Change Lives Make Money: The Podcast For Online Trainers

Today I'm joined once again by PT-Dom Head Coach Cole DaSilva! We're also joined by Chad and Farshad from Beyond Built! Today we are talking about Will to Win. What does Will to Win actually mean?  For Cole it means weathering any and every storm that comes up no matter what. A lot of people will fail because they allow problems to crop up and push them away from their goals. But nothing stops Cole from working towards his purpose.  Farshad believes the Will to Win is having the emotional awareness to perceive things for what they are. It involves being patient as you face setbacks, knowing that nothing worthwhile happens without some kind of difficulty. For Chad the Will to Win is being willing and able to use your emotional intensity to move towards what you want to achieve even as you embrace your losses and failures. It also involves having an abundance of gratitude and curiosity about those inevitable losses. I feel the Will to Win is the refusal to be denied. It's like I see this idea in my mind of what my life could be and where I could go, and I absolutely refuse to accept any other outcome than what I desire.  The hardest thing about this conversation is that many people view “winning” as a linear process. They feel that they deserve to win. So, when they are instead met with a loss, they are thrown off, and their Will to Win is damaged by the storm. (Listen to episode #471 and learn how you can harness your own Will to Win!) I've Been There. I've Done That. Now Learn with Me. I know all the ins and outs of online fitness coaching. Breaking the Stuckness Stalemate (Part 2)

This episode is a first for this podcast--a “part two” continuation of a previous episode. It features a fellow coach and my good friend, Chad James, and together we unpack the 5 ingredients in the recipe for using stuckness to our benefit that I shared in Ep. 027, Breaking the Stuckness Stalemate: A Path to Transformation.  When I released that episode, I was vaguely aware that it felt unfinished somehow, but I couldn’t put my finger on why. Then I got unsolicited feedback from my wife and Chad that although they really liked the episode, it felt unfinished to them, too. And Chad mentioned that the five basic ingredients in the recipe for using stuckness to our benefit was the part he wanted to hear more about.  That connected the dots for me on what felt unfinished and what needed to be done about it. And since I’ve been wanting to have Chad on the podcast for a while anyway, I decided to strike while the iron was hot, as it were, and kill two birds with one stone by asking Chad to join me to help land this plane that was left circling the airfield.  If you haven’t already tuned in to Ep. 027, you can still listen to this one first because I summarize the big idea from that episode at the beginning of this one. But for full benefit, I do recommend listening to Ep. 027, too. It’s short and easy to digest at just 15 mins--and in it I pull back the curtain on one of my own recent episodes of stuckness on the way to making the point.   Introducing Chad James Chad James is a veteran business coach with 20+ years of experience. His own experience in business and his intuitive gifting for discerning core issues, coupled with empathy, compassion, and a vast resource of tools and strategies for optimizing business and life, make Chad a highly-sought-after, highly-trusted, and valuable partner for “succeeding faster, living better, and creating the life you’ve always imagined.” He’s led an amazingly diverse and adventurous life, and he’s often picking up some new pursuit for the sake of stretching and challenging himself and embracing the “beginner’s mind” again. He has a huge heart. He brings all of who he is to his work as a coach.  Chad’s also a good friend of mine and a mentor in life and business, too. In fact, he was catalytic in my development of The Graveyard Group masterminds--of which he is a founding member--and has helped me climb numerous professional learning curves more quickly than I would have on my own. The original concept out of which I developed this 2-part podcast series, “If you’re stuck, get moving,” was formulated in preparation for an event at which Chad invited me to speak. To say that he’s been influential in my life would be a huge understatement.    Something New from Chad--and a Special Deal for You Chad has just launched a brand new project that I’m really excited about and I hope you’ll check out, called Mavericks--a membership-based group coaching experience that makes Chad’s wealth of wisdom, tools, and strategies available to many more than ever before, in the context of a group of others playing full-out in the game of life.  I’m pumped to share that Chad’s offering Andrew Petty is Dying listeners 25% off of their first-month’s membership. Just visit carrynobrand.com, and enter the code “Andrew” at checkout. Membership is super reasonably priced at less than $100 a month, and it gives you exclusive access to Chad and his treasure trove of resources.    First, a Refresher: Ep. 027 Summary If you haven’t yet tuned into part 1 of this 2-part series on breaking the stuckness stalemate, go here to tune in or read the shownotes, or read this brief summary of the main points, below:   The Big Idea: If you’re stuck, get moving.  Even more specifically, get moving with and through the stuckness.  Other Important Stuff Supporting the Big Idea Stuck is never fun--in fact, it can actually be really painful--but stuckness is a normal and necessary part of life as a human on planet Earth. It alerts us to the fact that there’s a gap between where we are and where we want to be. And something unconscious and unknown is in our way. Stuckness is a chance to make the unconscious conscious--to generate fresh insight to which we can then apply action and achieve some sort of transformation.  Because Insight + Action = Transformation.  The stuckness is always there for a reason.  With practice, we can learn to see the stuckness as an indicator that we’re on the brink of a new opportunity to grow and evolve. But moving through stuckness to the good stuff beyond is less like the caterpillar emerging from a caterpillar than it is like a snake shedding its skin. It takes effort and intention and time--and it’s uncomfortable. The accompanying psychological pain of stuckness is essential, though. Our desire for relief from it motivates us to do the work to get unstuck. The discomfort is necessary to produce the insights that lead to action that result in some kind of transformation.  Stuckness is a guide appointed by our hearts and minds to show us the way to something even better.  We have choices, of course, when stuckness shows up. Broadly speaking, we can retreat from it, stall out in the face of it, or advance through it. Neither retreating nor stalling out will produce a good result. Only advancing through it will.  Here are five basic ingredients in the recipe for using stuckness to our benefit: Become familiar with your own tell-tale signs of stuckness. In my experience, some of the typical signs include irritability, distractedness, restless energy, a lack of focus, and loss of a sense of humor.  Acknowledge that you’re stuck, and invite the stuckness to teach you. This acceptance will create the openness of heart and mind that allows the unconscious to be made conscious. Don’t fight it or try to muscle your way past it. Resistance or avoidance or sheer force of will makes the stuckness an enemy rather than a useful mentor.  Take 100% responsibility for your stuckness. It’s your problem--no one else’s. Request help from others--friends, experts, a therapist, whomever or whatever seems appropriate to the situation--but retain full ownership of the problem and the solution.  Tap into the negative energy--frustration, anger, etc.--to fuel positive forward movement through the stuckness.  Finally, get moving--with and through the stuckness. So, if you’re stuck, get moving. Even more specifically, get moving through the stuckness so it can teach us what it’s there for.  The more skillful we become at leveraging life’s many encounters with stuckness, the more we will milk out of this life, the more we will bring into it for our own fulfillment and others’ benefit, and the fewer deathbed regrets we’ll have.   Now, Part 2! Now, without further ado, let’s jump into the meat of this episode--part 2 of Breaking the Stuckness Stalemate: The 5 Ingredients in the Recipe for Using Stuckness to Our Benefit, with Chad James! Since this part 2 episode focuses on unpacking the 5 ingredients in much greater depth and detail, I’ll organize what follows under subheadings for each ingredient. I won’t come close to capturing all of the great stuff, so tune in to the full episode for more.    Ingredient 1: Get Acquainted With It Become familiar with the tell-tale signs of stuckness. In my experience, some of the typical signs include irritability, distractedness, restless energy, a lack of focus, and loss of a sense of humor. Some key points from this part of the discussion: It’s important to recognize the primary emotion you’re experiencing.  Sometimes, somatic (physical) indicators appear first in times of mental (psychological) stuckness--even before we’re aware of the specific emotion. So training ourselves to become more aware of our specific “psychosomatic” early warning signs is an important part of using stuckness to our benefit. For Chad, common psychosomatic indicators are sensations in the center of his chest and tightness in his neck.  This helps us avoid the instinctive “fight or flight” response to discomfort and unpleasant emotions--and move with and through the stuckness instead.  We brought Steven Pressfield’s concept of Resistance--a form of stuckness--into the conversation, from his fantastic book, The War of Art. (To get the essence of this Resistance idea (and a whole lot more) w/out first reading the whole book, tune into Tim Ferriss’ recent interview with Steven Pressfield.) Chad had this to say, “I think that one of the very important concepts in taking things to the next level is understanding--not just understanding but accepting and maybe even celebrating--that Resistance is part of that journey. So as we see that Resistance, that could be an exciting moment, it could be an awesome moment, it could be an area where we go, "Oh wait, something cool's about to happen!" When we change our relationship with Stuckness / Resistance, we can learn the lesson it’s there to teach us and achieve the transformation available on the other side.  The hard way--through the stuckness, for example--is often the best way.  And more...   Ingredient 2: Acknowledge It Acknowledge that you’re stuck, and invite the stuckness to teach you. This acceptance will create the openness of heart and mind that allows the unconscious to be made conscious. Don’t fight it or try to muscle your way past it. Resistance or avoidance or sheer force of will makes the stuckness an enemy rather than a useful mentor. Some key points from this part of the discussion: “The faster we energetically acknowledge that something is wrong...the faster we can begin to take action toward fixing it. And often that action...just has to do with moving toward it.” -Chad If I fail to acknowledge it, I start living my life in avoidance of it. So it’s still calling the shots. It’s better to just acknowledge it, deal with it, and move on.    Ingredient 3: Own It Take 100% responsibility for your stuckness. It’s your problem--no one else’s. Request help from others--friends, experts, a therapist, whomever or whatever seems appropriate to the situation--but retain full ownership of the problem and the solution. Some key points from this part of the discussion: Nobody’s coming to save you--as Chad’s Air Force Colonel dad reminded him as a kid. As adults, it’s our job to self-rescue. If we expect or demand that others will fix our stuckness, we’ll get into victim territory and create unnecessary collateral damage. So I hear...not that I have any recent personal experience with this… Take responsibility first. Then enroll others to help you.  Your spouse / significant other is not your therapist.    Ingredient 4: Harness It Tap into the negative energy--frustration, anger, etc.--to fuel positive forward movement through the stuckness. Some key points from this part of the discussion: “Be with” the discomfort of stuckness. If we’re constantly fighting it, we can’t act our way out of it.  If we didn't have some of the pain associated with these moments of stuckness, we'd lack the motivation to grow. Cognitive dissonance pulls us forward.  Slow down. If we're inclined to believe that we can't slow down for an episode of stuckness, then we’re going to revisit it again later. The stuckness will recur and build until you HAVE to pay attention to it--often at a much higher cost.  If we slow down, be with it, and rely on the fact that we've been here before--then we tend to put ourselves in a better place for action.  And a plethora (cue The Three Amigos clip…) of metaphors to help us “see” what we’re saying--from dirtbike racing to soccer and mountain biking and flying a plane. As in these things, so in life!    Ingredient 5: Take Action Finally, get moving--with and through the stuckness. Some key points from this part of the discussion: If nothing else, simply be sure to take some action, to move in some way. If you’re stuck, get moving.  Good action is never wishing the problem would go away. Good action starts from the point of stuckness and moves forward from there.  Action with intention toward our stuckness always solves our problem better. It’s important to act on the insights we gain from slowing down to learn what the stuckness is there for. Take action on what you learn so the insight can produce transformation. Insight + Action = Transformation.  There are things we simply can’t know without taking action.  You can’t pre-solve stuckness. You can’t think your way out of stuckness. You have to act your way out of stuckness.   That’s It In a Nutshell. Now It’s Your Turn.  With Chad’s help and over two episodes, I’ve done what I can to help us understand stuckness, upgrade our relationship with it, and use it to our benefit. Now it’s your turn. What are one or two insights you’ve gained on this topic than you can put to work in your own life right now?    Break the Stuckness Stalemate in Your Own Life I hope this episode has helped you evolve your relationship with stuckness--our challenging but normal and necessary companion in life. How to Get Better Prospecting Results According to Chad Burmeister, Ep #223

How do you get better prospecting results? What is the best and easiest way to bring in leads? How do prospecting and lead generation play valuable roles in the sales process? In this episode of Sales Reinvented, Chad Burmeister shares how he pairs innovative thinking with leading technology to get better prospecting results.  Chad Burmeister is the CEO of ScaleX AI which aims to solve salespeople’s pipeline problems. Chad’s goal is to empower sales professionals to become the best version of themselves by focusing on their mindset, skillset, and toolset. Don’t miss his valuable take on the lead generation and prospecting process.  Outline of This Episode [0:51] The difference between prospecting and lead generation [2:08] Why are they important? [3:21] Chad’s perfected prospecting process [5:26] Success relates directly to your level of EQ—not IQ [7:35] Get comfortable being “Iron Man” [8:38] Chad’s top 3 do’s and don’ts [10:48] Why you NEED to be different Why both prospecting and lead generation are valuable Chad sees prospecting as getting a list and making emails, phone calls, or social connections. It’s marketing outward. Lead generation is more along the lines of creating content—like a podcast episode—that you drop out on social channels, email, etc. Prospecting is a brute-force technique and lead generation is finessed.  Chad emphasizes that lead generation is hugely valuable. If you can become your own marketing department and create your own content, you can be a thought leader and expert in your space. You’ll get personal inbound leads to yourself—not just your business. It’s a combination of brute-force and flow of inbound leads.  Chad’s ScaleX prospecting process Chad’s company has perfected the prospecting process. They pull 1,000 leads a month. They then have a virtual assistant execute 3,000–5,000 emails against that list of people. Then they automate social outreach and do 50,000 impressions through paid ads against the same people. They just added the ability to send Vidyard or Loom videos to the top 100 prospects as well. It’s the brute-force prospecting that’s 80% automated and 20% human-driven.  For Chad, the lead generation process means jumping into a monthly meeting where he records video for an hour plus. That one video gets chopped into 60 to 90-second segments that get pushed out onto his social channels. That alone brings in 2–3 leads a day.  Success relates directly to your level of EQ—not IQ Chad points out that the level of success you have prospecting relates directly to your level of EQ—not IQ. When you’re selling to a certain part of the market, what are their triggers? What is their emotional process? It needs to be natural for your audience to understand. Park Howell teaches a simple process: You set the context, then you use “and” to raise the stakes, then “but”, and “therefore.” You can use this for anything you’re selling. It’s a simple approach to mapping your audience to your solution. You have to put out content that hits home and gets people to take a specific action. Chad shares a specific example—listen to hear him drive the point home. How do you get better results? Be different. At the beginning of the pandemic, one of Chad’s customers called him. One of the companies she did PR for was ordered to switch their apparel production over to mask production. So they printed 100 million masks and sold them all to Amazon in one week. She knew she could continue to do well from a commission perspective. So she asked Chad to help her come up with an approach for selling masks.  So they got together and recorded a 43-second voicemail. They then pulled a list of 1,200 heads of procurement from Fortune 2,000 companies and left them voicemails for 2 days straight. She got 3–5 returned calls per hour. 70% of the time they didn't even listen to the message but still called back. What Chad learned is that you have to get the right person on the phone. His client sold $10 million worth of masks in 6–8 weeks. There were hundreds of other companies out there selling masks that did emails, social outreach, and other traditional means. The moral of the story? You have to be different than everyone else or you’re going to get the same results. Chad Peterson is an expert business broker and the founder of Peterson Acquisitions, an award-winning M&A firm. Chad’s firm handles transactions in the $1 million to $25 million range, with some deals exceeding $25 million.  He works with companies all over the United States and has completed international deals as well. Peterson Acquisitions was recently named by one publication as the #1 ranked business broker in the United States. What sets Chad Peterson apart from all other business brokers is his aggressive style, work ethic and tenacity that are rooted in his humble beginnings.  Chad Peterson is a self-made entrepreneur that has been in the trenches. He has started, built and sold 6 of his own businesses. Chad wrote the book “From Blue to White: A Working Man’s Guide to Self-Employment”. Best-selling author Scott Alexander of “Rhinoceros Success” wrote the foreword. He also wrote the book “Swinging Doors: A Guide to Selling Your Business” and is the host of the podcast:Business Brokers: Buying, Selling & Growing Businesses Podcast Highlights   Who is Chad Peterson?    If you study people who are driven you will always find a point in time where it all began. For Chad, he grew up in a tumultuous house with a difficult upbringing and early on his defining moment was realizing that he had to do things on his own. In his words “if it was meant to be it was up to me.” He worked hard as a kid, earned his own money and quickly enough people started to recognize that and praise him for his effort.  As a natural entrepreneur, Chad had difficulty in school and found himself in the work program. He eventually became a commercial pilot but that career was cut short by 9/11 and he quickly went back to his entrepreneurial roots. He built several companies and sold them over the next few years until the second inflection point of his life. In 2008, Chad had built a company that had 120 employees and was making $7 to $10 million a year. The trouble was the company was in the subprime mortgage industry and was completely destroyed by the crisis. In only a few short months, Chad went from a millionaire to broke. Instead of being defeated, Chad picked himself up and built a different company selling home services and things carried on. Eventually people started asking him how to build and sell businesses, which is how Chad ended up where he is now and a top business broker in the United States.   The Impact of Mindset   Chad feels that his mindset of his life being up to him is responsible for at least 85% of his success. When you’re hungry in your soul, you will make things happen. Success is survival, and for Chad if he doesn’t feel like he’s progressing he feels like he’s dying.   Why $700 to $1000 a day?   Home services between $700 and $1000 are still affordable for most Americans, even during a recession. By going for volume instead of a high price tag he knew that more people would take him up on his offer. During hard economic times, volume will beat out margin and a steady flow of income is important to keeping things going.   Taking Risk When There Is Fear In The Marketplace   There are people who act now that will make a huge amount of money during this crisis. It may seem logical to wait when you’re afraid or uncertain, but that’s what kills an economy. We are in a collapse scenario and fear is only going to

Real Estate World | The Real Estate Doctor Chad Nash has been in the real estate world for less than two years and he already has already become an inspiring figure in his discipline. By using an educator-first approach to serve his clients, Chad managed to close thirty transactions and $50M in volume in his first year alone! Everyone who knows Chad knows him as “The Real Estate Doctor” since he combines his advanced education training in economics and data analyses, and professional experiences in philanthropic & community development to give his clients superior customer service and stewardship. His team is growing quickly, and in this episode of Pursuing Freedom, Chad shares some of the practices that helped him achieve early success! Network Your Way Chad might be the first person to ever tell me he fell in love with real estate on the heels of the classes. But coming from a background in education as a senior administrator with Denver Public Schools, it made sense that he found his stride in the classroom. In the real estate world, education and mentorship click with people in different ways. So, it is important that the teachers and resources you encounter align with who you are as a person; not as a realtor. Chad had to work through multiple brokerages and mentors to find the right fit, but there is nothing wrong with that. As long as you are networking in a way that is authentic to you, you can start to establish your credibility as a real estate professional whether it’s with people who know you or people you’ve never met. Reimagine Open Houses To be a great networker in the real estate world, it takes a comprehensive strategy. But where do you start? Open houses? Cold calling? Some of the tactics you dread can be fruitful depending on how you approach them, and Chad has experienced a lot of success using a multi-tiered approach to open-houses. His strategy is built around the concept of social proof and he leverages technology like Facebook live to generate buzz around the work he is doing. He makes video testimonials, posts pictures, and ultimately drums up business by creating a magnetic aura that people can see. Chad’s circle gets to witness the success he is having and they want to be apart of it. But he has always brought that level of energy into his interactions. Now, his real estate strategy and his energy are aligned. About Chad Nash Affectionately known as the “Real Estate Doctor”, Chad is dedicated to educating and empowering his clients to make strategic, informed decisions regarding their real estate needs. He has advanced degrees in Economics and Data Analyses, providing an unparalleled level of knowledge and expertise during all aspects of the real estate partnership with his clients. A Colorado native, Chad has lived all across the Denver Metro area and the Front Range. This enables him to have a very unique and thorough understanding of the varying neighborhoods and communities that his clients might be interested in exploring. He often reflects on how the Mile High City has been transformed from a "dusty, old, cow town" into its current state, where real estate ownership, property development, and community growth opportunities are seemingly endless. Chad has the ability to connect diverse groups of individuals and communities through his relaxed, easy-going personality and genuine love for getting to know and help others. Complemented by a very detailed and data-driven approach to his work, he is a rare breed in the real estate industry. His advanced education training and past professional experiences in philanthropic investing and community development help Chad provide his clients with superior real estate education and customer service. For Chad, real estate is not simply a transaction; it's a tool for creating wealth, freedom, and a lasting legacy. In your partnership with him, he will always treat it as such. In today's episode, Cody and Justin are joined by Chad Methner from Little Brother Life Coach. Chad really wants to encourage people how to reach FI even if they're nowhere near a six-figure salary. We discuss his battles during the recession, finding himself in a job he hated, and how he came through it all. You'll catch Chad now helping others through coaching and setting up local meetups. It's a unique angle so go listen and follow along with the summary below and make sure to check out the links at the bottom of the page. Episode Summary Chad first discovered financial importance from a Dave Ramsey book he stumbled across The parts about debt pay off really hit Chad He's still $20k in debt from college After high school, he just did some manual labor while he tried to figure out what to do for college He got half off tuition thanks to his dad's job at Ohio State After college, he couldn't land a job because it was 2009 and the recession was in full swing He didn't rack up any debt from college until he got his masters in 2015 While the job he had did some tuition reimbursement, it still cost him $25k in debt That along with a car and some other loans left him with over $40k worth of debt He continues at this job making under $11 per hour After he got his masters he went to try and get a promotion Unfortunately, they didn't give him any options After six years there he had maxed out at $13.25 an hour and decided to leave He landed a new job and almost doubled his income to just under $50k and in a role where he was more comfortable We asked why he staid at that first job so long unhappy and underpaid For Chad, it was just comfortable and easy but he finally had enough The discussion swapped to how he saves money on this lower-income The biggest thing for him was cooking at home It turned into a full-blown hobby instead of just a money saver He plans to be out of debt in 3-5 years His big goal is to retire before age 55 and hit that $1M mark Chad is also trying to build up side hustles including coaching and writing a book Then we discuss the "poverty-tax" and the importance of an emergency fund Key Takeaways Everyone can benefit from this journey: Chad began this journey on as little as $10.75 per hour and it's changed his life. Your velocity may be different but the impact is still extremely meaningful. We can always help: Although Chad is still working through his debt payoff, he still has a lot to teach other low-income individuals chasing FI. Don't settle for misery: Chad obviously stayed at his first job too long. After 6 years he was still underpaid and forced into positions he hated. Regardless of pay, working in a job you hate is never worth it. Call to Action Start planning some frugal activities and trips. Maybe even take a look at activities you currently do and find a frugal alternative. Join the Community We’d love to hear your comments and questions about this week’s episode. Right off the bat today we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the passing of a good friend of ours and a stalwart of the Washington Redskins beat, Rich Tandler, who sadly passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 63. Hosts Chad Ryan and Mark Phillips share their tributes to a great reporter and an even better person, and remark on how he's been a huge part in both of their respective journeys when it comes to covering the Redskins. For Chad, Rich was the first reporter he ever met. Mark and Rich, however, go back a long time, and they started their radio show together back in 1999 in Richmond VA, both of them brand new to the industry. We then pivot back to football and preview Dallas Cowboys week with friend of the show Lake Lewis, who goes so far as to say that this week's game may be one of the top two most important of Jay Gruden's entire Redskins tenure. Tune in to the podcast to hear why!  Thanks for listening Redskins fans. Hug your loved ones and be good to each other. Celebrate wildly when the Redskins beat Dallas this week.

Chad’s beginnings With over 20 years of broad based experience from global marketing to enterprise sales, Chad learned what he is passionate about. Mentoring, coaching other sales professionals and organizations to get better excite him. The key to his sales success was his training in the ValueSelling Framework 17 years ago where he has stayed in contact with the individuals who did the training and the business they were running. That opportunity influenced him to be a franchisee for the organization. He wants to make sure that he is doing something that he is passionate about - helping other individuals with subject matter that he has some expertise in. Chad’s solution of choice (02:38) Chad’s training 17 years ago, gave him tools that’s not just focused on sales or marketing. The training enlightened him how to do it, how to have value based conversations whether it be for internal alignment in the organization I was in or with prospects or as a way to create personas. He explains that the framework and the methodology that they teach is simple, very easy to understand, very pragmatic and very easy to adopt, that he could coach to it, mentor to it and inspire teams with it. At the same time he could do data analytics from it which made it really his solution of choice. As he became an executive, he thinks that the challenge is to make sure, if you're investing in training your sales or marketing teams, that it's something they're actually going to use and will provide them value. Chad shares that in sales, they want to make sure they're having as many conversations as possible structured in a way that is going to provide the most value to both parties. Their sales framework does not only focus on sales, but also on organizational alignment, marketing, and sales enablement. Breaking down walls in smaller companies (06:02) According to Chad, they provide tool set that gives marketing and sales a common language and a common framework. It enables them to clearly understand each other’s needs. They can get to a point where they understand each other's vision and acknowledge what each party has to bring to the table in order to optimize the revenue generation results. It may take a little while sometimes to master, but it does provide huge dividends for sales and marketing teams, especially when you know there's aggressive growth. Through their value prompter tool, it's very easy for everybody to be on the same page and generate impressive results.   Communication within the team (07:48) Chad talks about the people in the team and their differences. Older and more experienced ones have a lot of perspective through which they view the current marketplace, their current employer, the current sales and marketing landscape. He thinks that people that have been around a little bit longer are struggling at times with the speed at which multichannels evolve and which channels are okay to use. It’s more of the decorum. On the other hand, Chad thinks that millenials or the younger end are very comfortable with technology. For them those touchpoints can stimulate the sense of connectedness that may not be necessary at all times. In order for them to interact more effectively with other people in a business environment, they are equipped with tools the close that age gap and help them, regardless of industry expertise, have more effective conversations with people. Chad mentions that sometimes they need to tweak the tool a little and introduce some technology and how that works. They teach the tools and the frameworks leveraging that technology. He says that at the end of the day, it's all about getting into that common language and framework. Chad discusses a challenge that a lot of their larger global customers have - mix of people. Internally, there may need to be some understanding of what's the standard operating procedure for communications. When people in a team have a framework where they can have a consistent type of conversation, there will be increases in efficiencies and impacts because everybody does their part well. Everybody's on the same page. Building an inner team communication (12:52) Chad says that to be able to facilitate that inner team communication, his team typically uses an online class to give everybody that kind of introduction. Then, they do classroom training where they practice the conversations, the behaviors that are necessary to make it work. The training is participant centered. They engage in activities so that as they're going through the process of implementing the framework, they're starting to see the advantages of it. After the workshop, Chad’s team puts up together some type of reinforcement, coaching or mentoring to make sure the learner has access to the information and the support when and how he needs it. Chad’s team has an extremely integrated learning management system that allows them to pull in video, audio, podcast, content quizzes, gamification, etc., designed in such a way that it's going to be optimal for the team that they will work with. Applying the system in own business (14:20) Chad affirms that they use their sales methodology to sell it. It's a living, breathing approach based on proven formulas and tools that they then are able to bring a timely context too as they implement with clients. For Chad, there's no better way to prove that you really believe in your product unless you apply it in your own business. Dealing with shifts in the market (16:44) As an entrepreneur, Chad always looks for ways to make their team more present when somebody wants them to be where they want them to be, when they want them to be there. He shares that there are new tools and new approaches coming out all the time. Every three to four months, Chad and his team dedicate two or three hours in the afternoon to get together as a group. They share ideas that could be utilized to drive more value for the customer. The goal of their team is to make sure that everything they do provides value for their prospects and customers. Although at times, it’s a little more challenging for the team, they've gotten great feedback from clients on how much they appreciate the availability. Book recommendation (23:00) Creativity, Inc. by Ed Catmull - It's about how the team at Pixar came up with some of their stories like the process they go through to pressure test and brainstorm some of the creative ideas that they come up with. Sales EQ by Jeb Blount - Chad thinks that the concept of being more human and having the ability to increase your emotional awareness is key for anybody, not just in sales. Unfu*k Yourself: Get Out of Your Head and Into Your Life by Gary John Bishop - It’s a self help book for self empowerment and self accountability. So those are the three that when I'm asked, those are the ones I typically will point to because I think they provide a great deal of value in multiple facets of what's required today to be an effective human being.

Chad Kellogg. September 22nd, 1971 to February 14th, 2014. Seattle climbing community legend. Dear friend to many. And the toughest guy around.  "For Chad, not eating and shivering on ledges--that was like skiing powder for him. It was just that fun," remembers Jens Holsten.  Today, we take a look at what gets left behind when someone like Chad leaves us, and what grows in that vacant space.  In part one, we hear from Jens, Chad's climbing partner, good friend and mentee during the final years of his life.  In part two, we follow Ras Vaughan and Gavin Woody as they pick up the torch on a project Chad dreamed up, but never completed: the Rainier Infinity Loop. An idea so grand, it seemed almost inhuman.
