Between 1962 and 1964, the Boston Strangler was labeled as the person responsible for a series of murders in the Back Bay Area of Boston, MA. The victims, ranging in age from 19 to 85, were sexually assaulted and strangled, often in their homes. Albert DeSalvo, a handyman with a criminal history, eventually confessed to the killings, though doubts about his guilt linger due to inconsistencies and lack of physical evidence linking him to all the crimes. DNA evidence later tied DeSalvo to the final victim, but some experts believe more than one person may have been involved in the murders. The case remains one of the most notorious in American criminal history.Listen to new monthly episodes wherever you get your podcasts! Marvin started the engine and began creeping through town at 5-miles per hour to complete a 127-minute mission to destroy as many buildings as possible. Most would say he succeeded, because in this short period of time, Marvin managed to rack up over $7 million dollars in damage. Why would anyone go to such extremes? It seems that Marvin had reached his breaking point after years of battling with his local government over new land ordinances put in place after a new concrete plant was built next door to Marvin's muffler shop. After three years in business, Marvin was suddenly forced to install water lines, pay extra taxes, plus additional fines that catered specifically to him. When Marvin felt he was no longer able to meet his local government's demands, he took matters into his own hands. For about a year, Marvin worked tirelessly into the wee hours of the night to create a bullet-proof vessel, which consisted of thick metal plates, concrete, video cameras, and a .50-calibre assault rifle positioned carefully placed portals at the front of the cab. Once he felt that everything was in place, Marvin set out in his killdozer, and became a folk hero amongst the town for standing up for what they said, was "justice".Listen to new episodes every Thursday wherever you get your podcasts! It was during this time that an unidentified man - or woman - stalked the streets in the early morning hours, looking for their next unsuspecting victim. Mary Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddies, and Mary Kelly were all positively identified as the five victims of Jack the Ripper, but some say there were more. As quickly as they occurred, the murders ended abruptly, but not before Jack left a bloody trail of carnage in his path. Through DNA technology, investigators now believe they know the identity of Jack the Ripper, but simply cannot say for sure. Unless there are more viable clues, it is likely this case will never be solved.Dying to be Found and Dying to be Found: The DASH are now part of Sound Slice Podcast Productions.
