move from SBNation to our own independent site (we hope you like it), the launch of SkoPurp Soccer: An Orlando Pride PawedCast later this week, and the format change for this show. We also touched on some international news that affects one of the more prominent Lions, Facundo Torres. After a win at Philadelphia, Orlando City's homecoming wasn't a fun one Saturday, but if one looks beyond the scoreline of the Lions' 2-0 loss to Nashville SC, the performance didn't match the result. The Lions — for the most part, anyway — controlled the match, generated the most chances, and honestly should have scored a couple of goals. They didn't. Instead, they got caught twice by the visitors, who created only a few chances, but converted on two of them, and the first was a gift. We break down a frustrating home loss but we also aren't ready to call for anyone's head just yet, and we explain why. We also select our Man of the Match picks and look forward to Orlando getting healthy and rested for a meeting on April 15 with Minnesota United on the road. We don't normally talk about OCB second, but the Young Lions are the club's only undefeated professional side after a 2-1 win over Huntsville City in the club's home opener. Alex Freeman scored both goals for OCB and the team was albe to withstand a lot of pressure against the visitors to improve to 2-0-0. Speaking of Freeman, he joined us as this week's guest and we asked him about his experiences in camp, what Oscar Pareja has told him he needs to do better to get first-team minutes, how he adjusts to playing for OCB and then quickly changing gears for international play, and much more. The Pride dropped a heartbreaker in their home opener but man, did they ever create some scoring chances against Angel City. Ally Watt had a rough match in front of goal but better days lie ahead if Seb Hines can get that kind of performance out of his team each week. We also discussed NWSL expansion and the Pride's recent signing of three young additions to the team. The OCSC academy teams won their groups at the Generation Adidas tournament and will be in action today as a result. It's always nice to see the kids doing well against difficult competition.
