In this episode I had the pleasure of speaking with author, Paige Loehr, to discuss her book "The Roots in a Woman." She's a speaker, author, woman, and child of God always being led by the Holy Spirit. Enjoy! "Here I am today having survived those attacks on my destiny and having walked through extreme healing with the help of the Holy Spirit. My number one goal is to share my story with anyone willing to listen. I want to share not as some educated person trying to help them through knowledge but as a healed person helping them through the power of my testimony. I am not looking to become anyone's hero, I am looking to point everyone to the hero. I am looking to be real, raw, and vulnerable with you all so that you know you are not alone." - Paige Loehr

Homeschool Science Tip of the Month - Give your kids the tools to build something. There's a meme out there that says physics is the branch of science concerned with using extremely long and complicated formulas to describe how a ball rolls. Homeschool Science Tip of the Month – Try a few out-of-the-box science ideas. There is a lingering feeling amongst educators that if a textbook (or encyclopedia) wasn't cracked open or an experiment wasn't done, then our students didn't learn about science. Key Takeaway->The point is to make your read-aloud time work for you, not to have some Norman Rockwell homeschooling moment. In our last episode, I said that we were reading aloud a lot more these days. But if you have one (or more) of those wiggly children, bursting with energy, reading aloud may end up as stressful instead of soothing. So this week, we are going to chat about three tips to help you enjoy reading aloud in your homeschool.Years of homeschooling experience packed with trial and error have taught me to do these things when reading aloud:1. Read aloud after breaks.2. Keep hands busy.3. We have 8 years between our two kiddos and have homeschooled both of them. At times, it was the best thing ever to have a big age gap. At times, it was the most challenging thing ever to have a big age gap. And it's out of those experiences that I am sharing today's three tips! Here is what we do:1. Connect with morning time.2. When it comes to kids and screens, everyone has their own opinion. That's why I invited Paige Flamm to come on to talk about her own personal journey going from a mom who used screen time as a way for her to entertain her kids so she could escape and relax, to going completely cold turkey and having no screens, to where she is now which is a very intentional balance of the two. In this episode, you’ll learn that there isn’t one right way to manage screens, but by following the cues your kids (and you) are seeing, you can find what is right for you. Paige is a great and real example of how to do that. If you’ve ever been scared of taking screen time away from your kids, or how you would manage without it, or how to keep your kids from being bored without it, this episode is definitely one you’ll want to listen to.
