On Episode 230 I sit down with Eric Christensen. Eric is the owner of CrossFit Roots along with Nicole and is someone that I find to be hilarious and interesting. On today's episode, we talk about Eric's early days of wrestling, his story about getting into a fight, going to school for Forestry and what he did there, finding CrossFit, meeting Nicole, starting CrossFit Roots, and the journey that they have been on with that ever since 2009. We also talk about how much he values and loves being a Dad. I really enjoyed this conversation with Eric and I hope that you all enjoy it as much as I did!

We hope you had a chance to watch, listen, or participate in BYO's NanoCon held earlier this month. For host John Holl it was great fun to moderate two panels with industry experts, though leaders, and brewers. In addition to their own thoughts and insight we had a lot of great questions and feedback from conference participants, especially during our small brewer panel. For this episode, our last of 2021, Holl wanted to bring three brewers together to talk about shared experiences, how they faced adversity and got through it, and to see what their outlook for 2022 might hold. We cover everything from social media plans, to yeast and hops, customer service, retail, packaging, and more. For you small brewers putting in the hard work day in and day out it can be hard to get outside of your four walls. So hearing from other brewers or owners in podcast form might help a bit to show there are other people in similar situations. Their perspective might help you with insight into your own nano brewery. Our end of the year panelists are : Sara Ridgel of Policy Kings Brewery, she and her husband Dre are working to waking up the pallets of their Community through creative and innovative sessionable style beers. The opened in 2018 and she says the brewery's main goal is to always deliver a crushable beer. Eric Christensen is a 26 year veteran of the Coast Guard and started Gypsy Brewing Company with his wife, Heather, in May 2017. The two-barrel production only brewery serves local clientele in Southern Maryland through draft accounts, markets, and liquor stores. andRiker Wikoff is a co-founder of Red Clover Ale Co. In today's episode, Eric Christensen, Co-owner of Christensen Ranch in Weldona, Colorado talks about his ranch and his experience using the Simple Farms, LLC App.
In Ep. #14, hear Matt Peek, the Co-Founder and COO at Parkside Collectibles, tell the story behind the creation of the first-ever trading cards for the National Women's Soccer League. In 2018, Matt & his business partner Eric Christensen, made the very deliberate choice to invest in women's soccer after Matt's daughter pointed out that it was "dumb" that there weren't trading cards for professional women's soccer players. After realizing that no companies had the licensing rights to create NWSL trading cards, Matt & Eric founded Parkside Collectibles, with the #GOAL of eventually partnering with the league. After initially getting turned down by the then NWSL commissioner, Matt & Eric would spend the next year building out their business and establishing themselves as a proven trading card manufacturer. In 2019, Parkside finally accomplished their goal, and formed a partnership with the NWSL to create the league's first-ever trading cards.Fast forward, and Parkside Collectible produced a limited batch of trading cards for the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup cards which sold-out almost instantly - selling 2,750/3,000 packs in the first 36 hours alone. After the success they saw in 2020, NWSL x Parkside Collectibles teamed up again to create 25-card sets to align with the 2021 NWSL season. And even though Parkside created significantly more units to sell in 2021, the demand for the sets has been signifiant, with just a few packs left for purchase around the U.S. on shelves at Target & Walmart. In this episode, hear Matt tell the whole story behind the idea & creation of the NWSL cards, and hear Matt & Caroline discuss the general business opportunity for trading cards of professional women athletes.Spoiler Alert: Are you still looking to get your hands on a set of 2021 NWSL cards? Listen until the end of the episode to hear Matt reveal some future chances to purchase the last few packs of cards. Remembering Korla Pandit and revealing his secrets. Korla Pandit, the amazing musician who played entrancing exotic music as he silently stared into the television camera with his mesmerizing gaze was not what you were led to believe. Korla had a secret and if it was found out, he would have lost his career and quite possibly his family. Even after his death, his own children and grandchildren were hard pressed to believe the truth behind his deep, dark secret. He is known as the God Father of Exotica music and was a trail blazer in more ways than one. The film covers the arc of Korla's career, from having his own music show on television in the 1950's to years later where he developed a cult following playing tiki bars and lounges. The secret of his true identity, he carried to his grave and was revealed only after his death in 1998. Eric Christensen (@ericfoil) is everything I love about our foil world. He lives in Texas, makes his own equipment, froths on mushburgers and tanker waves, travels for contests and hosts the worlds best in the world's worst surf spot and they're stoked. Foiling is insane and Eric's passion showcases our love of the sport.

Eric Christensen was observing with the NASA funded Catalina Sky Survey Telescope on Mt. Lemmon, Arizona when he discovered a bright fast moving object in the night sky. During the next 25 hours it was observed by telescopes in Arizona and France and given the name 2014 MH6. It orbits the Sun in a bit over 16 months on a path which goes from closer than Venus to out past Mars.2014 MH6 is slightly smaller than the asteroid whose airburst caused more than 1000 flying glass injuries in Russia in February of 2013.

I chat with Oakley Police Chief Eric Christensen on a variety of topics including why he came back to the City of Oakley and what he looks for when hiring new officers. We get into community policing and importance of communication, working on homeless and mental illness within a community. The chief shares what the overall crime picture is in Oakley while how the department is addressing speed and traffic complaints. We also get into the arrest of Tristen Curl, a former Freedom HS student who terrorized the community through text messages and social media. What it took to solve that case and how technology assisted. We also get into the use of social media by the police department and how police departments are becoming their own media companies. Finally, close out by discussing how a strong code enforcement team is needed and assists police departments and the chief closes by providing what advice he would give to people entering a career in law enforcement.

Dr. Christensen welcome to the Final Surge Podcast, it is great to have you here today. You are a physical therapist in Chandler Arizona, can you tell our listeners how you got interested in the physical therapy field? You wrote a book coming out called Breathe Better. How did this book come about? We all breath, so this may not be something most people think about as a problem. How did you identify this as a problem? If a recreational runner comes to you, what are some things you identify that make you say this person needs to work on their breathing? If someone has runner knee or knee pain, how can breathing be a contributing factor to that? How would you go about training or retraining your breathing? Now what about something like side stitches, can changing your breathing help this? A lot of these issues with breathing you mentioned lifestyle. Is this because of the amount of time we spend hunching over our desks and phones? What can we look for in terms of signs during the day that we are falling into bad habits? Coaches teach breathing in through your nose out through you amount, is it fully in through the nose or is it a combination? If someone comes into a physical therapist and are not getting the results they want, how can they use your book to see if maybe a change in breathing could help them? What about those that may not have an injury, is there something in your book that they could find to just help with performance? How often does someone need to work on this to make the changes in their breathing? What percentage of people who come in to see you would you say need to work on their breathing? Who is your book intended for? Where can someone find your book? Resources ChandlerPT.net/breathbetter Instagram: @Chandler_PT Facebook: Chandler Physical Therapy Twitter: chandler_PT
