One of the bigger comebacks of the year has finally arrived. We recently welcomed frontman Jason Wisdom of metalcore fan favorite Becoming The Archetype. Fresh off a 10 year hiatus, Jason talks about the perfect timing in releasing the band's most complete album, “Children Of The Great Extinction.” Prior to the hiatus, BTA graced the metal realm by storm while performing alongside other major acts such as Parkway Drive, August Burns Red, and Demon Hunter to name a few. Possibly not the best time to break into a hiatus while your band is gaining prominence, but dropping an album of this caliber with a promising history is as if you are picking up right where you left off. Jason talks about this and how he feels grateful to be given this chance to continue making the music he loves. Not only that, but joining forces with his previous bandmates Seth Hecox and Brent Duckett proved to be the right moment in a significant 2020. Lastly, we also ask Jason about his experience outside of music, and it is that of being a teacher and how it's been a great privilege to lead the younger generation into bigger things. There is definitely a level of pride and humility in Jason's craft. Becoming The Archetype are back, and bigger and heavier than ever before. Tune in now and be sure to buy and stream the highly-anticipated album, “Children Of The Great Extinction,” out now worldwide via Solid State Records.Stay connected with Becoming The Archetype, visit: https://www.solidstaterecords.com/bta, https://www.facebook.com/becomingthearchetypemusic and https://www.instagram.com/becomingthearchetype/Stay connected with IUF, visit: https://interviewunderfire.com/

My chat with Jason Wisdom, vocalist/bass player for Death Therapy (formerly of Becoming the Archetype). We go over the origins for the band name, what lead Jason to start up this more industrial style metal band. We also touch on Jason's love of early video games, specifically the music in them, and lyrical theme for the recently released Death Therapy album. Chapter 93: "The Podcast Before The Calm..." ...as read by Jason Wisdom of Death Therapy, formerly of Becoming The Archetype (Recorded on Friday February 17th , 2017) Hopefully this will be the last time we hear from Jason Wisdom for a while, AMIRITE? Totally kidding. One of my loveliest friends comes back for a third time to do a track by track of his new Death Therapy album "The Storm Before The Calm"...out on Solid State on Feb 24th, 2017. Pre-order here: http://flyt.it/DeathTherapy Jason and I discuss everything from a man's walk with God, a lil' bit o' sports (sorry, Jeremy!) to video games. Chapter 81: "A Guarenteed Cure " ...as read by Jason Wisdom of Death Therapy Mr. Jason Wisdom, formerly of Becoming The Archetype, has moved on. Most folks join a new band or perhaps start a new one. Nope. Jason started a solo project. By himself. Nothing but bass. Decisions no longer fall on a group of people they fall on one...in a 99' Suburban...but NOT in red tank tops. We got some big news in here: Andrew Schwab of Project 86 is a guest vocalist on the upcoming album, Jason has signed Death Therapy with Solid State and the album should be coming out in February. There we go. You heard it here. Jason has gotten this thing off the ground and is now touring with Project 86. It's a honor that he let some cats out of some bags here. Thanks, buddy! Oh, there's also a never before heard demo of Becoming The Archetypes' "Epoch Of War" that was recorded in my house in 2006. No big deal. Wink. Bruce Fitzhugh of Living Sacrifice and Alex Kenis (formally) of Becoming The Archetype join Trav to discuss MEGADETH!!! Today is the 25th Anniversary of Megadeth's album 'Rust In Peace" and we are celebrating with a Megadeth party. We covered 'Holy Wars...The Punishment Due". Just because. We talk all things Megadeth and even poke fun at some of it. But it's Megadeth. It is part of our bloodstreams. This chapter of ATSG kicks off more than a Megadeth celebration. We are turning a corner. Below you will find links to all of our new neat stuff. We gots the youtube now. We started a Patreon account (in case Megadeth sues us). We have a podcast band camp page where these types of projects and exclusives will live. Stephen...let's not forget Stephen...he wasn't involved with this because he is working on a second branch of the podcast with special content. Seriously, ya'll...this ATSG is gonna be a 24/7 party. Why? Well...you know. Bye-bye. Chapter 25 Show Notes: Our new Patreon. Sure there are a lot of musician stories, but how many of them ACTUALLY walked away from college to do it? Daniel Gailey has that exact story. Dan had a full wrestling scolarship to college and opted to shred guitars instead. It is so great to see how far he has come in such a short amount of time. Dan Gailey seems to have a niche of being able to step in, learn quick and improve upon the guitar in metal bands. This 26 year old is an old metal soul who isn't ashamed to solo. Oh...and there's a little tease with some BTA news...shhhh....it's a secret... Onto Phinehas, who are poised to become the next kings of the Christian metal mountain. Dan has had one, no that isn't a typo, one live practice with Phinehas. One. Think about that. Phinehas is unashamed, proud and just crushing every tour in their path including the next biggie in October. Thanks so much to Seth W for joining me and Amy from Atom Splitter PR for setting this all up. We love Dan, and Seth, and Amy, and you. Take care. Bye-bye. Well, it's here. The official craziest tour story we've ever heard here at ATSG. Jason Wisdom mins the story and tells us about the highs of being in Becoming The Archetype as well as the lows of not being in Becoming The Archetype. Jason tells us a little about how the Solamors album hit him at the perfect time and...and at the same time had to be hidden as much as possible. Jason Wisdom becomes a Bible teacher. He then feels a different calling on his life in "RYFO". RYFO [rye-foe] is a non-profit advocate for outreach to musicians. So, ladies and gents, Jason Wisdom climbed just about as Christian metal guys can get and now he is on a mission to help the very industry that made him who he is. Listen up, this is a GOOD story. One of the more successful Solid State bands, Becoming The Archetype hits close to home. They've always been our brothers from Georgia. Trav's guitarist Alex from Aletheian joined BTA for an album. BTA slept in our home a number of times, recorded in the first incantation of Trav's studio, made a Solamors album with Jason and Alex. (Haha...just the site of Jason Wisdom sleeping in my kid's room...hilarious.) Anyways...Seth Hecox has been one of our friends for over a decade. Follow his story as we learn about his secret love for folk/electronic music...so much so he's experimenting with blending the two. This guy played with Five Iron Frenzy and opened for Reel Big Fish! He loves baseball...I mean LOVES baseball. The Hecoxes (what's the plural on that?) are expecting another baby. We learn about some of the interesting facets of working in a Lutheran church. Seth has some Becoming The Archetype news...you gotta listen. One last thing: There is a great guy out there named Jonathan Dick. He writes a lot and if you're into music you may have already read some of his stuff. His daughter is suffering from a respiratory disorder called ciliary dyskinesia. Everyone knows about crowd sourcing, but we're betting not many people actually understand how it works. Alex Kenis, brainchild of metal outfit Solamors (including our own dearest Trav) ran a very successful campaign raising over $6,000 for an album. Wanna hear how it went?
