Welcome to a brand-new episode of 'The Psalms of My Emotions' podcast where we tap into the depths of our spiritual life. The host, Ralinda, invites us to a session of deep origination concerning how we present and perceive ourselves in the context of our faith. We discuss the importance of showcasing the right set of values (or fruits), making an impact on people's perception of us, and ultimately, our relationship with God. Although initially intended as a 'Thought of the Day', Ralinda takes a deep dive into the metaphor of fruits and their spiritual significance, citing passages from James 3:13 and Matthew 7:15-20 to guide the discourse. The theme of the episode, 'Your Fruits Are Showing!', beautifully encapsulates the essence of the talk, underlining how the traits, or 'fruits', we exhibit determine the categories people put us in. Throughout the episode, Ralinda ties the contemporary culture of job interviews and first impressions to spiritual discussions, setting a relatable stage for listeners. The insights shared encourage us to reflect on our own behavior as well. Are we manifesting qualities of kindness, peace, and love, or are we guilty of displaying impatience, rudeness, and negativity? Let this podcast serve as a reminder that our spiritual journey does not stop at just believing in Christ, but in embodying and showcasing the right fruits alongside. Tune in and join Ralinda on this quest of spiritual awakening and alignment. Walmart stands by CRT training as 'thought provoking' and 'instructive'A civil rights leader compared the training to blackfaceWalmart has stood by a diversity training that claims that White people have "internal racist conditioning," that Americans today are inheriting a racist legacy, and that ideas such as perfectionism, worship of the written word, individualism, and objectivity are aspects of "White supremacy culture" that "promote White supremacy thinking."A civil rights veteran and a shareholder responded to the training with alarm, condemning it as "racist propaganda" and an insult comparable to the worst blackface act.Yet Walmart stood by the training in a statement to FOX Business."Walmart began offering the Racial Equity Institute (REI) training sessions in 2018 for corporate leaders to share analysis and encourage reflection on the history of race in America as well as systemic racial inequity in its institutional and structural forms," Melissa Hill, a Walmart spokeswoman, told FOX Business. "While the company does not agree with all of the views that were presented, we have found these sessions to be thought-provoking and constructive."Hill referenced Christopher Rufo, a senior fellow at The Manhattan Institute, who published the training materials and wrote about them at The City Journal. "Contrary to the assertions in the City Journal article, the program was designed for corporate officers and salaried managers, not frontline hourly associates," she told FOX Business. She acknowledged that Rufo's materials are an accurate representation of the training, but she also claimed that his article misrepresented their "overall tone.""While the City Journal quotes excerpts from individual pages of the curriculum, the selected language doesn't reflect the overall tone of the conversations," Hill insisted. She said the training "was developed in a way that aligns with our core value of respect for the individual."The training materials Rufo published claim that citizens of the United States take part in a legacy of racial inequity."If you are a citizen of the United States, part of the legacy you have inherited is the historical, systematic, and pervasive way in which white race and the benefits, privilege, and power for those who came to be known as white have been constructed in this country," the materials claim. The materials claim that in order for "oppression" to succeed, "we must collude or cooperate." White people "cooperate" by following their "internal racist conditioning," which leads them to say, "I'm not racist, I'm a good White person."One passage lists "characteristics" of "White supremacy culture," including "perfectionism," "worship of the written word," "individualism," and "objectivity." Among the problems with "objectivity," the document lists "the idea that there is such a thing as being objective or ‘neutral,'" and "requiring people to think in a linear (logical) fashion."Civil rights veteran Bob Woodson, founder, and president of The Woodson Center condemned the training in an interview with FOX Business. "It is the most insulting proposition that I ever heard," Woodson said of the suggestion that objectivity is an aspect of White supremacy culture. He noted that in vaudeville shows, "Whites used to caricature Blacks by putting on blackface and acting as if they are dimwitted, slow, irresponsible, all of the things that the progressives today say are the opposite of ‘acting White.'" He said the training encouraged insulting "stereotypes of what it means to be Black."Woodson also mused about what Walmart stores would look like if they actually implemented a policy avoiding "White supremacy culture.""If a customer asked for a cart, the employee would say, ‘If you had been here earlier, you would have gotten one.' Because it's White to be efficient and bring the carts back in," he explained. "Since being punctual is also White, half the employees would show up late and there'd be long lines in the checkout.""What would happen to sales receipts if prices were not accurately marked?" Woodson asked, noting that correct prices are "a function of perfectionism.""I don't know how a black person could hold their head up and sit through someone saying this about them," Woodson added. "It is the height of insulting and if people do not express outrage at this insulting, demeaning, patronizing, approach of Walmart, then there's something sick about them."Justin Danhof, a Walmart shareholder through the National Center for Public Policy Research, also condemned the training."As a Walmart shareholder, I really want to know how much money the company is spending to indoctrinate its employees with this racist propaganda," Danhof told FOX Business. "I also want to know if Walmart staffers were given an opportunity to object to this madness without fear of reprisal.""Telling company managers - in a mandatory training - that they are guilty of ‘white supremacy thinking' is beyond insane," Danhof added. "But that's the exact state of play with corporate America as more and more companies adopt racist and Marxist training programs." The trade in the enslaved was banned in 1807, the enslaved were 'emancipated' in 1833.

If you work out regularly there is a fair chance that you've been injured at some stage. Call it an occupational hazard for athletes. Injuries are physical, the pain is real, and the effects of the injury are often visible. But recovery from injury isn’t just a physical act. One might even argue that there is a mental health aspect to getting injured. I know that from many of my most serious injuries I've felt a sense of loss at not being able to train and even grief if it meant having to withdraw from events. That's why I’m delighted to be speaking with today's guest Dr. David Meyer.  Dr. Meyer is a Sports Performance Physical Therapist who served as the Rehab & Medical Coordinator for the St. Louis Cardinals in Major League Baseball, where he began discovering a new approach to sports rehabilitation that utilizes psychology, along with mental skills and strategies. This inspired David to author his recently published book, Injured to Elite: A Guide to Empowering Yourself to Transform Your Life After Injury. Alongside his book Injured to Elite, he hosts a podcast of the same name. David has now fostered a community, The Injured to Elite Network, made up of developing sports professionals and athletes that mainly identify with being an underdog, in order to change the paradigm of sports performance and healthcare towards growth outside of just the physical domain. If you want to use all of the tools at your disposal when you get injured you’ll love this conversation as we chat about: Why injury is emotional as well as physical 'Thought virus’ and 'thought vaccines' and why you need to replace one with the other Having a growth mindset and being an open-minded skeptic Experimental curiosity Self-determination theory and its role in injury rehab 5 steps to having a positive mindset during injury rehab David would like to offer all High Performance Human podcast listeners the opportunity to listen to the first 1/3 of his book absolutely FREE OF CHARGE, just click here - injuredtoelite.com/listen.   You can purchase the full book HERE.   You can follow Dr. David Meyer at the usual social media channels as well as his own website. I know the history of the Fer De Lance snake - some people are dead in five minutes, some it might take four or five hours."By the time he got to a hospital, his left leg had swollen to at least double the size of his right after the viper sank its fangs into his lower calf.Bethune says there are ongoing issues, which include a bladder problem and muscle issue on his calf. However medical professionals expect both to clear up soon.

This is a story about an incident that happened to 22-year-old freelance web developer Jacky Alciné, the racist slur that caught him off-guard, and the machines behind it. You may have heard about it earlier this summer: On Sunday, June 28, Jacky sat relaxing, half-watching the BET awards and messing around on his computer. It was just a normal evening, until a selfie from his friend popped up in the Google photo app. As Jacky scrolled through his photos, he realized that Google has rolled out “photo categorization" – his pictures had automatically been labelled and organized based on what was in them. His brother's graduation? No problem, Google's software totally figured it out. But as he kept scrolling, he came upon a series of photos of himself and a friend at a concert.   But the label didn't say “people” or "concert." The label Jacky saw on all of the pictures he had taken with this particular friend. (Jacky Alciné/Twitter) "It says 'gorilla,' and I'm like 'nah,'" Jacky says. "[It's] a term that's been used historically to describe black people in general. Like, 'Oh, you look like an ape,' or 'you've been classified as a creature,'" Jacky said. "[B]ecause the closer they looked to a chimp... the more black, the more pure the blackness was supposed to be, so they were probably better for cropping, going back to the days of slavery and cattle selling... [and] of all terms, of all derogatory terms to use, that one came up." He tweeted at the company and they resolved it within 14 hours.  @jackyalcine Can we have your permission to examine the data in your account in order to figure out how this happened? — Yonatan Zunger (@yonatanzunger) June 29, 2015 But this isn't the only example of a machine making a problematically human mistake. Flickr has been fielding complaints for auto-tagging people in photos as "animals," and concentration camps as "jungle gyms." According to computer scientist Yoshua Bengio, these stories are just going to keep making headlines. Because to prevent a machine from drawing a offensive conclusion? You have to teach a machine how complex society is – and it just may be impossible to code around all of the deeply human social pitfalls. As he tells Manoush Zomorodi on this week's Note to Self: Yoshua Bengio: "We would have to have people tell the machine why it makes specific mistakes," Bengio said. "But you would need not just like two or three examples, you would need thousands or millions of examples for the machine to catch all of the different types of errors that we think exists." Manoush Zomorodi: So should companies like Google be even using deep learning like this if there is the possibility that these really offensive mistakes can happen? Bengio: Well, that's a choice that they have to make. The system can make mistakes and you have to deal with the fact that there will be mistakes. Google Photo uses a type of artificial intelligence called "machine learning." Scientists give the machine millions of examples and teach it to start recognizing objects or words. Then, through an even more specific approach called "deep learning," it trains machines to start seeing patterns in the data, to draw their own conclusions, and to, in a way, think for itself. This enables them to process huge reams of previously unmanageable data. In many ways, it's one of the most exciting advances in Artificial Intelligence to date. On this week's show, however, we're taking a closer look at how AI could get it so wrong in practice, and why mistakes like this one matter for big tech companies and those of us who use their products.
