It's Steve Cully and UConn Legendary QB Shane Stafford back for an all-new Festivus Of Sports Show. We start with the dumpster fire of our NY Knicks. Star Guard Jaylen Brunson was asked after the final loss to Indiana in the Eastern Conference Finals if he was concerned about Coach Tom Thibodeau's job status and replied with a smug remark before saying NO. Shockingly. Thibodeau was fired after being the best coach of the Knicks this century, leading them to 3 straight playoff series wins over the last 3 years, along with having them in the Conference Finals for the first time since 2000. Shane and I discuss the comments Deion Sanders made about Shadeur falling to the 5th round of the draft, while Safety Shilo was signed as a rookie free agent to Tampa Bay. We both believe his stats were inflated because of an offense that didn't attempt to run the football. The stories about him being unprepared on NFL visits, Deion said, were far from the truth and escalated by the media. I bring up how we see many Quarterbacks flame out from the NFL and never receive another opportunity. I talk about Moneyline Co-Host Frank Cristiano believing a developmental league is needed and should run concurrently with the NFL season. Each team will have a roster of players in shape, games are played Tuesday and Wednesday nights. A better scenario than a practice squad or guy being signed off the couch near the end of seasons. Shane thinks injuries could occur to these developmental teams and when a franchise needs someone, they won't be available.

Filling in on short notice a young man with a bright future, @owenth12 with his mother, a great friend, who can handle herself on any podcast, the beautiful Erika Higgins. We talk about the busy life of Owen, as he finishes up his junior year. Owen has worked hard and developed into a prospect for kicking, plus he also punts. He visited several schools and was at a kicking camp last weekend. His career long is from 42 yards, but he recently nailed 2 out of 3 from 52 yards. With excellent academics, Owen will be a very desirable recruit. Owen had some good insight on why Shedeur Sanders falling into the 5th round. He thought Sanders was overrated and was far from a Day 1 pick. Being a Patriots fan, I was surprised to hear he is not high on Drake Maye at QB. However, I did agree with him that New England gave up on Mac Jones too soon.Erika talked about her Tampa Bay Fandom and did not appreciate be called out for only being a fan because Brady signed there. She threatened to pull out the creamsicle starter jacket from 1991. Thankfully we put an end to that.Owen did a nice job on his first podcast. His extensive knowledge of football truly stood out. His analysis and breakdowns made sense, they weren't regurgitated. Erika and husband Pete are wonderful parents. A lot of fun having them on and we will meet again!

Coach Josh Heupel took a stand and dismissed Nico to a rousing applause from TENNESSEE FANS (Grupo Oficial). Now that is a leader! Coach Heupel received praise from coaches and fans around the country for putting the team first and not allowing Nico to hold them hostage!We talk about former Georgia Football QB Jayden Rashada is on the move again. He left Florida after an NIL dispute and went to Arizona State. Then transferred again to Georgia last year and now is leaving there.College Football is broken, and NCAA Football should be embarrassed. Charlie Baker, as commissioner, is completely impotent. Yes, the players deserve to be paid; the NCAA has made billions off these kids for years. Instead of doing his actual job, putting together a plan to regulate how to pay players or restrict the transfer portal. This Ozempic, worthless, joke of a leader is ruining college sports. The NCAA tournament was blah overall. Football is fun to watch, but there is no loyalty, and Charlie lets it all happen. He loses in court and is the worst figurehead in sports.

In May of 2023, a man named Daniel Penny boarded a subway car in New York City. During transit, a man named Jordan Neely began to threaten Penny and the other passengers on the car. Expressing a desire to defend himself and others, Penny, an ex-Marine, put Neely in a chokehold until the train arrived at the next station. Shortly after the incident ended, Neely unfortunately died.  New York has brought a criminal case against Daniel Penny. The highly publicized trial concluded yesterday in Manhattan, with the jury delivering a verdict of “Not Guilty”. Because of the immediate nature of the event, we've decided to bring Heritage Explains to you a bit early this week. I sat down with Cully Stimson, Senior Legal Fellow here at the Heritage Foundation, to discuss the case. In 2022, Portland residents voted to drastically change the city’s form of government. That includes using ranked choice voting to expand the city council from five seats to 12. Another change is the creation of four geographic districts, with voters in each district electing three candidates to represent them on the new council. District 2 covers most of North and Northeast Portland, including neighborhoods such as Irvington, St. John’s, Kenton and Cully. On Oct. 17, “Think Out Loud” convened a District 2 candidates forum at Oakshire Beer Hall. Candidates were invited to participate based on the number of individual donors that contributed to their campaign. An ombudsman investigation in Portland found evidence of predatory towing at a group of apartment complexes in the Cully neighborhood. The report says towing practices financially and emotionally harmed residents, most of whom identify as low-income and Latino. It also found that the influx of towing impacted clients and staff at a nearby county-run health clinic and community center. Tony Green is a deputy ombudsman for the city of Portland. He conducted the investigation and joins us with more details.
