In the face of life's hardships, the promise remains: joy and peace await those who choose faith over fear and hope over despair. Jesus Christ's love offers strength to endure, healing for our wounds, and a path to rise above life's challenges with grace and courage. Through Him, every sorrow can be turned into purpose, and every trial into a step closer to eternal joy. "We do not know all the answers; however, we do know important principles that allow us to face trials, tribulation, and adversities with faith and confidence in a bright future that awaits each of us. For over 50 years, For the Strength of Youth has been a guide for generations of Latter-day Saint youth. I always keep a copy in my pocket, and I share it with people who are curious about our standards. It has been updated and refreshed to better cope with the challenges and temptations of our day. The new version of For the Strength of Youth is available online in 50 different languages and will also be available in print. It will be a significant help for making choices in your life. Please embrace it as your own and share it with your friends. This new version of For the Strength of Youth is subtitled A Guide for Making Choices. To be very clear, the best guide you can possibly have for making choices is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the strength of youth. So the purpose of For the Strength of Youth is to point you to Him. It teaches you eternal truths of His restored gospel—truths about who you are, who He is, and what you can accomplish with His strength. It teaches you how to make righteous choices based on those eternal truths.13 It's also important to know what For the Strength of Youth does not do. It doesn't make decisions for you. It doesn't give you a “yes” or “no” about every choice you might ever face. For the Strength of Youth focuses on the foundation for your choices. It focuses on values, principles, and doctrine instead of every specific behavior. The Lord, through His prophets, has always been guiding us in that direction. He is pleading with us to “increase [our] spiritual capacity to receive revelation.”14 He is inviting us to “hear Him.”15 He is calling us to follow Him in higher and holier ways.16 And we are learning in a similar way every week in Come, Follow Me. This episode we dive in to Quentin L. Cook's talk, Sacred Scriptures - the Foundations of Faith, from the October 2024 General Conference.
Todd and Kevin review Elder Quentin L. Cook talk from the Saturday afternoon session of April 2024 general conference. He taught about moral agency and being one with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ through the Savior's Atonement.
Elder Cook 's talk revolves around a line from Christ's intercessory prayer - that we should be one with each other and one with Christ. He talks about the relatively simple task of becoming one with Christ and being unified with others in him. A large portion of his talk discusses choices, agency, and free will, and how we are free to choose what we value and what we spend our time on. And in doing so, we choose to follow and be one in Christ or not and include other along the way. “On the recent cover of a major university alumni publication, a prominent biologist-professor asserts, ‘There's no room for free will.' Not surprisingly, the professor is quoted in the article as saying, ‘There's no such thing as God, … and there's no free will, … and this is a vast, indifferent, empty universe.' I could not disagree more strongly.” An invitation: Think about how your decisions are influenced by things around you - people, weather, your biology, etc. And give yourself grace for the things you can't control and empower yourself over what you can. One of the most important aspects of covenant relationship is love. That prompted the title of this study––Evidences of God's Love: A study of Section 109. We will pair this scripture study with the messages from conference that will help us to learn important truths from both modern and ancient prophets as we study these covenant verses.

“Be Peaceable Followers of Christ” by Elder Cook is all about the blessing of peace given to those who have faith in Christ. Instead of a question, here's an invitation: Elder Cook says: “First, He encouraged them to ‘praise the Lord with singing, with music, with dancing, and with a prayer of praise and thanksgiving.'” Second, the Lord counseled if they were ‘sorrowful, call on the Lord thy God with supplication, that your souls may be joyful.'” You can also watch this podcast on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoiavmFctfCBB68kWaKVy0g If you'd like to send in comments on your favorite talks or if you have any other questions or comments, you can comment below, email me, or message me one any of my social media platforms. "Our hearts were drawn to the call of a prophet this April 2023 conference weekend. He reminded us that the easiest way to identify a follower of Christ is how compassionately that person treats other people. He told us that charity is the principal characteristic of a true follower of Christ, how charity defines a peacemaker. He promised us that if we would follow his counsel, we would arise as a spiritually strong woman of Christ. And then he told us the best is yet to come for those who spend their lives building up others. The prophet invited us to examine our discipleship, to make adjustments so that our behavior would be representative of a true follower of Jesus Christ. To live and interact with others in a higher, holier way. “I invite you to remember Jesus Christ. Pray to have the courage and wisdom to say or do what He would.” For the next six months, we plan to accept this invitation. In April and May, we will learn to UNDERSTAND HIS LOVE as we study the life and attributes of the PEACE GIVER. In June and July, we will study how to FEEL HIS LOVE as we find ways to experience PERSONAL PEACE. In August and September, we will discover how to SHARE HIS LOVE as we learn how to become PEACEMAKERS.Love gives second chances. Love asks, How can I help? Love is the welcoming in. Love doesn't stand higher, but meets people where they are. Love is never too good for someone. Love is full of grace. Love does not call attention to self. Love has an understanding heart. Love assumes the best. Love will not stand for injustice, helps carry the burden, creates trust, has high hopes and expectations. Love doesn't leave when things get tough.Love never fails. We look forward to spending the next six months with you!"

Learning by faith requires spiritual, mental, and physical exertion and not just passive reception. Bednar, “Seek Learning by Faith,” Ensign or Liahona, September 2007, 64).“We should not expect the Church as an organization to teach or tell us everything we need to know and do to become devoted disciples and endure valiantly to the end. Eder Cook's talk “Conversion to the Will of God” talks powerfully of the effects of conversion and the opportunity we have to be Christ's hands in this world. Here are some questions to ponder: Elder Cook's questions: “(1) Is Jesus Christ divine? (2) Is the Book of Mormon the word of God? and (3) Is Joseph Smith the Prophet of the Restoration?” How can we be an instrument in the Lord's hands - even imperfectly? How can you be His voice and hands? Do you use the kingdoms of glory to judge others? “For the Savior's mandate to share the gospel to become part of who we are, we need to become converted to the will of God; we need to love our neighbors, share the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, and invite all to come and see.” How can you be like Christ in these ways? And as always, what is the Lord telling you? What questions do you want to study further? Questions?
