Are unbelievers sometimes more kind, more compassionate, and more sacrificial than those who claim to follow God? In this powerful and convicting message, we dig into Jonah 1:11–16 and discover how a group of pagan sailors responded with more conscience, compassion, and reverence than the prophet of God himself. Join us as we explore the themes of conviction, conscience, and the difference between temporary goodness and eternal impact. You'll see how even a reluctant prophet can't outrun God's mercy—and and you'll be challenged examine your own heart and actions. Are your prayers, sacrifices, and vows an attempt to get what you want from God, or a genuine response OF devotion TO God? Whether you're struggling with resentment toward "enemies," wondering why non-Christians sometimes seem more compassionate than believers, or trying to understand the difference between good works and godly works – this message will challenge and transform your perspective. Ever felt like running away from God instead of toward Him? You're not alone — Jonah did too. This week, we're kicking off a brand new series, Running From God, by diving deep into the first three verses of the Book of Jonah. It's easy to think the Old Testament shows a harsh, angry God, while the New Testament shows a loving, merciful one. But what if God's character — full of mercy, grace, and justice — has always been the same? In today's message, we meet Jonah, a real prophet with a real choice: obey God's call to warn Nineveh… or run. Spoiler: he ran — and many of us still do the same today. Whether it's through avoiding church, ignoring God's Word, or fleeing from hard conversations, running from God only distances us from His heart for restoration and redemption. Don't miss this powerful reminder that even when we run, God still runs after us with His mercy. Scripture List: Jonah 1.1-3 2 Kings 14.25

That's exactly what Jesus talks about in the Parable of the Wedding Banquet. In this Easter message, Scott walks us through the story and reveals the heart of a God who's not just holy, but joyfully inviting us to the party of a lifetime. Why did the cheers of "Hosanna!" on Palm Sunday turn to cries of "Crucify Him!" just days later? The answer reveals a critical challenge to our faith today. Join us as Scott walks us through Luke 19 and the Triumphal Entry of Jesus—not just to tell the story, but to challenge us: Are we truly ready to follow Jesus, even when it doesn't look like victory yet? Too often, our faith becomes conditional—built on performance, miracles, and blessings. But what happens when Jesus doesn't meet our expectations? Will we still praise Him when He doesn't fix our lives the way we want, or are we just like the crowd whose “Hosanna” turned to “Crucify Him”? In this sermon, you'll discover: Why Jesus rode a donkey (It's more significant than you think!) The real reason the crowds praised Jesus (and why their faith was so fragile) The shocking contrast: Why Jesus WEPT while the crowds CHEERED. How unmet expectations can shipwreck your faith. The inescapable truth: True peace and resurrection life require a death first – dying to our sin and selfish desires. Are you celebrating Jesus based on who He truly IS, or only on what you want Him to do for you? Is your faith conditional? This message challenges us to confront the kind of "death" that leads to authentic, everlasting life found only in Jesus Christ. Don't miss this crucial message as we journey toward the cross and the empty tomb. There is no Easter Sunday without Good Friday. There is no Resurrection without Death. Who do you say Jesus is? There is no more important question and it's the question that is before us today as we wrap up our series on the Sermon On The Mount. Jesus has been showing us what it looks like to live under his authority, in his Kingdom. Through it all Jesus calls us BE DIFFERENT. Different from the religious and the rebellious, different from the self-righteous actors and the unrighteous heathens. To be people who live by his righteousness, a right relationship of love with God and others that comes from being transformed from the inside out. Was Jesus right? Does he have the authority to tell you how to live? And if so, what are you going to do about it? There is no greater question. You can email us at online@orchardhillschurch.org.
