An absolute honour to share this conversation with Gavin Mitchell, who many know will know as Boaby the Barman from Still Game, but that is a very small part of his incredible journey. From a rough working class upbringing he got into acting and comedy and it was an absolute honour as he joined me on an early incarnation of You Call That Radio TV in the early days of lockdown. There was a few technical issues early on in the live show, that Gavin used as platform for a political and educational rant about what was really going on in the world. This has been the most requested interview to be repurposed for the podcast and despite the time that has passed , Gavin hits the nail on the head multiple times and considering the confusion of the time, it shows how truly on the ball he was , and still is because most of us are still in lockdown , and despite the fact most of us can get a haircut and a freezing outdoor pint, people still vote tory. Enjoy his view on the shambles that was 2020 and hear about what inspired him to become one of Scotland's greatest actors. Support You Call That Radio at http://patreon.com/YouCallThatRadio or check out our fancy new website at http://YouCallThat.Com . I first seen him on the comedy sketch show Velvet Soup, He also was an important part of Monarch of the Glen and and has appeared in sitcoms Empty, Happy Hollidays and You Instead. On stage, Mitchell has played the male lead in Casablanca: The Gin Joint Cut, a spoof of the Humphrey Bogart film Casablanca, which has appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe. And toured Britain, Paris and Barbados. And the record breaking run of 51 shows of ‘Still Game’ live at the Glasgow Hydro, to some 510,000 people.A true legend who is also an integral part of the music scene where he inducted David Bowie into the Barrowland Hall of Fame on a memorable night that my band The Girobbaies were luckily to be involved with. He also recently expertly hosted Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5's new album album launch for 'The Difficult Number 2' . He also played a recurring character in crime drama The Field of Blood. He appeared in two episodes of series 7 of the children's adventure series M.I. High, in which he also voiced The Mastermind, taking over from Brian Cox. He can currently be seen playing Grand Duke Sergei in Netflix's ‘The Last Czars’. The Jackal Trades album that was mentioned drops on June 1st 2021 and can be pre-ordered at http://jackaltrades.bandcamp.com Original picture by Martin Windebank Photography Mastered, edited and Produced by Morphamish

That's right - we've only just gone and made another musical! A Place To Hang Your Cape is celebrating its 8th anniversary with a brand-new musical on its podcast, PodCapers. "Scottpoint", a sequel to last year's "Scott's Adventures in Disney Land", finds intrepid PodCapers host Scott learning the hard way that nothing good comes from messing with time travel. During a questionable journey to the past, Scott accidentally sets off a chain of events that puts the entirety of geek fandom in jeopardy. To put things right, Scott must go on a wild adventure through space and time - all set to an "original" Disney-inspired soundtrack. "Scottpoint" is written, produced, and directed by Scott James Meridew, who also stars in the lead role. Scott's unique voice is sure to entertain in this hilarious new adventure. Listeners to last year's musical will once again recognise the voices of the AP2HYC Senior Team - David Molofsky, Fred McNamara, Mark Russell, and Kit Horsley. AP2HYC writer and former Sugar Red Drive lead singer Archit Tripathi is also lending his renowned vocal talents to bring the villainous Hater to life. Rounding out the cast are friends from our extended #PodernFamily, including The Jock and Nerd Podcast and The Deleted Scene Podcast. The AP2HYC team have a lot to celebrate this year. Early in the year, we started a new internship program, Capers XP, partnering with several universities to create an opportunity for students and graduates to get real world experience on a digital product. This summer, AP2HYC held its 4th annual TV Awards, which not only had over 14,000 votes from fans around the world, but also had several nominees join in to tweet about the various categories. And of course, our podcast PodCapers has continued to grow! While our 8th year may be drawing to a close, we still have some big ideas left for 2018 and beyond. I'm so excited to finally share this interview, I almost don't care that it sounds like crap. Sam and I discuss stand-up comedy, working on a sitcom, and the creative writing process.Check out the Mix & Master channel on YouTube to see the pilot episode of Mix & Master, plus various extra videos and skits including Engineering the Truth with Sam's character Gavin Mitchell (which you heard at the end of this episode).I sadly do not have any dates for Sam's future stand-up gigs, but when I do I will definitely be tweeting about it.--Music:"George Street Shuffle"Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/"Engineering the Truth: Episode 1 - Sharks" was reproduced with permission from Poorductions.
