In Dinner for Shoes podcast episode 60, Women, Money & Smarter Shopping 2025, host Sarah Wasilak chats with the founders of Wealth of a Woman, Lauren Reed Williams and Teresa J.W. Bailey, about the ins and outs of managing personal finances as a woman 2025. They discuss how shopping plays a part in achieving a desired lifestyle and the reasons why women should feel empowered to own their spending. Lauren and Teresa educate their clients and help women explore and redefine their relationships with money through a free, six-lesson course that is both relatable and meaningful. As a follow-up, Sarah does some honest reflecting on her personal spending, classifying major purchases she's made as either investments or impulse splurges — while revealing what she learned from these experiences.  Sarah tries Lauren's favorite meal, steak and truffle butter, from The Brick Fire Baked Pizza, which feels like a happy compromise since Teresa's favorite meal is, in fact, pizza.  Finally, Sarah fields her next Shoe Therapy call. Whether you're in need of outfit advice or in the midst of a style dilemma, the Shoe Therapy hotline is open for your anonymous voicemails. I've been budgeting and managing my money for a long time. I've learned so much about myself along the way, and finally getting into a rhythm with my money and budget has put me in the best financial place I've ever been in. It's hard to imagine anyone's confidence not growing after that! In this episode, I'm sharing how managing my money has boosted my confidence and allows me to take on opportunities I may not have taken. I'm so proud of how far I've come, and while there's still more to go, I'm fully confident in my abilities to get there.   Here's a glance at this episode: [01:40] There was a point in time where Raya didn't have confidence being in certain rooms. Managing her money has changed that. [04:34] Raya has always been comfortable with risks. She shares an early experience of taking on a loan when she couldn't afford the cost outright. [08:59] One reason it took Raya so long to take CGS full-time was a fear of not making enough money on her own. Her confidence has since changed. [12:45] 2023 was a year that resulted in a big income drop for Raya. Her ability to manage money gave her confidence to power through. [15:50] Raya has always had a fear of “things going wrong” even when it seems unlikely. She shares how she worked through it.   Rate, Review, & Follow: Did you love this episode? 6 Money Fears Hurting Your Success

In simple terms, fear is the response to perceived physical or emotional danger. Fear is your brain's way of recognizing a threat and prompting you to protect yourself. If we were in ancient times, our fear response would be necessary to keep us safe. Nowadays, not so much. We're not facing imminent danger like people were back then. Sure, there are other dangers that are present in our current times, and fear is absolutely appropriate in those situations. However, there are other situations where fear isn't warranted. We just have to train our brains to not be fearful of those situations. In this episode, I'm sharing 6 money fears hurting your success. My goal is to help you work through these fears and see what amazing things come out on the other side.   Here's a glance at this episode: [02:41] Raya gives an example from her past where her fear response happened, but the situation truly didn't call for it. [06:35] Investing is one of the best ways to build long-term wealth. We have to take ownership of learning what to do when it comes to investing. [11:31] If you're not putting your cash in an account that's generating interest, you're losing money due to inflation. [17:42] Hoarding money can be the result of a fear of something happening. This could keep you from making your money work best for you. [22:14] The fear of spending money and not getting a tangible return in place can be extremely detrimental to your growth, in money and life.   Rate, Review, & Follow: Did you love this episode? Hello there everyone. Welcome back to the podcast. I'm sure many of you have read the title of this episode and asked “Why is Michelle having a conversation about money on a podcast entitled Thrive Beyond Size?” At first glance it doesn't seem to fit, I know. But here's the reason why: there are a lot of similarities between our relationship with food and our relationship with money. In past times when I thought I was doing “really good” with food, I was spending money like crazy because that dopamine hit needed to come from somewhere. So to heal our relationship with our whole selves - food, weight, work, money - I've invited financial planner and founder of Mindset & Money, Linda Grizely, to talk with me today.I struggle a lot with money and Linda is no stranger to helping people like me improve our relationships with money. Whatever internal obstacles we have can be confronted by changing our mindset, and Linda is an expert in setting a positive mindset around money. Linda notes that a lot of how we deal with money is handed down from what we experience our parents or grandparents doing and changing that script is part of how we change our mindset. We talk about habits like not living within our means or overspending and Linda explains the reasons behind those mindsets and scarcity mindsets. Our conversation covers how understanding finance can help alleviate the stress surrounding it, why struggling to make peace with how we view money is very similar to the struggle we have with loving our bodies, and how to decide when to prioritize ourselves versus setting aside savings. Linda's insight gave me a lot to think about in terms of my own money views and I hope you feel similarly inspired by this episode.  __About Linda Grizely:Welcome to Linda Grizely, your Money Mindset Mentor.  Linda is passionate about guiding women through transformative journeys. In her career as a financial planner, Linda witnessed clients facing self-imposed obstacles that hindered their financial growth. Many times, she found herself thinking, "If only they could break free from these internal barriers." Or more realistically, “They need to get out of their own way!”Reflecting on this, Linda thought about her own experiences with money. Growing up in a lower-middle-class household, she had inherited a scarcity mindset. As her life progressed, she experienced diverse money situations and observed many narratives. Through these vast life experiences, and through self-realization, she set out on a journey of self-improvement and unwittingly rewrote her money script. Now, she empowers others to overcome internal obstacles to financial success. At Mindset & Money, she enables women to shift their money mindsets, dismantling internal obstacles blocking their financial success.__Resources mentioned in this episode:“The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America's Wealthy” by Thomas J Stanley PhD and William D Danko PhDThe Money Mastery Mindset Cohort__Learn more about Linda Grizely:Website: MindsetAndMoney.comInstagramFacebookYouTubeLinkedInLearn more about Dr. Michelle Tubman and Wayza Health:Website: www.wayzahealth.comFollow me on Facebook and Instagram
