Cutting Through the Chaos with Wallace Garneau – What we are witnessing is not a partisan dispute; it is a struggle between the people and an entrenched oligarchy that fears true liberty. Garneau warns that we are being herded toward a fascist super-state, one that has shed nationalism but retained the machinery of total control...

“Finish line. All the vibes at the finish line, whether it's tears or laughter or appreciation, you cannot replicate that feeling. Whether you're the runner or you're the race director.” - Jodi McNeillJodi McNeill and Norm Nadon have been running for a long time and they've had the sport be an even bigger part of their lives than most, having run a retail shop for a while. The one constant love in the sport they both share is the love of community. The opportunity to share that with others and grow their own is one they both embrace as the hosts of the Gotta Run Racing Podcast. The podcast was something that was on their radar for quite some time, and all it took was the pandemic to kick it into gear.“The funny thing is that I always wanted to do a podcast even before we sold our store, and I bought all the equipment, I threw it in the closet, and that's where it was for a year. And then the pandemic, we sold our store and I said, okay, now's the time. And thanks to YouTube, how do you edit? How do you produce? How do you market? I learned on YouTube. And yeah, that's how it came to the podcast today.” - Norm NadonJodi and Norm were kind enough to have me on their show as well, which you can find here! Make sure to listen to both shows and let us know what you think. I had a blast learning more about them and I equally enjoyed getting the chance to share some more about myself on the Gotta Run Podcast. The Trail Running Film Festival is coming to JasperThe Trail Running Film Festival is back, and we are hosting 6 shows this year! I'm incredibly excited to be returning to Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Canmore, and Crowsnest Pass. And we've just nailed down our 6th show, the one we've been hinting at, as we're headed to Jasper in 2025! It will be a fundraiser show to help recover from the terrible wildfires earlier in 2024. We're so pumped to be working with Jasper Community Habitat for the Arts to bring the festival to Jasper. All proceeds from this specific show will be split between the Habitat for the Arts and the Jasper Volunteer Fire Brigade. We saw the Run for Jasper had raised funds for the brigade through that event and thought it was a great idea. A massive thank you to Mathias, Amanda, and everyone else at the Trail Running Film Festival for donating the license for this show. It truly will be every dollar raised going back into the community. Tickets are on sale now and if you can't make it but want to donate, we have a donation option on the site as we'd love to raise as much as we can for these Jasper groups. It's an iconic Canadian outdoor space and the Trail Running Film Festival seems like a great fit and way to help the revival of that great community. I can't wait to hang out with you all again, celebrate our amazing sport, and grow this festival to provide an even more fun and entertaining evening for everyone involved. Our early bird tickets are on sale now for the newly announced Jasper show, as well as Vancouver at the Rio, Edmonton at the Garneau, and Crowsnest Pass at Frank Slide. They are $25 and will go up to $30 on January 1, and they will be $35 at the door. So you might as well save a few bucks while you can. We are so damn excited to have 5 Peaks and the Stoked Scramble/Stoked Ultra back as our Platinum sponsor this year. They have been incredible to work with as they are so supportive and so encouraging and have been since day 1. They love this event as much as we do and we're super grateful to Jacob Puzey for all the support. They give us so many goodies to give away as well, it means the world to us!We also have Black Lung Ultra from Nordegg, AB coming on as a sponsor for our tour. Last year they got involved with our Alberta shows and had so much fun they are getting even more involved this year! Their race sold out in its inaugural year back in September, and we're pumped to help them sell out again in 2025! A massive thank you to Petrea, Nick, Michael, and Brandon for their constant encouragement and support. We will likely announce some more sponsors in the coming weeks, we'll have guests to announce, and we're working on fun acts like the surprise burlesque opening act we had in Vancouver in 2024. We want to lean into the word “festival” and do that by including local artists and performers, so we can continue to spotlight our amazing communities. I'm so pumped to be working with Jeannine Avelino again on all of this. She's such an incredible community member and human being and I'm lucky to have her involved. And of course, my wife Sheena is always helping and finding ways to add value to our shows. I'm grateful to her. We have a small but mighty team and we plan on showing what we can do to make 2025 your favourite year yet! In this week's episode of Every Rockie Ever, Skyler and Dustin convened on a snow day to chat former players that currently work as coaches in the Rockies system. Recently, the Rockies hired former catcher Dustin Garneau as the major league bullpen coach. Despite a career that didn't flourish at the plate, Garneau has been known for solid defense and his work as catching coordinator/game planner for the minor league system the past two years presents some hope for the team's young bullpen. They then turn focus to fan favorite and 2018 Wild Card game hero Tony Wolters. Wolters joined the organization as the bench coach for the ACL Rockies in 2024, and the brothers break down his excellent work behind the plate working with pitches, lamenting that his offense never took off, and getting to the root of why he had the nickname Papers. Finally, they close things out mourning what could have been for current Rockies special assistant Scott Oberg. As Oberg was growing into prominence as a reliever, a recurring blood clot issue in his arm forced an early retirement from baseball, robbing both Oberg and fans of the high-quality reliever he was becoming. Still, there are wonderful moments to celebrate, like his role in closing out the 2018 Wild Card victory over the Cubs. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Many travelers brag that they are "adventurous" because they bag a famous peak, visit Vietnam, or eat escargot. Although I celebrate anyone who pushes their travel limits, let's calibrate our definition of adventurous. My definition of an adventurous traveler is Francois Xavier Paradis-Garneau. He's a 23-year-old intrepid Canadian who got the BBC's attention when he became the first Western tourist to do the ring road around Afghanistan after the Taliban took over. In 2022, he upped the ante with an even more ambitious trip: a 3-month traverse of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), from Angola to Uganda. I've driven across half of the DRC (from Uganda to Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic). Therefore, I have an idea of what he had to go through. This is part 1 of a 4-part series. In this episode, learn why Garneau did his trek and how he accidentally traversed through an area while a genocide was in progress. Hello and welcome to number 113! Frank Paradis returns for another bumper episode this week and we are talking about his three-month trip hitchhiking across the Congo River Basin in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Frank's plan was to enter overland from Angola and make it across to Uganda via the DRC jungle in the southwest to the northeast. Frank wanted to avoid planes and see as much on the ground as possible and trust me, this episode has some epic stories.Frank talks us through some of his highs and lows such as running into rebels with machine guns, contracting Malaria with an almost devastating outcome, the amazing Congolese people who really helped him on his way, seeing the Bonobos in the wild whilst 'volunteering', having to wade through the jungle water in barefoot and so many more! There is a reason this episode is nearly three hours long. A truly unique story and one which will inspire some wanderlust in you.Enjoy and be inspired!Frank's Contact DetailsFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100015965017185 - please feel free to contact Frank anytime on Messenger if you have any questions about travel.Email - fxpg1999@gmail.comWinging It Travel PodcastHost/Creator/Writer/Composer/Editor - James HammondProducer - James HammondPodcast Art Design - Swamp Soup Company - Harry UttonPodcast SupportDiscovery Car Hire - https://www.discovercars.com/?a_aid=Jhammo89Merch Store - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/winging-it-travel-podcast?ref_id=25823Want some insurance whilst travelling and/or working remotely? Today we have a pot-pourri of various stories with yet more focus on how the hot mess about what seems to have been a not very successful attempt (one of many over the decades, it seems) by the Government of the PRC to gain some political influence... or as the Conservatives are, with desPIERREation trying to spin in: "election interference by the PRC of which the PM was aware and most definitely approved... is, if anything, more of a sucky-reality-slider than a something-burger. And we have the latest classless dirty deed done dirt cheap by Champion-Conservative-Water-Carrier Brian Lilley. So, Kits, please settle in for a special Thursday morning nibble. Today, we talk about: Mr. Singh's Turban; Grocer and Grosser; From Illegitimate to In-On-It; Homeless Census; Go, Go, Garneau; Another Interference Reality Check, and; InCONvenient Things We Know. Our morning show is the purrr-fect thing for busy Kits who are on-the-go, but still want to stay engaged. PS: This episode is also available on our new True North Eager Beaver Media Inc. YouTube channel at [https://youtu.be/KIxmYrXfxBo]. PPS: If you wish to encourage us to do more, leave us a positive review and stars on Apple Podcasts and/or buy us a cup of coffee. November's The Leading Edge presents a selection of studies that gives an idea of the breadth of geophysics that aids in mitigating natural hazards, covering natural and induced earthquake phenomena and landslides. In this conversation with host Andrew Geary, Heather Bedle and Chris Garneau explore public misperceptions of geohazards, the power of experiencing earthquakes, and ways to improve scientific communication with the public. Heather highlights a new tool that helps with one of the greatest seismic data limitations, and Chris breaks down the connection between people's concern about future seismicity and climate change. They also choose the most important areas to mitigate geohazards between geophysics, societal work, and education. This episode breaks down geohazards and their impact on the public and provides actionable steps for geoscientists to study geohazards better and discuss their work with others. Dr. Heather Bedle is an Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma in the School of Geosciences. Dr. Chris Garneau is an Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma in the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Sociology. Redshirt junior linebacker Geoffrey Cantin-Arku joined GoTigers247 in this episode of Off the Boards. In the first segment, Geoffrey shares how he he came to play the game of football while growing up in Quebec City, Montreal, Canada. He describes playing hockey as a young kid, but do to the expense of playing hockey he transitioned to play football as a 10 year old. Geoffrey immediately fell in love with the game and a he began to dream of playing in the NFL one day. While playing for Cégep Garneau, he decided to come to the States and attend a football camp at Syracuse University. After the camp he was immediately offered by Syracuse and joined the Orangemen. Geoffrey explains how difficult it is for young football players in Canada to be noticed and how there are so many young kids in Canada just waiting to be noticed. On top of coming to America for the first time, Geoffrey had to learn how to speak English. With French being his original language, Geoffrey explains that he had to learn words that American coaches would use with him as they coached him, but he spent quite a bit of time and energy to learn how to speak English fluently. Playing ball in America has been a huge accomplishment for him, but learning to speak English fluently in three years is something he is as proud of as anything else. In the second segment, Geoffrey shares how Memphis got involved with him after he entered the transfer portal in 2021. He explains how he was offered by Power 5 school, but made the decision to join Memphis because of the culture that Ryan Silverfield and the staff has built. His introduction to the team was with linebacker coach, Jordon Hankins, on a visit early on, and he immediately bonded with Hankins. The deal was done by the time Geoffrey and his mother made an official visit to Memphis, and he experienced the "familial" bond that the players have with each other. Geoffrey explains that his mom is the most important person in the world with him and her approval for the next school he attended was extremely important. His mother loved the staff, immediately trusted them, and also is a massive Elvis fan. Geoffrey ends the episode talking about the veteran leadership on the Memphis defense and how the camaraderie on the defense made the transition to Memphis easy for him. He specifically talked about Tyler Murray and Zay Cullens as the guys he is closest to on the team and the advances he has made in his game due to their leadership. He believes that the veteran leadership on the team has allowed for the transition to new defensive coordinator, Matt Barnes, to be as seamless as it could possibly be. He also expresses a lot of admiration for Coach Barnes and his ability to teach and share his vision for the defense in a way that makes sense for all the players. I have invested lots of time and energy into getting better at listening to “pings” – what I describe as nudges from the universe (or God or Spirit or intuition). In this episode, I sat down with Dr. Nicole Garneau to talk about the pings she's followed that have led her to a new career, a clearer purpose and even to better mental health. Listen in and let us know what resonates!About Dr. Nicole Garneau: Named one of the top five most influential young professionals in Colorado, Dr. Nicole is a scientist, entrepreneur and keynote speaker who uses a marriage of science and soul to explore the human condition.
