Dorothy Scott was enjoying a night out with co-workers when she noticed one of her co-workers did not look well and had a red mark on his arm. Dorothy and another one of her co-workers, Pam Head, decided to take him to the emergency room where they found out he had been bitten by a spider. Dorothy and Pam sat in the waiting room for their friend to be released. After being released Dorothy left them to go get her car in order to pick them up but when she hadn't returned after a couple of minutes her co-workers started to get worried. Minutes later her car comes flying through the parking lot leaving them behind and that was the last time they ever saw her. Armin Meiwes was abandoned by his father at a young age turning him into a lonely child just wanting his family to be together again. By the age of 12 Armin began to develop a certain desire most people don't have the desire for but after putting up an ad people reached out to him with that exact same desire. Gayle Corris and Charles Foster had been married for a little over a year and had just moved to Ferndale, Washington about two weeks before Charles made a 911 call to confess what he had done and wanted to do.

It was the beautiful early summer of 1980 in Santa Ana, California. Dorothy Scott, a single mother to a four year old son, worked two jobs to make ends meet. A kind, soft spirited young woman, Dorothy was known to frequent church and keep a quiet life. Suddenly she started receiving phone calls from an unknown man. These calls started with adoration, but changed into threats on her life. Not long after finding a dead rose on her car, Dorothy went missing. Her remains were found 4 years later. However, those threatening phone calls? Her mother continued to receive them....for YEARS. People living in the Midwest have an opportunity to see and hear Dorothy Scott perform in her adopted state of Wisconsin, up in beautiful and art-filled Door County. It is really no coincidence that Dorothy would make her home here. Like the spectacular scenery, the art shops, restaurants with goats grazing on grass roofs, open air concerts under stars and a variety of interesting people who either vacation here or also call it home, Dorothy's eclectic style of performance fits right in. She is a veteran of the New York Music scene with Jeff Buckley, Susan McKeown, Sloan Wainright to name a few. But it is here, where art and raw nature intertwine that Scott has hit her stride. One would think that a star of her caliber would be stand-offish, but Dorothy Scott, for all her ebullience and showcraft is off-stage the kind of person you'd wish you had as that "cool" Aunt. The one who knew a thing or two about life and was going to give you the right advice without preaching. She approaches her craft with humility honed from years of experience in the harsh business world of music. She has outlasted (and outlived) many contemporaries who could not bend when the hard wind would blow. After being treated, the co-worker and a friend waited at the entrance while Dorothy went to her car, saying she would meet them out the front. However, her car sped off and disappeared into the night. Dorothy was never seen alive again. In the months before this bizarre incident, she had received threatening phone calls from a stalker. THE STRANGE CASES OF DOROTHY SCOTT AND CINDY JAMES EPISODE 21 *Dorothy Jane Scott disappeared on May 28, 1980, in Anaheim, California. She had driven two co-workers to the hospital after one had been bitten by a spider. While they were waiting for a prescription to be filled, Scott went to get her car to bring it around to meet them. Her car approached them, but it sped away; neither could see who was driving as its headlights had blinded them. They reported her missing a couple of hours later, after not hearing from her. In the preceding months, Scott had been receiving anonymous phone calls from a man who had reportedly been stalking her. He had threatened to get her alone and "cut her up into bits so no one will ever find her". *In June 1989, the quiet Vancouver, British Columbia, suburb of Richmond was shocked when a body was found lying in the yard of an abandoned house. It was of forty-four-year-old nurse named Cindy James. She had been drugged and strangled, and her hands and feet had been tied behind her back. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police believed that her death was either an accident or suicide. Notes From Her is the podcast that encourages women and others to embrace their inner multicultural melody and will be having an interruption in its normal podcast style to report on the Black Lives Matter movement and revolution. The series is entitled Voices From the Streets of the Black Lives Matter Movement. This is a special episode of the series because it mixes #BlackLivesMatter and Notes From Her’s women MOC theme into one! Meet MOC number 10, jazz legend, virtuoso pianist, and historical trailblazer the late Hazel Dorothy Scott. This is a special blast from the past episode honoring what would have been Scott’s 100th birthday celebration! The soundbites are taken from an interview she did with a Philadelphia WFIL entitled “Say it Loud: Black, Immigrant and Proud.” Hazel Dorothy Scott, was a Trinidad-born Black woman. Scott, referred to as the “Darling of Café Society” was a multi-talented woman. Her success fusing jazz, classical, and boogie music made her a jazz music legend. The virtuoso pianist was also a singer, actress, and radio personality. She was the first Black woman to host her own television show, The Hazel Scott Show. Her album Relaxed Piano Moods is considered one jazz’s most important and famous twentieth century work. She was married to the high profile congressman Adam Clayton Powell II and was a Civil Rights/Social Justice activist before her time who refused to play for segregated audiences, organized a march in Paris to the US Embassy in solidarity with Dr. King’s march in Washington DC, and also demanded she be paid as much as her white counterparts. For more information on Hazel Scott go to hazelscott.comMusic used in this episode is Hazel Scott’s playing “Black and White” on two pianos! Ota yhteyttä: jaljillapodcast@gmail.comInstagram: @jaljillapodcastMusiikki: Doug Maxwell - Heartbeat of the HoodLÄHTEET:https://www.newspapers.com/clip/7896312/dorothy-jane-scott/https://www.newspapers.com/clip/10010932/dorothy-jane-scott/https://newspaperarchive.com/crime-clipping-jun-13-1980-237343/https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1298&dat=19840820&id=PuVLAAAAIBAJ&pg=3792,2107697https://truecrimesociety.com/2019/10/02/the-disturbing-events-that-lead-to-the-unsolved-murder-of-dorothy-jane-scott/https://www.clermontsun.com/2018/10/11/marc-hoover-is-dorothy-jane-scott-at-home/https://the-line-up.com/dorothy-jane-scotthttps://medium.com/@kympasqualini/taunted-by-an-anonymous-caller-the-murder-of-dorothy-jane-scott-6dfd9abb57a4https://medium.com/@brenmar71/update-more-information-on-the-murder-of-dorothy-jane-scott-d2ba6fabb97https://www.ranker.com/list/unsolved-dorothy-jane-scott/laura-allanhttps://truecrimearticles.com/2018/03/17/djs/https://www.riku.fi/rikosuhripaivystys/riku-lehti/riku-lehti-2-2017/vainoaja-hyodyntaa-digiteknologiaa-leikiten/https://www.mtvuutiset.fi/artikkeli/vainoaminen-on-ollut-rikos-viisi-vuotta-tyypillinen-vainoaja-hairikoi-uhria-useita-kertoja-viikossa/7437118https://www.minilex.fi/a/rikoslaki-ja-vainoaminenhttps://vainoaminen.fi/ See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
