I often cringe when I think about some of the things I did as a teenager just to be “funny”, that were not totally aligned with my values at the time. What can Noah teach us about this? When I look back on my high school years, I cringe a bit when I reflect on some of the things that I did. I had a super strong testimony and was active in church. But I also realize that maybe I shouldn't have participated in that prank, or wonder why I felt I was justified in being rude to someone. I'm not saying I was a bad kid, but I can totally see now that there was a disconnect in my integrity-- my actions did not always line up with my beliefs. When I read about Noah, he is spoken of so highly in the scriptures: "Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations'". Perfect?! Well, I'm a big fan of footnotes, and when I looked at the footnote attached to "perfect", I noticed the Hebrew meaning could also translate to, "complete, whole, having integrity". Now THAT makes sense to me. Noah must have been a man of great integrity. When he said that he loved God, his actions aligned with making God a priority in his life. He was consistent in every area of his life. This is what makes Noah such a great example and disciple of God. Have you ever had the best of intentions to serve someone, and then everything got in your way and it couldn't happen? Let me tell you what I've learned from Noah's time. The people around at Noah's time were not good. And it wasn't just because of their actions. We learn that "every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." So they did bad things, but they also had evil intentions! This is sometimes great to remember, like when I have every intention to do something good, but the messiness of life or just plain forgetfulness seem to block me from doing it. You get credit for having good intentions! But on the opposite end, God also knows when we do things with bad intentions. He knows if that rude comment was said ignorantly or purposefully. He knows if we decided to skip something important because it was too much for us, or if we wanted to get out of it. Our actions matter! But the only thing that only God knows are the intentions behind our actions, for better or for worse. Before we report for duty, let's first observe the signs of places where we might be needed! I'm sure you've noticed there are so many “help wanted” signs right now around your town because everyone is hiring! In a talk from sis Linda K Burton she said: "Imagine with me some of the possible spiritual “help wanted” signs related to the work of salvation: Help wanted: parents to bring up their children in light and truth Help wanted: daughters and sons, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, cousins, grandparents, and true friends to serve as mentors and offer helping hands along the covenant path Help wanted: those who listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost and act on impressions received Help wanted: those who live the gospel daily in small and simple ways Help wanted: family history and temple workers to link families eternally Help wanted: missionaries and members to spread the “good news”—the gospel of Jesus Christ Help wanted: rescuers to find those who have lost their way Help wanted: covenant keepers to stand firm for truth and right Help wanted: true disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ As true disciples, may we offer our willing hearts and our helping hands to hasten His work.” Prayer, Scripture Study and Temple Attendance are just the first steps to healing and Connecting with Christ but as we connect we can then be in a place to #hearHim calling us to act on what we are learning. When the Lord calls, do it! YES, it's so hard sometimes, but when we don't act there is a disconnect. Bishop L Todd Budge said, “Something is made holy—whether it be our lives, our possessions, our time, or our talents—not simply by giving it up but rather by consecrating it to the Lord….Sacrifice is less about GIVING UP and more about GIVING TO the Lord.”
Something I was so grateful to have learned during group therapy sessions to help me “see things as they really are” is to use things called grounding techniques in a Trauma Kit. (look up grounding techniques, you won't regret it) Grounding tools and techniques can also be a distraction, to get us out of the stories the adversary is telling us and away from upsetting thoughts, memories, or feelings. Because grounding focuses on being present in the moment, grounding can also be considered mindfulness. Elder Sean Douglas, of the Seventy in this past General Conference taught that “doubt is replaced with faith as we build our foundation on Christ. Then, “when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, … it shall have no power … to drag [us] down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which [we] are built, which is a sure foundation.” These “grounding techniques” will need to be built on our "sure foundation," Jesus Christ in order to have healing powers. The Prophet of the Lord has been helping us to #hearHim? BECAUSE He says “Our Father knows that when we are surrounded by uncertainty and fear, what will help us the very most is to hear His Son.” The solution was creating trauma informed grounding kits for ourselves to engage our God given body's 5 senses. Listen to hear what you can include in your Trauma Kit.

when Jesus came to earth, who was he “annoyed” at? The Pharisees. Who were the Pharisees ? THE BELIEVERS // THE MEMBERS ~~ naaaaaay ~~ THE LEADERS of the Church!!! Whoa. Yet , they rejected Him because they clung too tightly to things of the old. They clung so tightly that they crucified Jesus. THEY CRUCIFIED THE VERY GOD THEY CLAIMED TO FOLLOW. Are we clinging so tightly to things of old that we won't #hearHim? That we won't hear the things God is so desiring to restore ? WHOA. “The restoration is ongoing, what is your role”? I AM NOT QUOTING MYSELF, I AM QUOTING OUR PROPHET. BRB. Gonna go cry and pray

This is the very first episode of Latter-day Life Coaches and it only seemed fitting to start with a topic that is essential for all of us. Believing that we are on the earth for a purpose is a common belief in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. What isn't so common is being able to specifically state what your purpose is. Join me, Heather Rackham as I talk with fellow life coach, Kyla Beecroft, as we discuss your Unique Purpose and what you are missing out by not defining your specific purpose. Life was meant to be LOVED and your Unique Purpose is meant to be LIVED out in you. Kyla has developed a quiz you can take so you can live life to the fullest. You have no idea the joy and fun this can bring. Free Quiz: Discover Your Unique Purpose
“I repeat again for emphasis the truth that discernment is a light of protection and direction in a world that grows increasingly dark.” Elder Bednar --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/LDSRPRLPODCAST/message
As the Book of Mormon peoples experienced the signs of the Savior's death, including days of darkness, they heard, amidst all the commotion, a voice inviting them to repent and return to the Lord. As they opened their ears and looked towards the voice they understood the voice and met Jesus Christ Himself. With all of the commotion going on in our world today it might be more important (and maybe more difficult) to hear Him than ever before. But if we did, what would we hear? What would we see? In February 2020, President Russell M. Nelson invited us to consider how we hear the voice of Jesus Christ in our own lives. He then invited us to "take steps to hear Him better and more often" and to share our feelings about Him with those around us
