LIKE MOTHER, 8min., Canada Directed by Lisa Drupsteen A young woman navigates her romantic life while trying her best to dodge her mother's demons. Will she have the strength to break the cycle of manipulation? Or simply fall victim to the old adage: “Like Mother, Like Daughter”… https://www.instagram.com/lisa_drupsteen Get to know the filmmaker: A short story I wrote while a student at The Second City Film School (formally the Harold Ramis Film School) featured a zany, narcissistic mother who named pets after loved ones. My peers were eager to learn more about this eccentric lady. I knew I had to explore the concept more deeply and bring it to life on the screen one day. This week on the show: marking the passage of Harold Ramis, Ghostbusters (2020) news, IDW and Fan Fest updates, and an examination on a recent article suggesting the latest film will not help revitalize the franchise. First up, the boys talk about Eugene Levy’s appearance at the Harold Ramis Film School in Chicago, the latest GB20 casting info (and yes, we’ll talk about the Finn Wolfhard and Connie Coon news next week - sadly, it hit the morning after we recorded), updates on Ghostbusters’ crossover with Transformers, and some clarity on a few questions Wizard World has answered for Fan Fest. Then, the major discussion this week is dedicated to a recent movie blog article listing five reasons the author believes the new movie won’t be the jolt the franchise needs to continue. Chris and Troy beg to differ (and end up talking quite a bit about Bill Murray because of it).

Gilbert and Frank celebrate their 200th (!) episode by welcoming frequent guests (and friends) Drew Friedman, Rupert Holmes and Richard Kind for a loose, laugh-filled (and frequently lewd) discussion of essential topics, including: the cinema of Fred Gwynne, the unpredictability of Jerry Lewis, the long-lost child of Uncle Miltie, and the risks and rewards of meeting one's heroes. Also, Drew puts Groucho to bed, Rupert lunches with Frank Capra, Richard lives up to his name and the panel recalls the movie that changed their lives. PLUS: The Olivia de Havilland of monster movies! In praise of Dan Castellaneta! Gilbert disses (the original) "Casino Royale"! Merv Griffin co-stars with a gorilla! And the boys rank the best Richard Kind impressions! This episode is brought to you by Squarespace (www.squarespace.com code: GILBERT) and Harold Ramis Film School. Learn more about your ad choices. Once upon a time, right before Talking Games became a Nerdologues podcast, the wonderful John Sabine came by the show to talk about one of his favorite gaming franchises, Civilization. As part of our farewell tour, he's back to talk about the newest entry in the series! Thanks to the Harold Ramis Film School for sponsoring this episode, and thanks of course to the Chicago Podcast Coop for existing!
Talking Games hosts Kellen and Tim are so excited and honored to bring a totally fresh face to this podcast. Please join us in welcoming Clayton Margeson as he brings a favorite gaming franchise, Dark Souls, to the table in this Very Special Episode. Plus, marvel at Tim's new baritone voice! Thanks to the Harold Ramis Film School for sponsoring this episode and to the Chicago Podcast Coop for making that sponsorship happen.
Do you know Eric Garneau? He edits this podcast every week and also does these stupid write-ups. Well this week, you're gonna hear his voice too, as he joins Tim, Clayton, and Kellen to talk about the rise and fall of the rock music genre of video games, specifically Guitar Hero and Rock Band. How did Rock Band almost lead to Eric playing Lollapalooza? What did Clayton's home rock star setup look like? Why does Tim hate Twin Peaks so much? Both of these questions plus probably a couple more will be answered! Thanks so much to our sponsors for this week's episode, the Harold Ramis Film School at Second City, and thanks of course to the Chicago Podcast Coop for existing! You can find the Nerdologues' new podcast Blank Cassette, hosted by Eric, here!
We have a trailer! Well, a trailer FOR the trailer! We've got a special show planned for you to celebrate the Trailer Announcement that also just so happens to be on the date aliens in Paramus, NJ predicted would be the end of the world! Then the boys will talk all the merchandise news that's fit to print because this week also is the New York International Toy Fair - Legos, fan clubs, Funko Pop Vinyls, there's a whole slew of good stuff coming that we finally got to see. Then, Cleanin' Up the Town's Kickstarter campaign happened in between recording sessions, and with it came a new trailer that the boys'll chat about. Also, great news out of Chicago as Second City has announced the Harold Ramis Film School opening in September, and there's a familiar name in charge of it. Finally, we'll get to everyone's fantastic (and fun) feedback to the Death and Taxes article discussed last week, including a guest appearance from the guys at Ghostbusters Resurrection. This is a CAN'T MISS episode of the Crossrip, especially considering the world might be coming to an end, join us for the last moments won't you?
