September is Suicide Prevention Month — a time to raise awareness of this urgently important crisis. Suicide impacts persons of all genders, races, ethnicities, religions, and other demographics. This month is an opportunity to shift public perception, spread hope, and share vital information to people affected by suicide. If you are reading this and feeling discouraged, or experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988 immediately.For this episode of Faith Talks we are sharing a conversation Jennifer Farmer had with Desmond Meade. Meade is a formerly homeless returning citizen who overcame many obstacles to eventually become the President of the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition (FRRC), Chair of Floridians for a Fair Democracy, a graduate of Florida International University College of Law, a Ford Global Fellow, and a 2021 MacArthur “Genius” Fellow. Recognized by Time Magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2019, Meade presently leads efforts to empower and civically re-engage local communities across the state, and to reshape local, state, and national criminal justice policies. As President and Executive Director of the FRRC, Meade led the successful passage of Amendment 4, a grassroots citizen's initiative which restored voting rights to over 1.4 million Floridians with past felony convictions. Amendment 4 represented the single largest expansion of voting rights in the United States in half a century and brought an end to 150 years of a Jim Crow-era law in Florida. But Meade didn't start out with all these awards. In this video, we talk about his experience considering suicide. In this touching segment, he makes an appeal for all of us to see the humanity in persons who've made mistakes, made amends for those mistakes, and are striving to live with peace in dignity. Now please settle in and enjoy this conversation.

Seasons greetings! We are on the cusp of ushering in the New Year. I hope you’re finding some time to take a breath, chillax and slow the chaotic pace of the holiday season. Speaking of changing pace and not racing so much, my guest this week, Jennifer Farmer, shares her experience with setting a work pace that is sustainable, practicing grace while redefining her flow, and so much more. Jennifer is an author and leading professional in communications strategy, an industry known for moving at breakneck speeds. Jennifer’s debut book, "Extraordinary PR, Ordinary Budget: A Strategy Guide" was released June 2017. She is the managing director of communications for PICO National Network, and the founder of Spotlight PR LLC, a boutique communications consultancy which provides strategic communications counsel and public relations coaching. She is one hard-working woman. Not only do we talk about work pace, we talk about her work at PICO National Network, a faith-based community organization, and how she transitioned from working in politics to communications. She also talks about PICO’s Live Free Campaign, which addresses gun violence and mass incarceration in many cities across the United States. Because much of what Jennifer does is mission-focused, advocative and so very humanizing, she always feels drawn to do more. When she was heading straight towards a major burnout, she had to assess what was happening and to turn everything around. Jennifer and I cover so much ground about what it’s like to achieve without overworking. I truly hope that you come away from this podcast with some clarity, inspiration, calm or a combo platter of all three. The episode is ready for your listening pleasure. Grab a cup of hot tea (or your favorite beverage of choice), get cozy, and press play. "In today's episode, we'll be discussing a question we've gotten from so many of you over the past few months: 'Where has Bob been?' I'll explain exactly where I've been, the exciting new endeavor I've started, and the part I believe my spirit guides played in all this. "Also in this show, I interview psychic and medium Jennifer Farmer. It’s an intimate conversation between us because Jennifer and I have known one another for over 8 years, and because I interviewed her right in my studio. Jennifer shares with us how she comforted her own grief after her father’s passing, why that difficult loss helped her to better work as a medium, and how two tragic shootings inspired her to create a tool for others to comfort and heal their grief. "Jennifer gave me an extraordinary reading eight years ago, and we’ve been working together ever since. In this show, she candidly reveals why the Florida and Texas shooting tragedies inspired her to create a tool to help people find peace in suffering. This resulted in the special program for the bereaved that she created for this purpose, which I personally used with fascinating results. We also chat about intuition, signs from spirit, and creating a new relationship with our deceased loved ones. Jennifer even shares the spiritual signs that led her to quit her safe corporate job to serve full time as an intuitive and medium. Jennifer Farmer is an intuitive, medium and spiritual teacher whose greatest passion is empowering you to embrace joy and inner peace through the deep healing of spiritual readings, teachings and guided meditations. I first learned of her work a couple of years ago by way of one of her guided meditation videos on YouTube. Amidst my early exploration of a higher level of awareness and at the time I was first dipping my toes into the pool of an initial practice of meditation, I somehow found Jennifer voice, approach, and energy rather soothing and appealing. I have been a fan of her work ever since and am truly grateful that I got the chance to connect with her for this conversation. Among the many things that stood out for me from my time with Jennifer were: 1. Choice over your view of your experience. She talked about deciding to view the world as a friendly place, and putting to use effective tools to maintain and nurture that view, such as counselling, meditation, prayer, action & service to others. 2. The other side of that choice, and what it represents. She noted how some people choose to come at life through a lower energy frequency, using things like blame, guilt and regret to shape their view. In that case, Jennifer suggests that such a person is “learning to connect to life through suffering,” and she suggests that, while EACH of us will encounter some form of suffering along the way, how LONG we suffer can be optional. I find that hopeful and empowering. 3. She shared three main things that are essential tools for success: Awareness, Learning How to Control Your Mind, and the Ability to Let Go & Renew, which we discussed at greater length. There was SO much else to soak, such as what she shared about “Energy Management” and how “at a spirit level, we’re all the same.” I also noted when she shared that she gets messages when she’s in a calm state. I found that interesting, as I rarely feel inspired or intuitive when I’m frantic or exhausted. I hope you enjoy the conversation with Jennifer Farmer! ©2016 Kevin Bulmer Enterprises
