I'm on Wilosophy this week if you wanted to have a listen either on this feed or over at Everyone Relax. Also on Josh Earl's 'Four Burners', Dave Warneke's 'Book Cheat' and Matt and Alex. Just if you want to listen to even more! Original description: Sammy P once blacked out on stage, it led to six years away but now he's returning to stand up. Ahead of his massive tour, he joins Wil to explain the significance of his dog 'Missy Diggins', why he became a master of butterfly stroke (the most arrogant stroke), and his life-changing relationship with Greg Fleet. Sammy opens up about learning to love his "crooked smile" and how that — and growing up around addiction — inspired his love of comedy.Follow Sammy on Insta: https://www.instagram.com/sammypetersenunofficial/See Sammy live: https://linktr.ee/sammypetersenSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

"Short-term shyster, long-term loser" — Larry Dean. Larry's learned that playing the short game rarely pays off, unless you're a dodgey comedy promoter. Plenty of laughs in this one as Larry shares his complex relationship with his audience (including the illogical reason he prefers an audience who doesn't know him). Also, why giving truthful feedback is hard, what percentage of his jokes does he find funny?, and... ghosts? Yes, Larry shares a couple of ghost stories and Wil almost buys it. Ed Kavalee does his best to deflect his way through two hours and in the end, Wil learns a lot about himself and we learn Ed's 'teamwork' approach to comedy cuts to the bone. Hear about Ed's dream of making another film, his full-circle role in the recent incredible season of Thank God You're Here, and why the mistakes we make often lead to our best qualities. "Life is shit. Accept it and get on with the job" — Andrew Hanson. Although Andrew Hanson wasn't interested in having kids, now that he has them he says they've "kicked his head open". He shares how they've shaped his work and worldview, including his approach to spending as much time with them as possible. Andrew also shares his 'sketch' approach to comedy and how his heroes informed the values he lives by as an adult. Also, can comedy change the world? "Remember, you know nothing". Anne Edmonds reflects on finding comedy in her 30s, becoming a mum in her 40s, and how reveling in failure has shaped her worldview. Anne joins Wil fresh off the back of her first theatre ['Bloom' by Tom Gleisner] — she talks about the differences between that medium and stand-up and why she felt embarrassed rehearsing to nobody.
