Welcome to the first installment of our new Ed Talks series—dedicated to telling the stories of our PK-12 clients and how they're enriching students' education in their local communities. What happens when a high school is designed around real-world learning, student passion, and community input? In this episode, Treanor PK-12 Education principal Scott Dangel talks with Rebecca Albert-Vollrath, Director of Career and Innovation at Weld RE-5J School District, about the transformation of Roosevelt High School into a fully integrated Career and Technical Education (CTE) campus. They explore how listening to the community reshaped the project, how CTE can benefit all students—not just those headed straight to the workforce—and what it means to design with a mission as your top priority.Topics covered: • What “fully integrated CTE” really looks like • How Roosevelt's design connects pathways, staff, and students • Lessons learned from designing flexible, future-ready spaces • Advice for school leaders considering CTETreanor is a national architecture, planning, and design firm located in the United States. The company holds a firm belief in sharing resources and insights with professionals, clients, and building users to shape the space we use to live and grow as people. McCauley explains how embracing automation, laser welding, and robotic material handling has helped AEM stay competitive, and why investing in people and creating a collaborative workplace culture are just as important as investing in technology. Tune in for insights on leading a small to mid-sized fab shop through innovation and adaptability. At the top, we also chat about The Fabricator's 2025 Industry Award winner Special Products & Mfg. (SPM) and Nora Harding's upcoming appearance on the Ed Talks podcast. This episode was recorded during the FMA Annual Meeting at Gila River Resorts & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass in Chandler, Arizona. A message from Ed - Build to Rent is a tiny sector at the moment - with perhaps c.150k units in a vast sea of property. However, with private landlords (sadly) exiting the sector, and some developers struggling to sell stock, the ability of an experienced operator to manage large numbers of units by taking a chunk of a development is increasingly attractive and one way to maintain a sufficient flow of rental properties. However, with pension funds always looking for long term safety and returns and a Gov't seemingly looking to increase housing stock, simply taking stock off developers isn't going to be anywhere near enough.Step forward SFH, single family homes. Traditionally more difficult to manage en masse as they tend to be pepper potted about geographically. The majority of us live in a house, so we need more houses - and investing in portfolios of actual houses is a good way of doing it.Smaller Estate Agents have usually struggled to get into land and new homes BUT, this rush to BTR and SFH could be a godsend to forward thinking agents. Investors are looking for portfolios, so if agents have intimate knowledge of their locale, one of their main assets surely, they must be able to seek out such housing and developments and put them to investors with a view to helping manage as well?Great opportunity that Richard and I discuss in more detail - I think you'll find this seriously interesting...

Using basketball as a tool, he has led his players to 100% high school graduation and a 3.4 team GPA. Coach McKenzie shares stories about his journey at Minneapolis high schools and how he helps his student athletes become champions on the basketball court, in the classroom, in their families and in their communities.
