First of all, I would like to say that I absolutely love the Alien franchise! The franchise in which we know started in 1979 and it's still going strong in the movie industry, the horror community, and in the convention circuit. Who would have thought that a low budget Science Fiction movie would make such a huge difference and impact?I am honored to have had the opportunity to speak to Carl Toop, the iconic Xenomorph in “Aliens” (1986). He has to be one of the most generous actors I know. We spoke about his role as the Alien Warrior and what it was like to wear the costume, filming on the set, and to work with such a wonderful cast. He also went into very descriptive detail about the iconic scene with Carrie Henn – the flooded sub-basement scene at Hadley's Hope. So what is Carl up to now? He's a Chef in France! Who would have guessed? However, he remains true and loyal to his fans by attending conventions around the world and in the United States. This actor is a true legend! If you have the chance to check out the special edition of “Aliens” (1986), please do! The DVD shows deleted scenes from the original cut. And, make sure that you celebrate “National Alien Day” on April 26th and show your support to the awesome franchise, directors, and actors.

Welcome to Cyberpunk Cinema – the Definitive Dive into the Dark Future of Science Fiction. I am your host, Anthony La Pira, and I will be taking you on a cinematic journey through the sprawling cityscapes, the crippling datastorms, and the cybernetic implants that encompass all things Cyberpunk. In this week's episode, I will be breaking-down the 1986 cyberpunk sci-fi action masterpiece, Aliens – written & directed by James Cameron; story by James Cameron, Walter Hill, & David Giler; starring Sigourney Weaver, Michael Biehn, Paul Reiser, Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton, Jenette Goldstein, and Carrie Henn.Decades after surviving the Nostromo incident, Ellen Ripley is sent out to re-establish contact with a terraforming colony but finds herself battling the Alien Queen and her offspring.Aliens transformed my childhood and became a sci-fi action landmark that, in my opinion, has never been topped. This film is galvanizing, terrifying, heart-pounding, pulse-pounding, funny, legendarily quotable, and a certifiable stone-cold classic. It's the ultimate litmus test – if you don't like Aliens, than we can't be friends. Period. I have probably seen this film near 100 times and it only gets better with each viewing. I cannot fucking wait to go over this star beast! So, do me a favor – it's time to access your cranial jacks, boot up your Ono-Sendai Cyberspace 7, and slap on your damn mirror-shades. Send us a Text Message. You didn't think that it was game over for the Summer of Action, did you? What are we gonna do now, what are we gonna do? We're not going to build a fire and sing a few songs, I'll tell you that. Look, if we're going to do this right, we need to bring in a special guest. James (not Cameron), allegedly the foremost expert of all things involving this movie, joins us to discuss the ins, facehuggers, and outs, chestbursters, of the James (okay now) Cameron classic Aliens (1986)!
We visit a James Cameron classic and ask a young first-time viewer how it compares to modern Cameron films. For related episodes of the Alien franchise, check out 768: Alien (1979) and 1004: Predator (1987). The Bad For Me tweet ripping off Cameron's ALIEN$ pitch. The next episode will be Yes, Madam (1985).
On this week's show, we watched 1986's Aliens starring Sigourney Weaver, Michael Biehn, Paul Reiser, Lance Henriksen, Carrie Henn, and Bill Paxton. From director James Cameron, this next installment to the Alien franchise is quite a tonal shift from the first movie. While the first is a sci-fi horror classic, the second is arguably one of the greatest sci-fi action movies ever. This movie sees the return of both the hero and monster(s) from the first, a group of intergalactic badass soldiers, great cinematography, an unforgettable soundtrack, vehicles that would make the Dark Knight swoon, a couple of laughs, a few scares, and a wildly intense and unrelenting climax. Be sure to let us know what you think of the movie, and the podcast. Thanks and enjoy!

Katie and Bridget nuke the planet from orbit (its the only way to be sure), as they re-watch the 80s classic: Aliens! Ripley's back and she's more pissed off than ever! Can you blame her!? After waking from being in hyper sleep for 57 years, she gets thrust into helping a group of marines go attempt to rescue a colony that was stationed on the Alien planet - yes THAT alien planet. Basically, nobody has a good time and almost everyone dies! But don't worry because this movie is also about the power of Moms thanks to Newt, a young girl who knows more shit than you about the aliens. Ripley gives us one of the most iconic endings ever put to film as she tells the Alien mother to go eff herself while saving Newt #getawayfromheryoubitch. Released in 1986, it was written and directed by James Cameron and stars Sigourney Weaver, Michael Biehn, Paul Reiser, Bill Paxton, Lance Henriksen, William Hope, Jenette Goldstein, and Carrie Henn.

Aliens | Sigourney Weaver | Michael Biehn | Paul Reiser| James Cameron | [1986] Aliens is a 1986 science fiction action film written and directed by James Cameron. It is the sequel to the 1979 science fiction horror film Alien, and the second film in the Alien franchise. Set in the far future, the film stars Sigourney Weaver as Lieutenant Ellen Ripley, the sole survivor of an alien attack on her ship. When communications are lost with a human colony on the moon on which her crew first encountered the alien creatures, Ripley agrees to return to the site with a troop of Colonial Marines to investigate. Aliens features Michael Biehn, Paul Reiser, Lance Henriksen, and Carrie Henn in supporting roles. Despite the success of Alien, its sequel took years to develop; it was delayed by lawsuits, a lack of enthusiasm from 20th Century Fox, and repeated changes in management. Based on his scripts for The Terminator (1984) and Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), Cameron was hired to write a story for Aliens in 1983. The project stalled again until new Fox executive Lawrence Gordon pursued a sequel. Although relatively inexperienced, Cameron was given the director role based on his success directing The Terminator. On an approximately $18.5 million budget, Aliens began principal photography in September 1985. Like its development, filming was tumultuous and rife with conflicts between Cameron and the British crew at Pinewood Studios. James Horner composed the film's score. The difficult shoot also affected Horner, who was given little time to record the music. Aliens was released on July 18, 1986, to critical acclaim. It was well received for its action, but some reviewers were critical of the intensity of some scenes. Sigourney Weaver's performance received consistent praise; other members of the cast were positively received, including Bill Paxton and Jenette Goldstein who played Colonial Marines. The film received a number of awards and nominations, including an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for Weaver at a time when the science-fiction genre was generally overlooked. The film earned $131.1–183.3 million during its theatrical run, one of the highest-grossing films of 1986 worldwide. Aliens is now considered to be among the greatest films of the 1980s, one of the best science-fiction or action films ever made, and one of the best sequels ever made. It has been called equal to (or better than) Alien. Aliens is credited with expanding the franchise's scope with additions to the series' lore and factions such as the Colonial Marines. #Aliens #SigourneyWeaver #JamesCameron #BillPaxton #MichaelBiehn #PaulReiser #DavidGiler #WalterHill #DanOBannon #RonaldShusett #GaleAnnHurd #AdrianBiddle #RayLovejoy #JamesHorner #20thCenturyFox #BrandywineProductions #UnitedStates #Aliens1986 #ScienceFiction #MovieByte #MovieBytePodcast #JustChillinEntertainment --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow Us: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/moviebytepod... When communications are lost with a human colony on the moon on which her crew first encountered the alien creatures, Ripley agrees to return to the site with a troop of colonial marines to investigate. The film also stars features Michael Biehn, Paul Reiser, Lance Henriksen, and Carrie Henn in supporting roles. The original score for the film was composed and conducted by James Horner, performed by The London Symphony Orchestra and recorded by the legendary Eric Tomlinson. The original soundtrack recording was released on Varese Sarabande Records in 1986 and was expanded by the same label in 2001. On the program you'll hear Randy and Erik talk about various topics including when they first saw the film, its use of practical special effects, the production design, the sound design, how disrespected the music was in the film, accusations of Horner self-plagiarism, Horner's ridiculously short composing schedule, writing "Bishop's Countdown" essentially overnight, the use of "Resolution" in Die Hard, the "Alien Stinger", a detailed breakdown of six essential cues from the score and much more. This week we continue a retrospective on the Alien films with the 1986 film ALIENS. This is Episode 327.Aliens is a 1986 American science fiction action film written and directed by James Cameron. Aliens features Michael Biehn, Paul Reiser, Lance Henriksen, and Carrie Henn in supporting roles.Despite the success of Alien, its sequel took years to develop; it was delayed by lawsuits over profits from the first film, a lack of enthusiasm from 20th Century Fox, and repeated changes in management. Based on his scripts for The Terminator (1984) and Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), Cameron was hired to write a story for Aliens in 1983. The project stalled again until new Fox executive Lawrence Gordon advocated a sequel. Relatively inexperienced, Cameron wanted to direct the film and was given the role based on his success directing The Terminator. On an approximately $18.5 million budget, Aliens began principal photography in September 1985. Like its development, filming was tumultuous and rife with conflicts between Cameron and the British crew at Pinewood Studios over their work habits and Cameron's relative inexperience. James Horner composed the film's score. The difficult shoot also affected Horner, who was given little time to record the music.Aliens was released on July 18, 1986, to critical acclaim. It was well-received for its action, but some reviewers were critical of the intensity of some scenes. Weaver's performance received consistent praise; other members of the cast were positively received, including Bill Paxton and Jenette Goldstein (who played colonial marines). The film received a number of awards and nominations, including an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for Weaver at a time when the science-fiction genre was generally overlooked. The film earned $131.1–183.3 million during its theatrical run, one of the highest-grossing films of 1986 worldwide.Since its release, Aliens is now considered to be among the greatest films of the 1980s; one of the best science-fiction or action films ever made, and one of the best sequels ever made. It has been called equal to (or better than) Alien. Aliens is credited with expanding the franchise's scope with additions to the series' lore and factions such as the colonial marines; these led to its appearance in other media, such as comic books and video games, and the development of the Alien vs. Predator franchise. With its impact on popular culture and fan following, Aliens has inspired a variety of merchandise which includes video games, comic books, board games, clothing, music, books, toys, and collectibles. The film was followed by two direct sequels – Alien 3 (1992) and Alien Resurrection (1997), both critically panned but financially successful – and crossover films in the Aliens vs. Predator franchise. The Alien series has prequels to Alien (Prometheus and Alien: Covenant), and a fifth sequel was in development in 2020.
This episode we talk about the beloved Aliens from 1986. James Cameron as the director, we explore the ins and outs of what this movie brought to the film industry, how certain phrases became everyday expressions, and who should have been cut from the final film. Starring Sigourney Weaver, Michael Biehn, Carrie Henn, and Paul Reiser.
It's been a long day, but we're finally at the peak. This episode covers the first two films in the Alien franchise - 'Alien', and 'Aliens'. Our drinking game rule this week is from the legendary Sam Hurley from Movie Reviews in 20 Q's. You can find Sam at https://mritqs.podbean.com/ Alien is a 1979 science-fiction horror film directed by Ridley Scott and written by Dan O'Bannon. Based on a story by O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett, it follows the crew of the commercial space tug Nostromo, who encounter the eponymous Alien, a deadly and aggressive extraterrestrial set loose on the ship. The film stars Tom Skerritt, Sigourney Weaver, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt, Ian Holm, and Yaphet Kotto. It was produced by Gordon Carroll, David Giler, and Walter Hill through their company Brandywine Productions, and was distributed by 20th Century Fox. Giler and Hill revised and made additions to the script; Shusett was executive producer. The Alien and its accompanying artifacts were designed by the Swiss artist H. R. Giger, while concept artists Ron Cobb and Chris Foss designed the more human settings. Aliens is a 1986 American science fiction action film written and directed by James Cameron, produced by Gale Anne Hurd and starring Sigourney Weaver. The second installment in the Alien franchise, it follows Ellen Ripley (Weaver) as she returns to the moon where her crew encountered the hostile Alien creature, this time accompanied by a unit of space marines. Additional roles are played by Carrie Henn, Michael Biehn, Paul Reiser, Lance Henriksen, Jenette Goldstein, William Hope, Al Matthews, and Bill Paxton.

SpaceX loses its third Starship prototype during a cryogenic test Link: https://arstechnica.com/science/2020/04/spacex-loses-its-third-starship-prototype-during-a-cryogenic-test/ SpaceX workers in South Texas loaded the third full-scale Starship prototype—SN3—onto a test stand at the company's Boca Chica launch site. On Wednesday night, they pressure-tested the vehicle at ambient temperature with nitrogen, and SN3 performed fine. Last Thursday night SpaceX began cryo-testing the vehicle, which means it was loaded again with nitrogen, but this time it was chilled to flight-like temperatures and put under flight-like pressures. Unfortunately, a little after 2am local time, SN3 failed and began to collapse on top of itself. It appeared as if the vehicle may have lost pressurization and become top-heavy. Shortly after the failure, SpaceX's founder and chief engineer, Elon Musk, said on Twitter, "We will see what data review says in the morning, but this may have been a test configuration mistake." Here's a recap of SpaceX's efforts to test full-size Starships to date: Starship Mk1: Construction began in December, 2018. Failed during pressure test in November, 2019. Starship SN1: Construction began in October, 2019. Failed during a pressure test on Feb. 28. Starship SN2: Construction began in Feb., 2020. After SN1 failure, was converted into a test bed for thrust puck at base of rocket. Passed test on March 8, and was retired. Starship SN3: Construction began in March, 2020. Cryogenic test failure on April 3. Starship SN4: Construction began in March, 2020. Testing begins later this month? Discovered in 2019 by amateur astronomer Gennadiy Borisov, follow-up observations quickly showed that this comet was moving far, far too quickly to be bound gravitationally to the Sun. The most reasonable explanation is that it came from another star (though which one exactly is unclear), a true interstellar visitor. The weird thing about the comet — called 2I/Borisov — is how weird it isn't: If it weren't for its ridiculous velocity and trajectory, it would look just like any everyday comet from our own solar system. As it got close to the Sun the warmth heated the comet up, and the ice on and in it started to vaporize. Like locally sourced comets do, it emitted water, carbon monoxide, CN, and C2. Size estimates initially put it at a few kilometers across, but subsequent images show it's a lot smaller, probably half a kilometer in diameter. Everything about it looked… normal. Even in Hubble images taken on 23 March 2020, just a couple of weeks ago, everything looked copacetic. But then images taken on 28 March showed something had changed during the intervening few days: The comet had split in two! Is this an alien spaceship dropping off a shuttle as a prelude to invasion? Yeah, probably not*. In fact, if anything, this shows that this interstellar iceball really is just like our own solar system comets, because this sort of thing happens all the time. Aliens starts where the first one leaves off, with Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) in hypersleep drifting in the escape shuttle. What Ripley doesn't know until after she is rescued is that she has been that way for 57 years. When she gets back, the company that owned her ship is very interested in why she decided to blow it to smithereens, and are not too impressed with her implausible "alien on board" story, since they have recently inhabited the newly terraformed world Ripley claims to have encountered the alien on, and have found nothing to indicate there is any danger there. That is, until the company loses all signal from the far-off settlement, and offers Ripley full reinstatement if she will act as an advisor to a squad of Marines sent to investigate the affair. Features Michael Biehn, Carrie Henn, Lance Henriksen, and Bill Paxton in support. Written and directed by James Cameron.
Includes an interview with Aliens' very own Carrie Henn (aka Newt, no-one calls her Rebecca except her brother) about her time working on Aliens and her experiences since. Presented by Corporal Hicks & Xenomorphine.

It is the sequel to the 1979 film Alien and the second installment in the Alien franchise. The film follows Weaver's character Ellen Ripley as she returns to the planet where her crew encountered the hostileAlien creature, this time accompanied by a unit of space marines. They were interested in a follow-up to Alien as soon as its 1979 release, but the new management at 20th Century Fox postponed those plans until 1983.
