The goriest movie of all time is under review in this weeks episode. Another horror comedy that deals with a zombie rat monkey, baby, priest, nurse, and what the hell is that thing? Who knows but we might as well chop it up and spray as much blood all over the place as we can. Released in 1992, we get an early film directed by Peter Jackson, who wrote along side Stephen Sinclair and Fran Walsh. Starring Timothy Balme, Diana Penalver, Elizabeth Moody, and Ian Watkin. This week we explored the early beginnings of cinema legend Peter Jackson with one of his first films - DEAD ALIVE. Is it a horror comedy that everyone loves? Do we ever reconcile that this is the same Peter Jackson that almost immediately after went on to begin production on Lord of the Rings? Billed as "The Bloodiest Movie of All Time"! A young man's mother is bitten by a Sumatran rat-monkey. She gets sick and dies, at which time she comes back to life, killing and eating dogs, nurses, friends, and neighbors.
We are re-joined by Jo to discuss Peter Jackson's 1992 (1993 in the U.S.) tour-de-force gore-fest, Dead Alive. This movie is hard to find (unless you shop on eBay, are willing to take it from YouTube, or you're a pirate), but it is available if you do the work. If you haven't seen it, most of us think you're missing out. This film has both past horror references and is referenced by many as well. We have a mother who smothers her son, zombies, stop-motion animation, violence, gore, gag-inspiring moments, and so much more. If you love blood, gore, fun and interesting characters, and gross-out moments, this film is for you. We hope you enjoy the show! Six eyes in one big, dark room. What exactly are they watching? Horror films of course! Horror films often get a bad wrap in the industry. We set out to answer a simple question: Are horror movies the bastard child of hollywood films? We set out to disprove (or in some cases, prove) that thought. Who are “we”? Chewie (co-host of “Stuff&Things” and “Four Color Commentary”) is a blood-chugging, plague-ridden creature that just won't die. Evan is the fabled beast from the darkest recesses of a serial killer's mind. James is a mad scientist better known as “Dr. Jurassic Price” whom is always one step ahead. In other words: we are three guys that really, really like horror films and love to talk about them. Whatever the case, together we are the Unholy Trinity! Our motto is simple: Death By Celluloid
