Chad has a great insight of technology. His net worth of sales is amazing. He is very competitive and compassionate about SALES. He gave a wonderful testimony "You will be done." This is a great meaning. Now ALL ABOUT CHAD: In the mid-90's Chad moved from Colorado to Arizona for his first sales role and in under 12 months, Chad was fired. For the past 25 years, he dedicated his life's work to become a true sales professional by joining some of the best companies, and learning from some of the best mentors in the world. As a result, The American Association of Inside Sales Professionals has voted him a Top 25 Inside Sales Leader for the past 10 years, Chad has written 4 books, and Founder of two companies that are both dedicated to enabling sales professionals with the right mindset, skillset, and toolkit to build a successful career in sales. Chad Burmeister - Author, Speaker, Entrepreneur and Technology Company CEO who specializes in Artificial Intelligence for Sales. Chad fundamental belief is that great sales professionals aren't always born as great sellers, and by leveraging AI for Sales Technology, sales professionals with the right DNA for sales can become great sales professionals. When we get this right, pipeline and revenue growth happens. Chad has used this same approach to serve some of today's most influential brands like Cisco-WebEx, Riverbed Technology, ON24, ConnectAndSell, and RingCentral. Before launching ScaleX.ai, Chad found himself constantly moving across the country every 3-4 years to chase the next promotion, or to find a way to make more money, and to be honest, to avoid being let go for lack of performance. Even though he consistently exceeded his quota every single quarter, Chad had a mental block that somehow he would miss his pipeline and revenue target and be let go - an uncomfortable feeling for a husband and father of two. Nowadays, you'll find him speaking a lot on various podcasts and virtual events, and dedicated to bringing the AI for Sales approach to sales professionals to enable them to solve the most important problem in sales - generating enough pipeline to ensure quota achievement. You can find out more about my passion at www.salesclass.ai/chadburmeister ABOUT ScaleX.ai: In the first quarter as a company (Q4/2017), ScaleX signed 5 new customers. By leveraging AI for Sales to add 10 Virtual BDRs who execute email, social, and voicemail drops every day to execute more than 100,000 sales activities per month, ScaleX has grown ARR from $300,000 to $2M in under 2 years. By employing Virtual Business Development Representatives (BDRs) to scale ScaleX, we regularly dominate markets in weeks not months or years. We're now up to 45 new customers per quarter. Sales Reinvented

How do you get better prospecting results? What is the best and easiest way to bring in leads? How do prospecting and lead generation play valuable roles in the sales process? In this episode of Sales Reinvented, Chad Burmeister shares how he pairs innovative thinking with leading technology to get better prospecting results.  Chad Burmeister is the CEO of ScaleX AI which aims to solve salespeople’s pipeline problems. Chad’s goal is to empower sales professionals to become the best version of themselves by focusing on their mindset, skillset, and toolset. Don’t miss his valuable take on the lead generation and prospecting process.  Outline of This Episode [0:51] The difference between prospecting and lead generation [2:08] Why are they important? [3:21] Chad’s perfected prospecting process [5:26] Success relates directly to your level of EQ—not IQ [7:35] Get comfortable being “Iron Man” [8:38] Chad’s top 3 do’s and don’ts [10:48] Why you NEED to be different Why both prospecting and lead generation are valuable Chad sees prospecting as getting a list and making emails, phone calls, or social connections. It’s marketing outward. Lead generation is more along the lines of creating content—like a podcast episode—that you drop out on social channels, email, etc. Prospecting is a brute-force technique and lead generation is finessed.  Chad emphasizes that lead generation is hugely valuable. If you can become your own marketing department and create your own content, you can be a thought leader and expert in your space. You’ll get personal inbound leads to yourself—not just your business. It’s a combination of brute-force and flow of inbound leads.  Chad’s ScaleX prospecting process Chad’s company has perfected the prospecting process. They pull 1,000 leads a month. They then have a virtual assistant execute 3,000–5,000 emails against that list of people. Then they automate social outreach and do 50,000 impressions through paid ads against the same people. They just added the ability to send Vidyard or Loom videos to the top 100 prospects as well. It’s the brute-force prospecting that’s 80% automated and 20% human-driven.  For Chad, the lead generation process means jumping into a monthly meeting where he records video for an hour plus. That one video gets chopped into 60 to 90-second segments that get pushed out onto his social channels. That alone brings in 2–3 leads a day.  Success relates directly to your level of EQ—not IQ Chad points out that the level of success you have prospecting relates directly to your level of EQ—not IQ. When you’re selling to a certain part of the market, what are their triggers? What is their emotional process? It needs to be natural for your audience to understand. Park Howell teaches a simple process: You set the context, then you use “and” to raise the stakes, then “but”, and “therefore.” You can use this for anything you’re selling. It’s a simple approach to mapping your audience to your solution. You have to put out content that hits home and gets people to take a specific action. Chad shares a specific example—listen to hear him drive the point home. How do you get better results? Be different. At the beginning of the pandemic, one of Chad’s customers called him. One of the companies she did PR for was ordered to switch their apparel production over to mask production. So they printed 100 million masks and sold them all to Amazon in one week. She knew she could continue to do well from a commission perspective. So she asked Chad to help her come up with an approach for selling masks.  So they got together and recorded a 43-second voicemail. They then pulled a list of 1,200 heads of procurement from Fortune 2,000 companies and left them voicemails for 2 days straight. She got 3–5 returned calls per hour. 70% of the time they didn't even listen to the message but still called back. What Chad learned is that you have to get the right person on the phone. Wondering how you can ramp up your truck driver recruitment? Have you considered using sales automation software that’s delightfully human? Yes, you read that right - sales software to solve your driver recruitment problem. One of Chad’s favourite things is to bring in people from outside the trucking industry, and today’s guest offers a refreshingly different perspective, potentially giving you the edge on your competition.  Chad Burmeister (yes, another Chad) is founder and CEO of ScaleX.ai. And while his focus isn’t on the trucking industry, that doesn’t mean his software can’t help you recruit drivers.  “Our goal is to help sales professionals increase revenue by focusing on the only two things that matter in sales – increasing frequency and competency.” So how can sales software help you recruit more drivers? And what can you do with the data that comes with it? How can you message potential drivers? What channels should you use? And how can an algorithm help you rank candidates? “Most customers use our platform to prospect into their top clients. When it comes to recruiting, we're helping these companies to get a list of potential recruits.” To find out more, download and listen to this latest episode. Meet Chat:   Chad is a Believer, Husband, Father of two teenagers, and lifelong rebel and rule-breaker. He empowers sales professionals to become the best version of themselves by focusing on their mindset, skillset, and toolkit. Before launching ScaleX.ai and Salesclass.ai, Chad believed that sales were fundamentally “a numbers” game. Although he still believes frequency matters, he is now convinced that Revenue = Frequency X Competency. Chad is passionate about creating systems that empower people from all walks of life and these days you’ll find him hosting the AI for Sales Webinar and Podcast on The Sales Experts Channel and C-Suite Radio.   Let's talk about sales a little bit, specifically AI for sales. What is it and how does it help or hurt that relationship when it comes to conducting business?   Yeah, it's an accelerator. So AI for sales stands for artificial intelligence. I, in fact, wrote the book called AI For Sales, How Artificial Intelligence is Changing Sales. I put that out at the end of 2019 and there have already been more than 5000 copies sold. So it's a hot topic, as you know, as people use their Alexa device to order food and groceries. Then all kinds of AI are coming out. I think a lot of people don't realize they're using AI in a lot of cases, but it's becoming more and more prevalent. So it can help or hurt your relationships, I'll give you an example: If you use an AI bot, let's say to connect with people on LinkedIn and social media if you program that bot to be extremely cheesy, non-heartfelt, and all you care about is yourself and let's say you move from five or six requests a day to connect with people up to 50 a day. Well, now you're at 10x the amount of insincerity. Whereas if you're someone like Nick Kabuto, who I've partnered with, on the marketing side, he sends out a message that starts with a clapping emoji and it says, "Hey, I've looked at your profile, you look like a really interesting person. I'd love to truly and sincerely get to know you." And that's it. Then when he gets a reply, he'll go in on his LinkedIn, and he'll do a video and go, "Hey, I'm Nick, I'm sitting at the fire pit," or, "I'm up in the mountains skiing," or whatever it is he's doing, he'll reply back. So it can accelerate trust and social capital, or it can completely rip it apart. You just have to be careful and learn from other people who use the technology in an effective and efficient way.   What are some ways that you use AI to connect more deeply with others?   Well, revenue equals frequency times competency is what a mentor of mine taught me 20 years ago, Skip Miller, who's been training sales and sales leaders for so long. So the frequency part is easy: Do More. More emails, more voicemails, more calls, etc. The competency part takes a while. So for me early in my sales career 25 years ago, I didn't have the competency yet. I'd never been through any sales training and so AI can accelerate the pace at which you connect with people through all the different channels. It's important that as you go, that you're investing an equal amount of time in understanding what it is you're saying and how you're connecting with people. So I think what happens is that AI puts more stress on the human to human relationship, then has typically been there from a sales capacity perspective. So interesting times that we're entering in today's day and age.   So the automated connections on LinkedIn, at least the ones that I can tell, I find really annoying. But what you're saying really is you have to have a strong message that's extremely personal, or at least looks like it.   Big time. It's at the end of the day, whether I physically type a message one to one, or I do one too many, it's still a string of zeros and ones, right? It's an email, it's a LinkedIn connection request, it's a LinkedIn follow up. If you have a high EQ (emotional intelligence), I think EQ starts to beat IQ in today's day and age. Hmm. So would you rather have someone with high EQ write the message or someone fresh out of college that's never really had experience communicating on a b2b type of platform? We're finding it's better to leverage someone who has the EQ piece of the equation to help you write the email message, the social connection. And where it's going is there are tools like codebreaker technologies, which is they have a thing called bank code. They can log into your LinkedIn account, click a button, and in under three seconds, tell you what your DNA makeup is and what your communication and buying style is. Are you very action-oriented, are you knowledge, are you blueprint? There's a different letter stand for each different word in the end what we're talking about. So imagine a world where you send an email to a list of people and depending on that list, it'll change the message based on who the buyer is, and their buyer personality type. It'd be very hard for humans to actually get their arms around the different variations of people where AI can actually start to do those human to human connections in a much better way at scale.   What's the vision for your life heading into the future?   Yeah, um, you know, the first I feel like I'm on hole nine on the golf course. So the good news is, I've got another nine to go. , and the great news is the first nine were amazing! So now it's, what do you do next and how do you impact the greatest number of people? My grandparents were big in the church, and they did a lot of one on one meetings with people and they would give, give, give, all the way up to the end, and I so respected and appreciated that. I've been given the gift of running a business and motivating and leading very large teams. So what came to me over the course of the last just couple of months, we're gonna write a book called God-Centered Selling, and then God-Centered Company, and God-Centered Leadership. It's not a book on how to sell, and it's not a book on necessarily how to be a good follower of God. It's how do you put those two things together, and make ethical, good person decisions when it comes to all aspects. So we want to put the book together first, and then hold executive retreats at a mountain house. We want to start bringing ethics and spirituality into companies where traditionally, I feel like until the year 2020, that was kind of a faux pas. Nowadays that's what we're working on, how to be good people and influence others in a positive way.   Can you share with our listeners, one of your favorite networking experiences that you've had?   Yeah, you know, when we talk about leveraging social outreach and social automation, that's how we got connected. I have a virtual assistant that reaches out to about, I actually had to peel it back because I was reaching out to 50 people a day at first. About 50% of everyone I reached out to said, "Yeah, your podcast looked good," or, "You look like a good guest." So, you know, typically, I invite people to be on my show called AI For Sales and I was getting six to eight people a week who wanted to be on the show. So we're recorded all the way through January now. So, Nick, my marketer said, "You know, you're good at talking to people, why don't you just reach out to podcast hosts and, and have a conversation?" So I literally just started this effort, maybe six weeks ago, and I've already been on at least two dozen different podcasts. So talk about a way to network!   So let's talk about nurturing your network. It's definitely important to maintain connections and doing that from an AI perspective versus the manual process,  how do you stay in front of and best nurture your community?   Yeah, that's, that's always been important to me and it's been one of my strengths. So I'll have connections from five companies ago, and I'll still stay in touch with them. Before this pandemic hit, I was on the road quite a bit, at least one week a month, if not, sometimes two. One of the practices that I'll use is if I'm on a bus, or a train going from place to place or an airplane, airplanes a little harder make a phone call, but you get my drift. In the Avis rent a car, for example, I'll scroll through the phone, and I'll go A down, and then sometimes I'll go Z up. This is the manual approach and I'll just click, click, click, and I'll go, "I haven't talked to Stephen a long time," and I'll just call him to leave a message. I think a lot of people don't necessarily proactively reach out to their network unless they need something. I don't like to be that guy, I like to keep tabs on what people are doing and stay in touch. From an automation perspective, our company has been primarily focused on top of funnel demand gen for almost three years. We're just starting to get some customers who say, "Hey, you know, what, you've automated email and phone and social, but how can you help us automate more of our client success function, especially for our high velocity, or high volume, low yielding customers?" Right, so if you think 80-20 rule, 80%, your customers make up 20% of your revenue, and vice versa. So how do you handle the bottom 80? Well, imagine if you could set it up and have an automated voicemail drop 90 days before renewal, you could you can automate that. Where it gets really interesting is you can actually do videos in an automated fashion. So imagine a video art video or loom are the two big ones, and you record 90% of it the same across customers. So let's say it's a renewal of this one product, and all they bought is that one product, yet your company offers six products. So you could send out an email in an automated fashion and then you could drop in their name at the beginning or even a company name. You can almost merge video segments into this video clip. We've seen b2c companies do it, and we're starting to dabble in bringing that over into the b2b world.   What advice would you offer the business professionals looking to grow their network?   LinkedIn is huge, but I would say it depends. There's a woman named Katie, who spoke at the event I mentioned in Winter Park two weeks ago, she talked about Instagram, and she helps mothers and women who have kids and work at home to allow them to work fewer hours, and then make between six and seven figures. So she showed us how to do a proper Instagram post, where she literally walked around the living room, she recorded herself in a selfie-and Instagram was able to chunk it down into a 15-second bite. Then she typed over the top of it the speech to text. She did all this in under 10 minutes, and I was like, wow, just the way you do the message, the network. That's available on LinkedIn, they have a new thing called stories, or Instagram has their approach. Obviously, Facebook has a different set of followers, but use social tools and understand who you are as a person. Don't be afraid to be authentic and vulnerable, you have to dig deep inside to figure out where your weak points are, and then don't be afraid to expose them because guess what? Everybody in the world is not perfect. So be vulnerable, be authentic, and use the platforms to get your message out.   If you could go back to your 20-year-old self, what would you tell yourself to do more or less of or differently with regards to your professional career?   I would have hired a coach earlier because it took me until about a year and a half ago to realize that a coach was essential. It was when I was driving around a racetrack in a Ferrari in Southern California and there was a coach, or a professional driver in the front seat, who was speaking in my ear Tell me when to speed up when to shift. I was like wait a second! If you know how to drive a car, think of the types of people that could help you with your finances, or how to grow, or how to do marketing or, anything you can even think of you can bring someone in that's an expert in that field. So now I have nine coaches a year and a half after I did that Ferrari racetrack drive.   Do you have any final word or advice to offer our listeners with regards to growing and supporting your network?   Well, I would say to give an offer. So what I would say the offer to you, if you're listening to this podcast, and someone said they need to reach out to more people, I really feel compelled to help entrepreneurs and solopreneurs make it through these hard times. Traditionally, we work with $7,000 to $10,000 a month customers, and with our social tool, it's $500 a month. So it's much more attainable for me and you and anyone. The offer would be a three-month trial program. It's $2000, $500 setup, $500 a month, and if I don't get you 100 replies from people that you want to be interacting with, then you get all your money back because I've just seen it work. So if you want to get on podcasts, perfect, we have a way we can help you get your word out and get on podcasts. If you want to get new customers and they are a certain target market, you build a report and LinkedIn, you build a message, you click the Go button, set it and forget it and you get a lot of inbound leads. That’s really me giving back to the community and that would be my offer to anybody.   Connect with Chad:   Email: chad@scalex.ai   Download Chad’s books: https://www.scalex.ai/ebooks

How to Master the Negotiation Process with Chad Burmeister, Ep #201

Sales Reinvented

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 8, 2020 16:30

The negotiation process isn’t always easy for a salesperson to navigate. But mastering the process is paramount to your success. The bottom line: if you can’t negotiate well you won’t fare well in anything you do in life. In this episode of Sales Reinvented, Chad Burmeister joins me to talk about some of the parts of the negotiation process that salespeople shy away from—and how to change it.  Chad Burmeister is the Founder and CEO of ScaleX.ai, which promises to deliver an “unfair competitive advantage” by helping your salespeople increase lead frequency and sales competency. He is the author of multiple books, including AI for Sales and Sales Hack. Don’t miss his stellar insight on the negotiation process.  Outline of This Episode [1:29] Our lives are built on negotiation  [1:59] Salespeople aren't comfortable discussing money [4:45] How to master the negotiation process [6:29] Salespeople need to understand the customers’ problem [7:58] Chad’s favorite negotiation closing technique [8:55] Chad’s FUN acronym [11:15] How one negotiation changed Chad’s life The importance of negotiation Chris Voss was the first to make the phrase “everything is a negotiation” popular—and for good reason. Chad points out that nearly everything we do involves negotiation. When you make a purchase, engage in a conversation, or play with your kids, some sort of negotiation is involved. Chad points out that it’s well worth any monetary investment to go from a ‘C’ level negotiator to an ‘A+’. Perhaps that change in status means more bookings, more revenue—maybe even fame and fortune. Whatever it is you’re trying to achieve in life can be benefitted from mastering negotiation.  Understand that the negotiation process means you’ll talk about Money The Objective Management Group has studied close to two million salespeople and found that only 54% are comfortable discussing money. A salesperson NEEDS to be able to comfortably discuss money in the negotiation process—yet most can’t stomach it. Chad sees that as one of the biggest roadblocks to a successful negotiation.  Chad notes that the discomfort associated with discussing money is often associated with the way you were raised. Did your family have money? Were they savers or spenders? Did they avoid discussing money at all? If you can understand your money mindset and buying pattern, you can learn how to master this part of the negotiation process.  Instead of letting a prospect walk away to “look at other vendors” you have to be comfortable pointing out what you discussed. “I thought we’ve discussed your priorities and requirements? You’ll save a million and increase sales by 5.4 million. Why do you need to look at the other vendors?” Chad shares another story about haggling in Mexico that drives the point home—so keep listening.  Roleplay the negotiation process When Chad completed his MBA, he took a class on power, politics, and negotiation. They spent a lot of time role-playing negotiations. Roleplaying in class with other students was the catalyst he needed to learn the negotiation process inside and out.  Aside from consistent practice, Chad recommends taking a class or reading a book—you can even play poker. Learning the art of poker is a great way to learn how to see people’s tells, when they’re exaggerating, etc.  Chad also believes you need to master closing techniques. Instead of “let’s schedule our next step meeting” at the end of a meeting, ask “If I could... would you…?” You’re essentially giving them an option to voice any objections they have to closing the deal in that meeting.  To hear more of Chad’s advice—including his thoughts on gap selling—keep listening! How Chad’s negotiation process changed his life Chad’s second job out of college was with Airborne Express. He had set up a meeting with Uhaul about some packages they had been shipping with USPS They were shipping packages of license plates for $4.50. The Uhaul would meet the USPS truck in whichever state the plates were to be delivered. They send 12,000 of these a month. 10% of the time, the USPS truck didn’t make it in time and the license plates got shipped back. So Chad took the time to dig and find out the impact of the 10% of trucks that were missed. Other than being fined, every once and a while a cop would sometimes pull over Uhaul trucks with expired plates and make them empty the contents from one truck into another. So with the fines, he calculated Uhaul was spending $5.87 to ship the new license plates. Airborne typically charged $6 to ship, but he offered to do it at $5 and demonstrated the total cost of ownership that would save Uhaul money.  Chad won the account—1,000 shipments a month. Then he won the Canadian account, which was 2,000 shipments a month. He went on to become the #1 salesperson at Airborne. Eventually, he got recruited away to a job in southern California where he met his wife and started his family—all because of the outcome of ONE negotiation.  Listen to the whole episode of Sales Reinvented for Chad’s insight on the negotiation process. Revenue = frequency x competency is one way that Chad Burmeister measures productivity. You have to be able to do more in a shorter period of time—you must increase your frequency. Over time, as you gain experience and focus on frequency, your competency will grow. This increases productivity and therefore increase revenue. Chad and Paul discuss this topic in-depth in this episode of Sales Reinvented. Chad is the founder and CEO of ScaleX.ai—ScaleX leverages artificial intelligence and sales automation to automate up to 75% of sales reps tasks so that they can focus on higher-value work. He is the author of multiple Sales Hack books and a recently published book about AI for sales. Chad is passionate about helping sales professionals crush their quotas and increase revenue. Outline of This Episode [0:57] Chad Burmeister’s definition of productivity [2:55] The reality of effective sales professionals [4:48] Steps to balance the equation [9:10] Attributes of a great salesperson [11:30] Chad’s favorite productivity tools [19:17] A story you can learn from  Are salespeople really less productive?  The prevailing statistic is that approximately 50% of sales professionals are hitting their quotas. Chad believes this isn’t accurate. He points out that finance departments are usually the ones setting the quotas for sales professionals to reach. Have they set the bar too high? Are they setting unrealistic expectations? Chad points out that it takes ⅔ the amount of people to drive 1 billion in revenue compared to 5 years ago. They are actually ⅓ more productive! There are technologies in place that helps salespeople become more efficient and effective. In the long run, he doesn’t think sales pros are less productive—he thinks unrealistic quotas are manipulating the numbers. Improving productivity is still possible While Chad believes the bar is being set too high for quotas, there is always room for improving the productivity of a salesperson. He states that the average seller executes 50-60 sales activities per day—but that baseline can be improved.  There is a lot of noise in selling. So much so that in the last two years alone, it now takes 10x more sales touches to book a meeting. To increase revenue, you need frequent meetings to make a sale. How can that be done? Chad points out that email marketing is proving to be ineffective, with an average response rate of 0.5-3%. Social selling fares much better, with an 8-12% engagement rate. Ultimately, he believes phone calls are having a resurgence and is still one of the most effective ways to connect with your prospect.  Getting on the phone with your prospect is the hardest part. This is where Chad recommends agent-assisted dialing. You initiate the dial, and a combination of software and human intervention navigates you to the person you need to connect with. Keep listening to find out why Chad believes this helps increase productivity.  What attributes make a productive salesperson?  According to Chad, a high-achieving salesperson has to perform at a better level than anyone else. He shares a story about an athlete who made Presidents Club three years in a row. He was a football player used to being pushed to do better and be better than the competition. He took that mindset into his sales position and blew his sales team out of the park.  He did so by learning tricks and tactics that set him apart from the competition—and didn’t share them with anyone else. One of the tools he used was agent-assisted dialing. He would come to the office early and initiate calls on the East Coast and drive 1,000 calls to someone else's 100.  Chad points out a simple tip to live by: know the metrics of your team and focus on increasing your frequency. Statistically speaking, more phone calls equals more conversations. And as you increase your conversations, your competency soars. Your revenue should increase. But it all starts with a willingness to do more than everyone else.  Revenue = Frequency x Competency: Tools that help you balance the equation  Chad is a firm believer that you must embrace the technology available to you and leverage it in a way that benefits you. It’s a given that everyone should have a good CRM. But what else does he think you need? LinkedIn Navigator: 90% of companies use this tool, and it should be 100%. It helps you build and nurture customer relationships on LinkedIn.  Agent-Assisted Dialing: Getting someone on the phone can be a monotonous process. Making calls that an $8 an hour worker could do is wasting your time, so he recommends outsourcing it.  BDR.ai (or another similar program): Something that executes social sales activities to allow you to focus elsewhere. Calendly or Chili Piper: Gone are the days of emailing back and forth to lock down a meeting. These tools simplify the process of connecting with your prospect.  FlowEngine.ai or Get The Lead: help find leads, ranks who you should reach out to, and even helps you gauge what to say to the leads.  Chad is passionate about what he does. How Can I Use AI To Increase Sales? Have you ever thought to use AI to increase sales? In today's society, the application of AI is apparent throughout many industries, including sales. 27% of global consumers say that AI can deliver better service than humans, 38% believe AI will soon improve customer service, and 73% of global consumers  are willing to utilize AI if it makes their lives easier.  Chad Burmeister is a cofounder of  Sales Ex Inc. Their company is rooted in the idea that AI can increase revenue, eliminate repetition, and make selling more efficient and effective.  Growing up, Chad had always been at the cutting edge of technology and was always looking for ways to make people's lives more efficient.  Chad is officially releasing his book, AI for Sales, this Thanksgiving, November 28th along with Stu Heinecke's Get the Meeting. If you buy both books on Amazon and send them a screenshot, you'll get a dozen VIP conference codes for next year to attend events such as Sales 3.0 and AISP. With the codes, you'll get a20% - 85% discount.. Chad is encouraging everyone to read the books and meet the authors at the conferences.  Use AI to increase sales  Chad has seven virtual sellers who are commissioned salespeople. The team has set up a daily data poll for these virtual sellers with a company called Lead 411. The data is fed into their CRM and the CRM goes through their email bot, a virtual assistant named Marissa Brown. They create preconfigured emails that filter through these virtual assistants so multiple batches of  emails can be sent every day. The AIs are preprogrammed to have a “conversation” akin to what you see on a chat feature. When a person responds, the AIs can communicate with the prospects. The chatbots can also set up meetings and appointments. The AIs chatbots are configured to know when to schedule an appointment. It knows when you're out of the office or if you have time for a meeting.  One simple questions has about a thousand variations, such as the cost of a service or a product. The AI knows what to listen for and offers a very simple answer. It then replies with the cost, along with a link to your calendar so the prospect can set up a meeting.  As the business owner, you need to teach the AI to respond in a way that gets the highest level of conversion. If you are a BDR (Business Developer Representative)assigned to pulling data from a CRM and pushing the send button, then your job might be in jeopardy. However, most BDRS are doing more than just pulling data. They are also pulling relevant lists, and doing research. Additional tasks include figuring out which people to send emails to, writing a good email, and leaving a voicemail as needed.BDRs are responsible for a complex system of outreach.  Setting appointments via AI  Chad's tools called BDR.AI executes 50 to 100 connection requests per day through LinkedIn and  gets over 100 emails a day on the same platform.  By using this software, they get five to fifteen meetings a month.  As a result, the organization can work more efficiently. The AI allows  the BDR more time to do other tasks. This would include getting on the phone to connect with people personally. This enables them to understand their customer's needs and show a more personal interest to the prospects. The tools let the bots and humans do what they do best.  In Sales, AIs can let you do more with less. #SalesTechnology Tokyo, for example, pushed a 4-day work week and the results have shown about  40% increase in productivity. That increase can be attributed to the use of AI in their respective industries.  Salespeople can do more with their day than just sitting in their offices,  making appointments and making calls. They can now spend time with their families or take the Friday off to just improve their quality of life.  The downside of AIs In the virtual world, somebody always gets to play God. Let's consider the trolley car example and put yourself in the conductor's shoes. As you're going down the tracks, there are five people on the right side and one person on the left. You can't stop the train so you have to pick a side to do an emergency stop.. Many people would say to choose the left to minimize the damage. However, let's say the  five people are wearing an orange jumpsuit and the one on the left is your child. In this scenario there are many solutions and a million points of data to consider.. Mathematician Chris Beal says it would take a very long time before we could put all that information in the system. He further added that the AI can only get to a certain point and then it's up to us to make the final decision.  We tend to let the bots make the decision for us but think of the trolley dilemma. In hiring, the bot would go to the more qualified candidate. But who really determines the qualification? In small companies, a decision like this is easy. It's much more efficient to get a bot who can do a better job at a lesser cost. The same isn't true for bigger companies where more political decisions are involved.  Chad believes that there will be a need for people to help   companies make decisions about the ethical use and deployment of AIs.  AIs assist sellers AIs are helpful but you need to assess where they can be of help.. It's imperative to know your top three pains to be able to find the right solutions. A lot of companies get their lists wrong the first time because they fail to consider their ideal customer profile.  Always go for your target list to get the right people and give these list to your reps. This keeps them from wasting their time looking for unqualified prospects.  Joe, the head of product from Inside View, says they can go into companies,  and take a look at theirCRM to analyze all the closed deals Their best customer profiles are revealed after analyzing the transactions that have already happened.  These customers renew, they purchase when upselling is offered, and they pay on time. On the other side of the coin are the clients who don't pay and don't renew. Your goal as a sales company is to go after the best customers. This is the area of AI that helps companies grow. It's the ability to look at data and change the trajectory of the organization by leading sales reps to the right customers.  Salesdirector.AI is doing a great job of utilizing AI to improve its sales force. Their bots send messages by text and ask a series of questions pertaining to your sales schedules and appointments.  AIs are programmed to be efficient. It can go through huge amounts of data using a  fraction of the time. By using AI, you can give your salespeople the tasks that they can focus on such as building trust and rapport as well as building human to human connections.  “How Can I Use AI To Increase Sales?” episode resources Reach out to Chad at SCALEX.AI. Chad Burmeister   Chad Burmeister, the CEO of ScaleX.AI is our guest today. ScaleX.AI delivers Sales Acceleration, Powered by Artificial Intelligence. Chad is an expert in building high-velocity sales teams at companies including Cisco-WebEx, Riverbed Technology, ON24, ConnectAndSell, and RingCentral.  Chad was voted Top 25 Most Influential Inside Sales Professional by the AA-ISP 7 years in a row (2010 – 2016) and continues to be at the forefront of inside sales and high-velocity selling strategy & execution.   What is ScaleX.AI? Provides sales acceleration software and services powered by artificial intelligence to help sales teams 10x the number of sales activities that they do on a daily/weekly/monthly basis typically resulting in a 2x revenue impact The business result that our customers see is 10x more sales touches (more emails, more dials and more social touches)   Why did Chad start ScaleX.AI? (1:52) He saw over the last 10 years that things evolve in technology Decided that it was time to bring artificial intelligence to sales. Now you can leverage artificial intelligence to enhance what resources are able to do to get a 10x multiplier   When did Chad see the opportunity? (3:07) The challenge was when you start to deploy technology and people's systems process. The toughest part is that the generation of salespeople is used to doing digital texts and emails rather than phone conversations. A lot of the reps were spending a lot of time on things that don't matter. Set out to collapse time involved while still being personal.   In their first quarter they drove over $350k in sales.  That's when he knew they'd stumbled on to something that is very important for sales people and companies.   Bad sales activities (6:09) It's not wrong activities, it’s just that they should be doing them more efficiently Invest the time to approach somebody with a level of depth in your in your A accounts. If you have hundreds or thousands of potential prospects in a region or across the country then you can’t take the time to send those five bullets every single time. Now that so many people have moved to digital communications it really has left open the phone conversations. If you can bring phone activity to the process,  75% of meetings come from phone conversations not from e-mail and social   Best Practices (8:48) Agent assisted dialing gets you through gatekeepers and can get you right the decision maker It actually speeds up the process and therefore it also means you have to be good in other areas. They turn to a company called Qwilr that integrate to salesforce. It's all self-contained and instead of spending hours post phone conversation, now you just send a link to the prospect within five minutes and you're off to the nextcall They automate the agent assisted dialing so a rep can drive 250 - 500 dials in a day. The e-mail personalization technology -  it looks at the recipient, it looks at the sender and it writes the first two sentences on behalf of the rep. This bot has seen 100 million personalized e-mails go out in the past three years and knows exactly which ones get the best reply. So automating the e-mail personalization is the next order of magnitude increase that they see. All of this software organizes and helps you know when to send e-mails, when to make calls, what to say.   There are tools that help you improve your actions inside LinkedIn. From sending connection requests to sending another note 3 days later as a follow up.   They integrate two Sales Force as the primary CRM. Most clients do have a CRM and want them to integrate into that CRM.   Companies who don't have CRM can still do business because they're able to manage much of the outbound prospecting process without a CRM. However in an ideal world you know most clients especially arefunded startup or a publicly traded company you're going to have a CRM and it doesmake the program just that much better than it is without a CRM awesome.   Who is the ideal customer? (16:39) Funded startups and publicly traded companies who invest in a lot of leads and just can't get them called or emailed or connected with socially fast enough are the ideal customers.   How do we build our team correctly? (19:05) There are pieces of the program that you can leverage that will bring you huge lift to go get your first several dozen customers. Encourage companies to look at Sales Loft, Outreach.  They give you a very good footprint of how to do your cadence. The piece that's been missing is the plug in and that is the scaleX 1-click personalization plug in. It gives you a double in your open rates and typically a three to five times better reply rate. The second thing is investing in the automated agent assisted dialing. There's a simple app that's available for download it's called LinkedIn helper.   ScaleX awards (23:37) Top 20 sales management application of the year because this technology gives managers a better ability to understand what all the activities are happening by their sales team Top 50 tech companies by the Silicon Valley review in the Bay Area.   Chad’s book recommendation The Lost Art of Closing by Anthony Iannarino This book is about a different approach to selling geared to the new technological and social realities of our time.  The key is to lead customers through a series of necessary steps designed to prevent a purchase stall. The book will change the way you think about closing, and your clients will appreciate your ability to help them achieve real change and real results.
