EPISODE 124 | One of Our Aircraft Is Missing A look at a few outstanding cases of plane crashes and disappearances, commercial flights that have gone awry, and some of the weirdness surrounding those mishaps. And, of course, the ones we'll look at have had conspiracy theories spun about them. This episode is dedicated to my godson, Vova (or Rusty, as we call him), because he absolutely loves commercial aircraft. Dave Fielding is a Captain for British Airways and Chair of the International Peer Assist Aviation Coalition.Dave highlights some pretty stark facts in this interview. For instance, what do you think is the second highest cause of fatality in western registered aircraft? It's pilot murder suicide. In this episode we discuss how the crash of Germanwings Flight 9525 changed the nature of how pilot mental health is approached, the need for harmonized aviation mental health and medical regulations worldwide, and initiatives which Dave has led to make the sector safer and more supportive.
This episode, Sarah and Joseph discuss the emotional aftermath of the Germanwings Flight 9525 crash.

Andreas Lubitz suffered from depression but that diagnosis could have ended his career as a pilot. He hid his condition from his employer until it took over and caused him to end 150 lives. Airline safety has evolved in many ways over the years, and, particularly since 9/11 keeping the bad guy from taking control of an airplane has been paramount. On March 24, 2015, Germanwings Flight 9525 went down over the French Alps. But it wasn't mechanical failure or bad weather which brought down the doomed flight. It was an entirely different kind of tragic.
In Season 3 Episode 33 the girls start 2021 off with a Murders on Airplanes theme….which does nothing to help with Holly's fear of flying. Holly starts off with murderer Yuji Nishizawa (‘All Nippon Airways’ Flight 61) who was very safety conscious and Gemma follows up with the scary story of Andreas Lubitz and Germanwings Flight 9525.Future Gemma and Holly were hoping for some good vibes – week one of 2021 pretty much took care of those, Hollys focused murderer really did try to save lives as well…. sort of, Gemma loses all ability to podcast at the end…she’s totally broken and then Holly gets lost in her choice. Production, recording and post production completed by Producer Craig who was just as broken as Gemma this episode. Gemma edited this week. All complaints should be sent directly to Producer Craig who owes Holly some calming tea after this recording. www.whichmurderer.com WARNING - Explicit language, content and themes (plus whatever else will cover us legally). Beyond just talking about rabbits shitting outside their cages, in this episode of The Future Is A Mixtape, Jesse & Matt will provide a sustained analysis on Michael Moore's Where to Invade Next. Not only was this the finest documentary released in 2015, but the film is Michael Moore's magnum opus without parallel or peer in his storied and fecund oeuvre. After shooting and releasing a misshapen and badly organized documentary Capitalism: A Love Story in 2009, it seemed that the director had lost his vision or was in some sleepy and lonesome lull. But it's important to remember that the same lull in vision during his early career with Canadian Bacon (1995) and The Big One (1997) also appeared right before his breakout films, Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11. By going invisible for six years after the release Capitalism: A Love Story, shooting in ‘secret locations' unknown to anyone, Michael Moore came back fully revitalized and more sophisticated in his rhetoric and tactics of persuasion, by rejecting partisanship and labels in order to reveal why other countries just simply do it better when it comes to solving daunting societal problems, such as work-stress, malnutrition, K-12 educational failures, student debt, work-life balance, drug addiction, prisons, as well as the loss of women's rights and demanding government reforms. Jesse & Matt hope to tell you why Where to Invade Next is so vital to revving up America's rudderless drift. They will also describe why the film's uses of framing and persuasion are worth stealing--especially given the left's tragic history at winning anything of lasting consequence amidst the Drum & Death March of Neoliberalism. 7 Words – Luke 23:46: We've been shocked and saddened by the tragic loss of 150 souls in the Germanwings Flight 9525 tragedy. How does that happen? How can one man plan such a devastating act? We've been horrified by the final thoughts of those innocent passengers ... their screams for help when they began to realize what was happening. Final words are important for all of us to consider. Theirs are difficult to fathom. We can only hope and pray that for many of them, their final thoughts were prayers to God. As we enter into the Passion Week, we find ourselves nearing the conclusion of our study of Jesus' final words. This week's word from the cross is another prayer. Jesus once again teaches us how to live well and how to die well. In many ways, I'm convinced that this prayer is the true "Lord's Prayer." Come be encouraged, challenged and strengthened in your faith. Come and be reminded of the life that our Loving Father calls us to embrace. Come and celebrate the hope we have in Jesus - even when everything appears to be going sideways. It will be a very special weekend! Much grace to you -- Pastor Ian
