Based on his own real-life experiences, Elegance Bratton's THE INSPECTION, tells the story of a young Black man who was kicked out of the house by his Christian mother for being gay. After spending years at a homeless shelter and on the streets of New York City, he decides to enlist in the U.S. military to become a Marine. Ironically, this autobiographical film takes place during the era of ‘Don't Ask, Don't Tell' – a controversial policy that shunned openly gay people from entering the armed services. Join us as I SEE U Host Eddie Robinson speaks candidly with acclaimed filmmaker, Elegance Bratton, about his feature debut and future projects on the horizon. Bratton will share intimate details of how he came to grips with the ultimate dilemma of whether he'd stay out on the streets and die young to become a mere statistic or join the military and die young to become a war hero. The New Yorker will even offer up words of encouragement for parents, when visions and dreams they had for their own children don't quite pan out the way they expected them to.

This channel is one of the few that can teach you how to Rightly Divide the word of truth: (2 Timothy 2:15) Once you learn to do so, the confusion will disappear and the scriptures will come alive like never before! On today's podcast we speak with a caller concerning her Religious OCD. The International OCD Foundation defines Scrupulosity as "a subtype of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) involving religious or moral obsessions. Scrupulous individuals are overly concerned that something they thought or did might be a sin or other violation of religious or moral doctrine. They may worry about what their thoughts or behavior mean about who they are as a person." Also listed on their website are the following common symptoms: ●Fear of committing blasphemy, or offending/angering God ●Fear of having committed a sin ●Behaving overly morally ●Excessively striving for purity ●Fear of going to hell or being punished by God ●Fear of being possessed ●Fear of death ●Fear of the loss of impulse control ●Doubting what you truly believe or feel ●Needing to acquire certainty about religious beliefs Today you will hear Misti, talk about her experience with Scrupulosity/Religious OCD and how coming to understand the Grace of God is helping to set her free from the bondage of religion. The symptoms which fuel this type of OCD, should be relatable for anyone from a religious background - whether they end up leading to behavioral compulsions or not. Misti believes that the anxiety causing her Scrupulosity came from her never having heard the good news of what actually happened on the cross. How that it was there when God stopped charging the world with their sins! (2 Corinthians 5:19) In NOT ONE of the churches she attended had she ever heard this good news!!! - But only that she was a dirty rotten sinner on her way to hell if she didn't stop sinning. But praise be to God: Misti now knows what happened to her sins as a result of the finished work of Christ. She has believed the gospel unto salvation, and in doing so, is learning to find peace in her circumstances. Religious Legalism is damaging but Grace is the answer. Anxiety is defeated by the peace that comes from being secure in Christ. Please keep Misti in your prayers, as she still struggles from time to time, but continues to grow in God's grace, learning more about who she is in Christ. We pray that her brave testimony of what Christ has already done for her, (helping her realize that Christ already defeated the battles in her mind) will be a blessing to all who listen. Sermon Notes The Promises that Changed the World “Trusting in God's Promises” Luke 1:5-25 1. God's promises always change our world. • Zechariah: “God remembers“ • Elizabeth: “God of oath, promise” • God: “I am here” (God's name is a promise!) • Gabriel: angel is messenger of God • John: son of Zechariah and Elizabeth: God remembers His promise 2. God's promises are based on God's purposes • God is working in our lives and in our world to accomplish His purposes (and fulfill His promises!) for our good and His glory. • God's promises are not based on our performance. • God will remember and fulfill every promise He has made. • Even when it's been a long time • Even when it looks impossible • Even when we have failed (to believe) 3. God's promises are not affected by your failure • In the biggest moment of Zechariah's life he failed miserably • he failed to see how God was working • he failed to believe • he failed because of fear • he failed to focus on God • Fear seeks to keep you from hearing God's promises, seeing God's purposes and sensing God's presence. • Even when we fail, God is still faithful! 4. God's promises are grounded in God's faithfulness • The antidote for shame is what God has done, not what you have done. • Since God is so faithful, let's trust Him! Core CHRISTlike Characteristic: Trustworthy Steward of God's Resources/Living Surrendered LifeGroup Questions Icebreaker: Share the meaning behind your name! (Look it up if you don't know!) The Jewish people of the First Century awaited the coming Messiah. What promises of God do we still await as New Testament Christians? Why is it so hard to wait for a promise to come true? What might God be trying to teach us as we, like Zechariah and Elizabeth, wait? Why do we fall into thinking that God's blessings are based on our performance? What is the risk in falling into this way of thinking? How do God's promises provide an answer to our fear and shame? Read Hebrews 11:32-40. Many people lived and died in faith, not receiving the fulfillment of God's promises. Yet, we live in a time when we can look back at the cross and see the fulfillment of God's promises in Jesus Christ. As you end your time together, spend a moment reflecting on the fear and shame in your life that try to keep you from holding on to God's promises. Then, thank God that fear and shame meet their end in His steadfast love displayed on the cross.

God is our God: Fear Not! "The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; Your love, O Lord, endures forever--do not abandon the works of Your hands." Psalm 138:8 You may not know it, but God is always with you. He never leaves your side, even when you can't see Him. No matter what you're going through, God is there for you. He is always ready to help you, guide you, and support you. Even when you can't feel His presence, know that He always is there. He is always watching over you and knows exactly what you need. Isaiah 41:10 reassures us, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." God is always ready to forgive you, no matter what you've done. In fact, Psalm 103:12 says, "As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us." Just because you've sinned doesn't mean that you're out of God's reach. He loves you and wants to forgive you. Therefore, remember that God is always ready to help you, even if you are a sinner. He knows what you're going through and is there for you every step of the way. Thank Him for His never-ending love and support. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Brethren, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). Therefore, don't take all the blessings God has given you for granted in good times. And in the bad times, don't feel overwhelmed and alone. No matter what life throws your way, always count on God to be there for you. In the Bible, it says, "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me." (Psalm 23:4) This promise from God is reassuring that we are never alone, no matter what. So therefore, reach out to God and ask him to help you if you think you are alone and overwhelmed. Because no matter what you're going through, God will help you get through it. He won't leave you to face your challenges alone. When you remember God in your loneliness, in that moment of weakness, in that moment of despair, he will be there for you. You will find comfort and strength in him no matter what life throws your way because you are not alone; God is always ready to help you. Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Prayer: Lord, I thank you for your unfailing power and grace over my life. I pray that you help me enjoy more of your presence, for I know you are always ready to commune with me. I ask for the grace to walk in your divine ways in Jesus' name. https://youtu.be/LyE-w7dU8Ks https://maglife.org/ --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/divine-ojelade/support

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off by sharing his thoughts on the Milwaukee Bucks' victory over the Phoenix Suns in Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Khris Middleton had 40 for the Bucks and Devin Booker dropped 42 for the Suns, but the big story to come out of the game was the underwhelming play of the Point God Chris Paul. Paul had five more turnovers in Game 4 – including a critical one in the final minutes – and had arguably his worst game of the playoffs. In fact, CP3's play has gotten worse pretty much every game of these NBA Finals. With Paul slowing down and Giannis Antetokounmpo looking like the most dominant player in the series, it feels like the Bucks are in full control. Later, FOX Sports MLB analyst Ben Verlander swings by to discuss what it was like meeting his sports hero Shohei Ohtani at the MLB All-Star Game, his own experience as a two-way player in college, why he's only slightly optimistic that we'll see more two-way players moving forward, how Twitch helped him prepare for a career in sports media, and much more! God is a loving Father, so why would the Bible talk about our need to fear God? In this message, Jordan tackles one of the most challenging truths of Scripture; that fear of God is necessary for real, authentic, friendship with God. We all have fears. In fact, right now is a very fearful time for us all. Too often, though, we have let fear rule our lives and stop us from taking a stand for what we know God wants us to do and what God says is true. When the Church has a true fear of God, we do not fit neatly into a category, a political party, or a tribe. However, we do find ourselves in greater unity with one another and with Jesus. Maybe the reason we have become so casual in our obedience to Jesus is because we don’t fear the Lord. If we are going to truly experience the fullness of a relationship with God, there are four things we must do that we will unpack together in this message. “The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant.” -Psalms 25:14 (ESV)-

Join us this week as Cory Bird shares about the parallels between playing in the NFL and living for the Kingdom of Heaven. There are so many things in our world (whether good or bad) that can so easily distract us from the priority of obeying God- Fear, Materialism, our plans and yes even family. Just like in football when the coach says to a team member to do something the team member understands that the coach is not giving a suggestion, so too, we as believer have the Lord Jesus who has given us commands and not suggestions.
