Opening Session, Brazil Weekend Retreat, Mosteiro Itaici, Sao Paulo with David Hoffmeister and Paulinha OliveiraThis Brazil weekend retreat is a practical opportunity to experience the deep presence of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, allowing us to deepen our faith and trust. The theme of the Holy Instant is explored, as it is difficult for humans to accept holiness in a world of linear time. The Holy Spirit helps us see the whole picture, allowing us to call and forgive ourselves and walk day by day, moment by moment, in trust. If you want to know more about David Hoffmeister and the Living Miracles events, here is more information: https://www.the-christ.net/eventsRecorded, December 13, 2024, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

1st Session - Opening Session, "Do Not See Error" with David Hoffmeister at Awakening to Love Center, Torrox, Spain In this talk David discusses the importance of understanding forgiveness and the role of the Holy Spirit in guiding us through life. He emphasizes that everything we perceive as linear time is a false perception invented by the ego, and God is eternal. The Holy Spirit, also known as the Holy Ghost, is an immortal being capable of seeing errors but always looking to the light of truth. This makes the Holy Spirit the answer in any situation.David also discusses the Ten Commandments, emphasizing the importance of loving the Lord like God with all one's heart, soul, and light. Jesus emphasized the first two commandments, and it is more helpful to focus on them. Focusing on the second commandment, "Love thy neighbor as thyself," allows for a unified awareness where all symbols are seen as the same.Forgiveness is about not seeing errors or being unaware. It does not involve recognizing harm or wrongdoing, as it is already bought by the ego's bait. There is no need for forgiveness in heaven, as all is one, and forgiveness is unknown in heaven. However, forgiveness is essential for overcoming the ego's trap and finding true peace in pure love, oneness, and pure God.If you want to know more about David Hoffmeister and the Living Miracles events, here is more information: https://www.the-christ.net/eventsRecorded, Morning October 25, Torrox, Spain.

He refers to Jesus as the way, the truth, and the life, and we must be willing to invite Christ and the Holy Spirit into our hearts and minds to guide us and show us the way. This week, Surfing the MASH Tsunami looks back on interviews Roger Green conducted during the EASL Congress itself. This conversation with Fatty Liver Alliance Founder and CEO Mike Betel took place Wednesday of Congress week, a day for special sections and industry presentations, but one day before the General Session opened. The first part of the conversation centered on the Patient Advocate session that Mike chaired with Shira Zelber-Sagi. (This is the focus of Season 5 Episode 23.) The goal of this session was to discuss barriers to addressing unmet needs in a clinical setting and explore potential solutions. He listed the speakers and their topics, and then went straight to his key takeaway: patients around the world are having challenges getting personal attention and time from their treaters. He mentions one panelist who once told a doctor, "I know you're listening but you're not hearing me." The conversation also touched on stigma and how it comes into these discussions. The rest of this interview touched briefly on the Opening Session and a couple of industry-sponsored sessions Mike attended. His final point was to emphasize the exceptional opportunities for networking at an event like this one.

Family Medicine as Social JusticePresented by PJ Parmar, MD, Ardas Family MedicineSTFM Annual Conference 2024 Opening General Session | Sunday, May 5, 2024 Many family medicine providers enter the field with significant idealism, and over the course of their career, they get jaded and burned out. For some this happens by the end of their training. This is not the outcome we want. Historically we have been known as community leaders in social justice. Returning our focus to social justice can provide motivation and variety to keep us engaged. To get there, we will need to shift the culture of our practices. This can happen by taking accountability for our privileges, understanding the barriers our patients face, and considering how we can use our training to shift our privileges to those with less. There are tools of patient flow which we can use to improve our encounters and reduce barriers, but the tools also include those which are not just medical. The goal is not just health equity, where we focus on all patients, but health justice, where we focus on the more disadvantaged.Learning Objectives: At the end of the session each participant should...Identify 3 elements of your current practice that are causing barriers to underserved medicine.Brainstorm ideas for reducing those barriersIdentify one ideal that you had, when going into medicine, which you have not pursued as much as you have wanted. Consider what you can do to return to that ideal.Presentation SlidesCopyright © Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, 2024PJ Parmar, MD: PJ Parmar is a family doctor for refugees, asylees, y los sin papeles in the Denver area. He has spoken widely on primary care underserved medicine, including in his TED Talk. He attended the University of Colorado School of Medicine and the nearby St. Anthony Family Medicine residency, and occasionally precepts trainees from both.
