The COP26 UN climate negotiations are well underway in Glasgow, Scotland. With that in mind, we wanted to rerun an episode we did a few years back with Dr. Katharine Hayhoe about how to understand and listen to each other when it comes to climate change. Dr. Hayhoe is an expert climate scientist and communicator. She is currently the Chief Scientist for The Nature Conservancy and is also a Distinguished Professor of Political Science and Public Law in the Department of Political Science at Texas Tech University. Dr. Hayhoe has precious insights into how we effectively shift public opinion on the side of climate science, especially among members of her own evangelical Christian religion. Over the course of the conversation, she and Host Jason Bordoff discuss how she merges her faith and her scientific work to communicate the urgency of addressing climate change in an ever-polarized political landscape.

Environmental groups says it is pointless and cynical for the government to sign up to a global pact to drastically slash methane emissions when it has no plans to match the goal itself. More than 100 countries have agreed to cut global methane emissions by a third by 2030. RNZ's climate reporter Hamish Cardwell is covering the COP26 UN climate summit and filed this report.
The COP26 UN climate conference has kicked off in Glasgow, Scotland amidst a flurry of important moments in climate-related current affairs—an energy crisis threatens global supply chains and the future of a reconciliation package in Congress could determine whether or not the U.S. will meet its climate targets. Needless to say, it's a big week for the climate. Manish is the new President and CEO of the Natural Resources Defense Council and the NRDC Action Fund. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 15-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East, and the Jewish world, from Sunday through Thursday. Today's podcast guests are political correspondent Tal Schneider and health and science writer Nathan Jeffay, hosted by Jessica Steinberg. Schneider calls in from the opening of Glasgow summit, where she, diplomatic correspondent Lazar Berman and environmental reporter Sue Surkes will be reporting for the next 48 hours. While the topics at the conference are climate change, politics will also be under discussion with more than 120 world leaders present, including Israel's prime minister Naftali Bennett, who will use the opportunity to meet and greet his colleagues, said Schneider. Jeffay discusses the welcome news of Israel opening its borders for the first time since March 2020 to tourists who are vaccinated against COVID-19 or have recovered from the disease. That does exclude most children and the regulations are very specific with regard to only those vaccinated within the last six months, but it is a start, according to Jeffay. Jeffay also speaks about ambitious Israeli research expected to lead to better diagnosis and treatment for autism, a project based out of Beersheba. Discussed articles include: Bennett says Israel to set up fund to encourage investment in green technology For first time in 20 months, Israel welcomes back tourists With massive donation, Israel autism center aims to ‘impact policy worldwide' Subscribe to The Times of Israel Daily Briefing on iTunes, Spotify, PlayerFM, Google Play, or wherever you get your podcasts.
