Singer/songwriter D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, is accused of killing a 14-year-old girl he'd allegedly been sexually abusing for years in order to keep her quiet about their relationship. Gerade Subkulturen und Avantgardebewegungen spiegeln diese Ambivalenz. In Jugoslawien waren die 80er Jahre geprägt von Freiheitsversprechen und (kreativem) Aufschwung, aber auch die Zeit aufkommenden Nationalismus. Von Widersprüchen geprägt, war es das letzte Jahrzehnt, in dem das Land eine Einheit war - und Jugoslawischer NewWave Ausdruck dessen: 'die letzte Jugend' - und kein Projekt eignet sich zur Illustration besser als die Belgrader Band IDOLI - war urban, individualistisch, rebellisch und geradezu obsessiv in ihrer Identifikation mit der Kulturszene westlicher Metropolen. Sie trat an gegen den sozialistischen Kollektivismus, flirtete dabei mit nationalistischer, rückgewandter Bildsprache, griff Avantgarde-Traditionen auf, auch solche, die ihrerseits mit Totalitarismus geliebäugelt hatten, war dabei aber ungemein vielschichtig, vieldeutig, verspielt und intelligent, ihr Album ein Meilenstein von TapeArt&CutUp. Kann Popmusik ein Warnsignal, ein Seismograph folgender Desillusionierung und gewalttätigen Zerfalls sein? Auch das multidisziplinäre Künstlerkollektiv NSRD aus Riga war stark von postmoderner Theorie beeinflusst, dazu von neuer Musik und Dada, später u.a. von Fluxus und Kybernetik mit einem ausgeprägten DiY-Ethos, der nicht nur den restriktiven Bedingungen in der Sozialistischen Sowietrepublik geschuldet war. Wenn gute lettische Tanzmusik rar war, machte man sie halt selbst. Alle Grauzonen, die Musik & Kunst betrafen, wurden von NSRD voller Begeisterung ausgelotet. "Wir identifizieren uns mit Grenzen. In this episode of Spirit Box, I spoke with Vic Hyland, musician, teacher, and author, about creativity, NLP, and music's connection to magic. We delve into Vic's book 'Music Magic and NLP' wherein Vic shared his insights into the "cut-up" technique—a method popularised by David Bowie and William S. Burroughs—that involves rearranging words and phrases to unlock creative flow. This approach, Vic explains, extends beyond music and can spark ideas in all kinds of fields by tapping into the subconscious and reshaping our perceptions. We also discussed "sliding door moments," those pivotal life junctures where a single event can change everything, often guided by a mix of art, intention, and subconscious forces. Vic shared examples from music, showing how songs and symbols sometimes act as "hyper sigils"—shaping reality in unexpected ways. This led us to explore creativity's link to manifestation and consciousness. While I'm somewhat skeptical about manifesting through thoughts alone, Vic and I agreed on the importance of engaging the subconscious meaningfully. He emphasized that true creativity requires shifting between “gears” of consciousness, balancing conscious effort with subconscious flow. In the Plus show, we delved into the deeper purpose of creativity, beyond entertainment or self-expression. For both of us, art, music, and storytelling aren't just about creating; they're about transforming consciousness, connecting people, and deepening our understanding of the world. Vic illustrated this beautifully, noting that creativity was once about gathering together, changing perspectives, and tapping into something magical that logic alone can't touch. Separatists led by Admiral Trench battle Republic forces led by Anakin and Mace Windu for the Republic shipyards on Anaxes. Rex has an idea of why things are going badly: analytics; the droids know Rex's strategies too well. They plan to take a small squad to the enemy Cyber Center, where intel is processed, to see if they can figure out what's happening. Before leaving, Rex and Cody chat about losing Fives, Echo, and Hevy during the war, which makes me feel bad for Droidbait and Cutup. Rex thinks Echo is alive, because their battle plans are old ones he and Echo drew up, and also because he has to remind us that Echo died several seasons ago.Rex and Cody leave to meet up with their squad for the mission: Clone Force 99, AKA The Bad Batch! Hunter, the leader! Tech, the smart one! Crosshair, the sharpshooter! Wrecker, the big one! These guys seem cool enough to have their own show. They join up with Rex, Cody, and 501st clones Kix and Jesse to find what the Separatists are using to outwit the Republic. Their gunship is shot down, and with a large number of droids incoming, the Bad Batch goes to work showing off their cool skills, which involve Wrecker lifting things, Hunter stabbing things, and Tech saying numbers while Crosshair shoots.The team infiltrates the Cyber Center, break into the computers and discover that the algorithm they've been looking for is a live signal from the planet Skako Minor. When they try to find out who is sending the signal, they get the answer 'CT-1409'. As the clones escape from the facility, Rex reveals that CT-1409 is Echo. Rex is trying to get support for Echo's rescue mission and Anakin suggests highlighting the goal of finding out how the Separatists are predicting their strategy. Did Anakin sexually contract politics from Padme? Then Anakin changes subjects and says that he and Rex need to do that ‘thing'. Rex excuses himself and follows Anakin.Rex watches the door while Anakin Space Times Padme who is positively glowing. Anakin and Padme have an actual conversation and look like they genuinely regret being apart. I think those two kids are going to make it. Anakin is worried about Rex being too attached to personal attachments, Padme suggests that Anakin has made the same mistakes once or twice and Anakin actually cops to it.Obi-Wan rolls up on Rex and makes him sweat trying to find excuses for Anakin's chatting with his wife. Obi-Wan lets him them the hook and says that he hopes Anakin told Padme he says hello. Anakin hasn't grown too much because he looks pissed rather than embarrassed. Is Star Wars allowed to do ‘show don't tell', because that was a great scene. While on their way to Skako Minor Wrecker is working out with a G0NK droid. We told you Dave Filoni was a fan of this podcast. The clones land and are accosted by the aliens from Crystal Skull riding small dragons. Anakin is snatched and taken to their village. Anakin is rescued and it turns out the locals don't want the war to come to their planet.Meanwhile Admiral Trench calls Wat Tambor to tell him the clones are on their way. Wat thinks that the Techno Union has corporate neutrality, but Trench suggests that a black-ops squad might not have a JAG officer to advise them on rules of engagement here. The clones infiltrate the Techno Union base, Wrecker goes absolutely nuts on some droids, suggesting that some Gronkowski DNA might have been involved in his personal mutation. That party cruise is wild. We're going to be upfront with you. Last week was a hard one at WBUR. On Wednesday it was announced that the station would be cutting up to 14% of its staff through buyouts and layoffs in an attempt to reduce the station's expenses by $4 million. This comes after a significant drop in underwriting revenue in recent years, adding to the trend of personnel cuts at public radio stations across the country in recent months. WBUR Investigative Correspondent Todd Wallack has been covering WBUR's financial struggles. He joins The Common to discuss what is behind the cuts, and what lies ahead for the station.
