Bear Rinehart is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist who is a founding member and lead singer of the rock band, Needtobreathe. In 2019, he announced the launch of a solo career under the name Wilder Woods. His debut solo album was released on Atlantic Records in August 2019. Today, Bear Rinehart shares his journey through fatherhood, reflecting on the challenges he faced during his childhood and the lessons he's learned along the way. With a career spanning over two decades, Bear Rinehart discusses balancing life on the road with his responsibilities as a husband and father to three boys. Bear Rinehart delves into the inspiration behind Need to Breathe's latest album, "Caves," and the song "Fall On Me," which touches on themes of fatherhood and unconditional love. He recounts the emotional experience of dropping his eldest son off at kindergarten and the realization that life is full of challenges. Bear also emphasizes the importance of creating a safe space for his children to share without fear of judgment, a philosophy that extends to his marriage and his approach to dealing with anxiety. The conversation also explores Bear Rinehart's tough childhood, including his experiences with bullying and being a preacher's kid in a small town. He shares how these experiences shaped his worldview and approach to parenting, highlighting the importance of listening to his children and recognizing their individual needs. Bear discusses encouraging his boys to pursue their passions, the significance of ownership and accountability, and how his spiritual journey influences his approach to fatherhood and his career. www.thedadedge.com/483 www.thedadedge.com/alliance www.needtobreathe.com Instagram | Facebook | TikTok | X | YouTube | Spotify | Apple Music

As bassist Mike Mills tells it, on the cusp of their formation in 1980, he and his fellow Athens, GA bandmates had a simple goal: To make a cool, 45 RPM single with a picture sleeve -- the kind they grew up on. And, if anything else (or nothing else) were to come of their band, so be it. What Mike along with guitarist Peter Buck, drummer Bill Berry and enigmatic vocalist Michael Stipe couldn't have predicted was how that single ("Radio Free Europe") and the many that followed through the next three decades on both indie and major labels ("Fall On Me," "Losing My Religion," "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?" and beyond) would shape the sound of American music. R.E.M. inarguably created a foundation for what we now loosely call "indie rock," often buoyed by Mills' supreme knack for harmony vocals against Stipe's dramatic delivery. On today's show, Mike discusses his latest LP as a member of the Baseball Project, the hours of airbrushing needed for one particular R.E.M. album cover, and his love for an Atlanta institution known only as "The Freeze." R.E.M.'s last four proper albums — which cover their final decade as a unit — were reissued on vinyl this summer. Visit remhq.com and baseballproject.net for more info on those releases.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Matteo Bocelli over Zoom video! Capitol Records released acclaimed singer/songwriter Matteo Bocelli's debut solo single, aptly entitled “Solo.” Over lush orchestral arrangements, delicate piano played by Matteo himself, and the vivid neons of modern pop production from GRAMMY® winner Jesse Shaktin, he sings passionately and clearly about lost romance, forging a new path and the void felt when a loved one is just out of reach. “Missing you with every breath I take,” he sings. “Wishing you were with me when I wake.” Matteo wrote the song with Fiona Bevan and Marco Guazzone. Download / stream “Solo” HERE. The accompanying video, which was also released today, is rich with symbolism and the natural beauty of the majestic Dolomites mountains, located in northeast Italy. It was directed by Gaetano Morbioli, who also helmed the official video for “Fall On Me,” a duet that paired Matteo with his father, opera legend Andrea Bocelli. View the official video for “Solo” HERE. Matteo Bocelli, who is graduating at the Conservatory of Lucca in Tuscany, says, “Over the past three years, Capitol Records has given me a rare opportunity – to have time, to study, to write new music, to rehearse – and I'm really proud to be able to release this first song.”Much of the world first heard Matteo on “Fall on Me,” the English/Italian song that he co-wrote for the elder Bocelli's acclaimed 2018 album, Sì, which topped the Billboard 200 and the UK Official Albums chart. The song, which has amassed nearly 300 million combined global streams, went on to soundtrack Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. The pair performed “Fall on Me” at Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Bowl as well as on numerous television programs, including “Dancing with the Stars,” Colbert, “Good Morning America,” “Royal Family Variety Performance” and “Strictly Come Dancing.” It was a powerful introduction, yet Matteo's musical journey began when he was a child. By age six, he was learning piano, and at 18 he debuted on stage to sing Verdi at the Rome Colosseum. He's worked his whole life to master his craft. But the melodies that emerge whenever the young man opens his mouth feel real in a way that can't be explained by a classical education. He sings with a purity of expression that seems innate, with charisma and clarity of purpose. We want to hear from you! We had the pleasure of interviewing A Great Big World over Zoom video!GRAMMY-award winning multiplatinum duo A Great Big World just released their third studio album, Particles. The new album features 10 tracks, including their latest single “Glowing” which they recently performed on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan – watch the full performance HERE. Also featured is their stunning collaboration with Christina Aguilera, “Fall On Me.” Each song on Particles was written from an incredibly honest place, as the duo explored finding wonder and meaning in significant and small moments alike. The entire experience was a cathartic and therapeutic process for the guys, and their hope is that by being vulnerable, others can connect with them and feel a little less alone in the universe, especially following 2020. The album artwork was meticulously designed by contemporary artist Kysa Johnson to bring the duo's vision to life. The guys wanted to explore the infinitely small with the infinitely large (think: A Great Big World vs. particles) as they believe the entire universe and all of its mystery exist in every particle. Kysa's art is exactly that. By painting tiny subatomic particle decay patterns, she is able to illustrate enormous cosmic images. We want to hear from you! Italian singer Andrea Bocelli has recently become even more well-known thanks to his “Music for Hope” concert on Easter Sunday this year, which was streamed by millions world-wide. Since then, I have been introduced to an additional song of his called “Fall On Me,” which was released in 2018 and features his son Matteo. The song is a dialogue between a father and his son who is struggling to find his purpose. I relate to this song on a deeply spiritual level and felt inspired to share why on this week's episode. I hope it resonates with you in the same way. This episode originated as a YouTube video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uOojfxCe80&t=574s To watch the official music video for “Fall On Me,” click on the link below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChcR2... See below for the lyrics to “Fall On Me” (in English): I thought sooner or later the lights up above Would come down in circles and guide me to love But I don't know what's right for me I cannot see straight I've been here too long and I don't wanna wait for it Fly like a cannonball straight to my soul Tear me to pieces and make me feel whole I'm willing to fight for it And carry this weight But with every step, I keep questioning what is true Fall on me With open arms Fall on me From where you are Fall on me With all your light With all your light With all your light Soon you will find what your heart wants to know Don't give up hope for I know you are close And all you have ever dreamed, wished you could ever be Is waiting to find you wherever you go Believe in yourself every step that you take Know I am smiling with pride every day My love will forever be stronger than stone So don't be afraid you are never alone Fall on me With open arms Fall on me From where you are Fall on me With all your light With all your light With all your light I close my eyes and I'm seeing you everywhere I step outside, it's like I'm breathing you in the air I can feel you are there Fall on me With open arms Fall on me From where you are Fall on me With all your light With all your light With all your light To access the article I reference in this episode, where producer Bob Ezrin tells the story behind Andrea Bocelli's duet with his son, see here: https://www.billboard.com/articles/ne... In this episode of the Abiding Together Podcast, we had the pleasure of interviewing Fr. Mike Schmitz! Fr. Mike is a wonderful speaker and evangelist, but more than that, he is a beautiful witness of what it looks like to be a spiritual father. We discuss spiritual fatherhood in the priesthood and some of the stumbling blocks in our relationship with God the Father. We also discuss what restored masculinity and the family looks like. Stel nou: je moet een playlist maken met R.E.M.-nummers die eigenlijk de hele wereld zou moeten kennen. Welke zou je er dan in zetten, Shiny Happy People of Fall On Me? Hey, kids, rock 'n roll!
