#556 MONSTER MUSIC MONDAY    - The episode focuses on reviewing and providing feedback on music submissions from listeners.    - Submissions are accepted via the Mike Herrera Podcast Facebook group, where artists can share their YouTube links.    - Critiques various aspects of the submitted songs, including production quality, vocal performance, and song structure.    - Offers constructive criticism and praise, highlighting both strengths and areas for improvement in each submission.   Some Advice and Tactics: Avoid Excessive Auto-Tune    - Use auto-tune sparingly and only as an effect. Overuse can detract from the authenticity of the vocal performance, especially in genres like punk rock. Simplify Intros    - Keep the intro of your song short and engaging. Long intros or unnecessary samples can cause listeners to lose interest before the main part of the song begins. Focus on Production Quality    - Invest time and resources into ensuring high-quality production. Good production can significantly enhance the listening experience and make your music more appealing to a wider audience. Duh!   Monster Music Monday Submissions: 1. BEN TROUBLES - BREAK THIS BALL AND CHAIN    New submission for Music Monday.    Punk Rock from North Carolina, Y'all.    Enjoy!   2. OLD TOWN ZERO - GRAPEFRUIT    A little side project about getting all my old and new music out.    This was me at 19 years young. I'm now 46 and still making silly songs.    MxPx back in the day helped me learn guitar as I was figuring out your early years songs.    Something fun, not for the fame, but for the enjoyment.    Finally in a place in life, putting myself out there to the world.    Would love to be able to be featured on Music Monday.   3. LAST CHANCE MARIE - WESTBOROUGH    Punk rock band from Bellevue, Ontario.    Have been around since 02/2007 with no signs of giving up.    Would love your thoughts on our latest track.   4. THE BOY DETECTIVE - UNREALIZED GAINS    Submitted by Brandon.    No additional information provided.   5. GRUNGE PUNKS - ASHES FOR BREAD    Grunge punk from the Fall Blues EP.    Grunge Punks is my punk rock heavy music side project.    Written and recorded by Aaron Reynolds, mixed and mastered by Jason Wisdom, released by the Charyn Collective.   6. WHAT YOU'RE MADE OF - WHAT DOES MARCUS WALLACE LOOK LIKE    A band from Sydney, Australia.    All about big sing-alongs and good times.    This is an older track of ours, but sums up pretty well what we sound like.   7. LYCHEE CAMP - LET'S GO SURFING    Submitted by Joe Markey from Florida.    Self-produced music and video, DIY or Die.    The kids are supposed to be little versions of us going around town in Tampa and getting into some hoodrat activities, gambling, vandalism, those kinds of cute harmless things.    A cover by a band called The Drums.   8. LET ME DOWNS - BROKEN PROMISES    Second single from the new Let Me Down's album North by Southwest.    New album released January 23 on Felony Records.    From the PNW, Tacoma represent.    Song has a kinda long lead into it.   9. One of the bigger comebacks of the year has finally arrived. We recently welcomed frontman Jason Wisdom of metalcore fan favorite Becoming The Archetype. Fresh off a 10 year hiatus, Jason talks about the perfect timing in releasing the band's most complete album, “Children Of The Great Extinction.” Prior to the hiatus, BTA graced the metal realm by storm while performing alongside other major acts such as Parkway Drive, August Burns Red, and Demon Hunter to name a few. Possibly not the best time to break into a hiatus while your band is gaining prominence, but dropping an album of this caliber with a promising history is as if you are picking up right where you left off. Jason talks about this and how he feels grateful to be given this chance to continue making the music he loves. Not only that, but joining forces with his previous bandmates Seth Hecox and Brent Duckett proved to be the right moment in a significant 2020. Lastly, we also ask Jason about his experience outside of music, and it is that of being a teacher and how it's been a great privilege to lead the younger generation into bigger things. There is definitely a level of pride and humility in Jason's craft. Becoming The Archetype are back, and bigger and heavier than ever before. Tune in now and be sure to buy and stream the highly-anticipated album, “Children Of The Great Extinction,” out now worldwide via Solid State Records.Stay connected with Becoming The Archetype, visit: https://www.solidstaterecords.com/bta, https://www.facebook.com/becomingthearchetypemusic and https://www.instagram.com/becomingthearchetype/Stay connected with IUF, visit: https://interviewunderfire.com/

Jason Wisdom himself falls into a certain archetype. A Tooth & Nail kid with a uniquely-wired mind who was inspired by bands like MXPX and Zao - and the range of possibilities for mixing various styles, genres, and mediums of expression that is permitted in the underground scene. Becoming the Archetype began in 2005 and released records until 2012. They are now back in full force after a decade-long hiatus with a new concept record entitled Children of The Great Extinction. Please join us as we discuss the entire history of the band from its humble origins to the recently-released 6th full-length release on Solid State.

After a couple of months off, we're back with our first interview of 2021. Lazarus Complex play an explosive combination of death metal and hardcore that even goes as far as peppering in some progressive metal influences to keep things fresh. The band is made up vocalist / lyricist / bassist Jake Schultheis and guitarist / drummer / bassist Joe Murphy and our based out of Massachusetts and New Jersey. Their latest single, "The Redeemer," caught my attention after I noticed Jason Wisdom of Death Therapy and Becoming the Archetype did guest vocals for the track. Being a big fan of Jason and his bands, I gave the song a listen and discovered there was more to this duo than just a special guest vocalist. They deliver a bludgeoning dose of extreme metal that fans of Impending Doom, early Embodyment, Whitechapel, and Thy Art is Murder will immediately latch on to. I had the opportunity to chat with both Jake and Joe from Lazarus Complex recently. Guess what we talked about? If you said movies, music, and more, then you would be correct. Who are there favorite music artists? What superheroes excite and inspire them? These questions and more are answered in the interview. You can get more info about Lazarus Complex on their official Facebook page. Be sure to visit www.moviesmusicmore.com for the latest entertainment news.

This discussion with Jack Hoey III is based on a documentary (see below) that proposes the possibility of an evil spirit (Kundalini) infiltrating the church and actually be mistaken as the third member of the trinity (Holy Spirit). Are some of the Christian leaders talked about in this video be actually rejoicing over movements of Hindu spirits? You make the call. Chapter 81: "A Guarenteed Cure " ...as read by Jason Wisdom of Death Therapy Mr. Jason Wisdom, formerly of Becoming The Archetype, has moved on. Most folks join a new band or perhaps start a new one. Nope. Jason started a solo project. By himself. Nothing but bass. Decisions no longer fall on a group of people they fall on one...in a 99' Suburban...but NOT in red tank tops. We got some big news in here: Andrew Schwab of Project 86 is a guest vocalist on the upcoming album, Jason has signed Death Therapy with Solid State and the album should be coming out in February. There we go. You heard it here. Jason has gotten this thing off the ground and is now touring with Project 86. It's a honor that he let some cats out of some bags here. Thanks, buddy! Oh, there's also a never before heard demo of Becoming The Archetypes' "Epoch Of War" that was recorded in my house in 2006. No big deal. Wink. Pastor Bob Harper and Jason Wisdom (formerly Becoming the Archetype) bring their expertise and years of study about End Times to challenge the stereotypical “trumpet sounding, twinkling of an eye, 666, antichrist” approach to Revelation. We also talk about whether the dead are with Jesus right now or are they waiting in slumber, how long will Jesus take to come back, and were there real zombies when Jesus rose (Matthew 27:52) Check out Jason Wisdom’s new band: deaththerapy.org deaththerapymetal.bandcamp.com For more theology discussions with Jason, go to: becauseitstrue.com For more theology discussions with Bob, go to: bobharper.org venturavineyard.org

It’s amazing how Jason Wisdom is so optimistic when so much can go wrong. Isn’t it funny that when we look back on an adventure, the good stuff rises to the top of our memory? The bad stuff, the incidents, the forgotten passport, the lost phone- they all disintegrate into positivity. The funniest parts of stories.  In this episode, Jason tells us about his time on the island of Bali, Indonesia- the ups, the downs, and gives a great insight into life on the island. As always, he is accompanied by music and sounds that really allow the story to come to life and take us along the journey with Jason. Well, it's here. The official craziest tour story we've ever heard here at ATSG. Jason Wisdom mins the story and tells us about the highs of being in Becoming The Archetype as well as the lows of not being in Becoming The Archetype. Jason tells us a little about how the Solamors album hit him at the perfect time and...and at the same time had to be hidden as much as possible. Jason Wisdom becomes a Bible teacher. He then feels a different calling on his life in "RYFO". RYFO [rye-foe] is a non-profit advocate for outreach to musicians. So, ladies and gents, Jason Wisdom climbed just about as Christian metal guys can get and now he is on a mission to help the very industry that made him who he is. Listen up, this is a GOOD story. One of the more successful Solid State bands, Becoming The Archetype hits close to home. They've always been our brothers from Georgia. Trav's guitarist Alex from Aletheian joined BTA for an album. BTA slept in our home a number of times, recorded in the first incantation of Trav's studio, made a Solamors album with Jason and Alex. (Haha...just the site of Jason Wisdom sleeping in my kid's room...hilarious.) Anyways...Seth Hecox has been one of our friends for over a decade. Follow his story as we learn about his secret love for folk/electronic music...so much so he's experimenting with blending the two. This guy played with Five Iron Frenzy and opened for Reel Big Fish! He loves baseball...I mean LOVES baseball. The Hecoxes (what's the plural on that?) are expecting another baby. We learn about some of the interesting facets of working in a Lutheran church. Seth has some Becoming The Archetype news...you gotta listen. One last thing: There is a great guy out there named Jonathan Dick. He writes a lot and if you're into music you may have already read some of his stuff. His daughter is suffering from a respiratory disorder called ciliary dyskinesia.
