Although this helps soybeans grow, it also allows one of their diseases to grow. That being white mold. Research is ongoing to figure out the best way to deal with this fungus using biological control agents. Damon Smith, a professor in plant pathology, is here to share some information on their study that looks to find the best practices when using the agent commonly known as Contans.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this must-listen episode of The Coach Debbie Potts Show, I'm joined by Damon Smith from CellCore Biosciences to break down one of the most crucial but overlooked pillars of healing: drainage pathways and the importance of the order of operations in detoxification. We discuss why drainage must come before detox, how to identify signs your body isn't eliminating properly, and what happens when toxins get mobilized but have nowhere to go. Damon outlines CellCore's 4-Phase Roadmap and explains how to work with the body instead of against it. When symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, skin flares, or constipation show up during a detox protocol, it's often a sign your drainage pathways are congested. In this episode, Damon shares how we go back to drainage basics to restore flow and reduce the burden on the body. This includes:

In the more than four decades since Wisconsin’s first soy checkoff program launched, growers often wonder where, when, why and how checkoff resources are directed toward funding research, creating value-added uses and increasing market access. The Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board (WSMB) is inviting growers from across the state to get a closer look this summer by applying to participate in WSMB’s second statewide See For Yourself (SFY) mission Aug. 12-14. The tour’s first iteration was held in August 2024 in Wisconsin and Illinois, comprising WSMB and the Wisconsin Soybean Association (WSA) leaders. This year, WSMB is inviting grower participation from beyond the board. “We welcome the opportunity to be transparent and bring in our state’s soybean producers to join us and see for themselves how the soy checkoff is driving profitability and innovation at every turn,” WSMB Executive Director Adam Kask said. The board is offering spots to eight active Wisconsin soybean farmers. The delegation will also include WSMB farmer leaders, staff and University of Wisconsin researchers, including Dr. Shawn Conley. Expenses, which include two nights lodging, meals and transportation, will be provided by WSMB. Checkoff check in The tour will begin Tuesday morning, Aug. 12 at the Arlington Research Station, where Conley and colleagues Damon Smith and Rodrigo Werle will showcase the latest advancements in checkoff research. “We work with farmers a lot,” said Conley, a WSA director. “They want to know what their checkoff dollars are being used for, so my biggest goal is showing the work and significant amount of research dollars that farmers are supporting, and how we take very seriously the opportunity given to use these monies in a good way.” Conley said he’s also excited to demonstrate the latest technologies in drone and sprayer technologies. “There’s a lot of tools we’re developing in AI that we want to show growers,” he said. “Farmers like to see the cool things we’re doing with our technologies.” The delegation will then head to an area cranberry facility before visiting Chippewa Valley Technical College for an outdoor demonstration of SoyFoam, a soy-based firefighting foam created by Wisconsin native Dave Garlie’s Cross Plains Solutions. “SoyFoam is a project our board continues to be passionate about as a value-added use that protects our first responders, and we’re seeing that momentum behind a soy-based firefighting foam spreading across the country right now,” WSMB President Jonathan Gibbs said. On Aug. 13, growers will tour Alsum Farms & Produce and later visit Crave Brothers Creamery to learn more about how dairy cows, the state’s largest consumer of soymeal, add demand to Wisconsin soybeans. Day 2 is capped by another WSMB checkoff investment, the DeLong Co.’s Agricultural Maritime Export Facility at Port Milwaukee. The terminal is estimated to increase exports through Port Milwaukee by as much as 400,000 metric tons per year. Kask, who’s toured the facility multiple times, said WSMB continues to search for new international markets for the state’s soybean farmers, who export around 60% of their commodity. “Diversifying our markets, promoting new uses and sponsoring some of the nation’s most advanced soybean research – those are all core priorities our farmers are depending on to improve their bottom line,” he said. The SFY tour will conclude Aug. 14 with a return visit to the Arlington Research Station for a plot tour. Click here to review the tentative agenda. Interested SFY applicants can click here to apply for the SFY mission by July 22. Farmer applicants approved by WSMB will be July 25. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

He's the executive director of America's Central Port in the St. Louis region. He continues to advocate for infrastructure improvements along America's waterways, including the Mississippi River. He asks that farmers pay attention to this, too, whether they directly use the river or not. Dennis says that's because waterways are one of the primary export avenues for commodities and the primary route for inputs like fertilizer. The Wisconsin State Fair's Governor's Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction broke some records last night.  The grand champion lamb sold for a record breaking $21,500 and sold to Molson-Coors.  It was also the first time a grand champion meat goat was sold.  It brought $10,000 and was purchased by Meijer.Wisconsin corn growers have faced numerous challenges this year from too much rain, to swarms of insects - and their challenges aren't done yet.  Stephanie Hoff talks with Dr. Damon Smith, UW-Extension Plant Pathologist about the potential losses from tar spot late in the growing season.  There's not much growers can do once it shows up.Mike North, primary partner with EverAg, joins Pam Jahnke to talk about the recent upturn in the cheese market and what's happening with international demand. Unseen for a few years, two major wheat diseases have re-emerged, catching farmers off guard. Damon Smith, UW-Extension Plant Pathologist says he's starting to see diseases really taking hold and shutting the plants down early. “We're seeing the resurgence of stripe rust and fusarium head blight (scab),” says Smith. “After several years of relative calm, this has caught many by surprise.” Smith says he saw the most significant severity on certain susceptible varieties in our southern locations, particularly around Arlington. As we move north, the severity decreases, which aligns with the fact that stripe rust spores generally can't overwinter in Wisconsin and instead travel from the deep south.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

How is the current health of our crops in Wisconsin? Is there any disease pressure present despite the drought? What can we expect for estimated overall yields? These all are million dollar questions, but UW-Extension Soybean Specialist Dr. Shawn Conley has the answers. He says disease levels are low this year however we're not completely out of the woods. He provides some insight into the questions that are on many growers minds. “There might be a low risk of white mold currently, however with the last rainfall event that occurred, we're going to see a jump in soybeans,” explains Conley. “So it's important to focus on R2 and early R3 for a white mold application.” Damon Smith, UW-Disease Management Professor created an app called Tarspotter. This app has been indicating that there is a high risk of tar spot in Wisconsin. Conley says farmers should stay familiar with the app to be prepared as it is coming. To learn more about the state of small grains in Wisconsin, check out Conley's website, Cool Bean.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Topics include: Damon's WHY -drive Can CellCore be used to help endurance How can we use CellCore protocols to help HIDDEN internal sources of chronic stress (test and not guess) as hormones, immune, detox, digestion, energy and nervous system Endurance exercise -how it impacts health and longevity – how to bio hack the damage we can do to ourselves to be “Fit and Healthy” Damon's Story: After getting out of the Marine Corps I found myself wanting to help others and push myself. It started with volunteering to lead teams of teens on international trips to help the underprivileged. Building homes, teaching English and doing what we could. It was just as much for the teens as others. Fast forward a few years later, I found myself battling my own health issues. Always into fitness , I was about a year into challenging myself at CrossFit (after a meeting with the original founder) when suddenly I started losing strength , weight and couldn't sleep. Stubbornly , I was talked into visiting my doctor. 3 Months later, and fighting to maintain what I weighed at 12 years old, I was told I had Hyperthyroidism. My "Only" option , according to San Diego's #1 endocrinologist, was to radiate my thyroid and go on medication the rest of my life. My sister, a holistic dietician, was able to send me to a practitioner that helped me heal naturally. She confided in me that years earlier, having told no one but her husband, she had a brain tumor. Attacking it naturally it had also made it disappear to the point her doctor was baffled. It was then that I decided I had a new mission. To help people heal naturally...but how? I began to dig in and learn. At this point I was about 80% of optimum for my age but still dealing with some issues. Then my sister discovered CellCore. After talking to me about using the line she saw that they were hiring, and recommended I apply. I walked away from a job paying double (at the time) and couldn't be happier! After two years with them, I not only have continued to build strength and health on the products, but better yet I get to work with practitioners to help thousands of people discover their healthiest lives are ahead , not behind. Cellcore: www.cellcore.com and use code j1p29tIf to order your kit.  Ideally, work with a functional diagnostic practitioner (as Debbie) to collect clues in a full investigation so we can create a personalized self-treatment plan to feel, look and perform your best in life.

The Melbourne Documentary Film Festival kicks off its in-person in-cinema screenings on July 21st through to July 31st at the Cinema Nova. Screening at this years fest is the film, Mental as Everything: Damon Smith has estimated that he has spent around 50 thousand hours of his life, so far, participating in absurd ritualistic behaviors associated with his obsessive Compulsive Disorder. With the help of his anxious friend, Adam, these two, Australian musicians, share, with original music, preposterous humor, and outlandish animations, the intricate and debilitating nature of what it is like to live and talk about mental illness in a world where it's ok to talk about a broken arm but not ok to talk about a broken mind.https://mdff.org.au/films/mental-as-everything Andrew caught up with Damon to chat about how the film was made, what the creative process is like for a musician turned filmmaker, and the main theme of the film: mental health. It may sound like a dark subject on paper, but Mental as Everything embraces the subject with heart and compassion, and most importantly, a levity that is often missing with the subject of mental illness.
