The producer and DJ Nina Kraviz is one of the most famous and successful artists in the techno world. Born in Irkutsk, Siberia, she fell in love with electronic music through listening to radio transmissions. Kraviz initially moved to Moscow to study dentistry, and after a brief stint in her band MySpaceRocket, she went solo with a string of productions on Efdemin's Naïf, Jus-Ed's Underground Quality, and Matt Edwards' Rekids. Her 2011 single “Ghetto Kraviz” and subsequent eponymous debut album catapulted her to into the spotlight, but she continued building her legacy as a champion of the underground with her expertly curated трип label. We spoke to Kraviz hot off the release of her new single “Skyscrapers”—her first solo release since 2019, and a bold journey into pop music. In this rare interview, Kraviz talks about her connection to home, her unusual career journey, and her love of the pop sounds of Roxy Music and using her voice as an instrument.

Italy's I-Robots is one of the most prolific re-editers in the game, putting out a slew of official reworks via his Opilec Music label. With his DJ career stretching back to the early '80s and with a sideline as a second-hand record dealer, his knowledge is impeccable. Uncovering rarities and forgotten gems, he manipulates tracks in both classic chop 'n' splice edit style and also in more complex arrangements. This mix is a journey through his edit suite. *How would you describe your sound?*"Nomad Sound" for sure... Eclectic freestyle without "Taboo" *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*After a complete life spent in digging and collecting music i could say that i take inspiration from all kind of interesting sound, artist, label, nationality.... It was the first and only tak done... Fresh for February 2018! I'm catching up! On a somber note, a special R.I.P. to the House Music pioneer Boyd Jarvis. His passing happened just as I finished this episode. I may do a tribute in a later episode.
Happy New Year and welcome to the first Inside My Head of 2018. Episode 3 features music by Fred P, Switch, Jus-Ed, Dorian Concept, A Tribe Called Quest and more.
Fred Peterkin is a man of many names; best known for his work as Fred P he also releases under Black Jazz Consortium, FP-Oner, FP197, Anomaly, the list goes on. But no matter what name he picks for each project there's an unmistakable sound that runs across all his work, and that sound is born from a passionate and unending dedication to underground house music. Hailing from New York City Peterkin has released an impressive number of records over the past decade working with labels like Jus Ed's Underground Quality and Mule Music alongside his own imprint – Soul People Music. And, while his style is deeply rooted in house music, he is by no means limited to the genre. As well as producing, he's also a natural DJ who blends expertly applied craft with a simple musical intuition that can't be taught. With an album under his Adventures of Captain P moniker dropping soon, and him passing through London to play Oval Space, we jumped at the chance to meet up with him in his hotel room and find out what makes him tick. Listen to the podcast, brought to you courtesy of Rode microphones whom without this would never have been possible...

We head interstate for episode #103 of the DHA Podcast, and call on Brisbane’s Rikki Newton to show us the way. Known for his impeccable taste in house and techno, Rikki has been a stalwart of the Brisbane underground music scene for the better part of a decade. Rikki is one half of Subtrakt Events alongside good friend Adam Swain, which was established in 2007, and has been host to international talents Dixon, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Steve Bug, Prosumer, Smallpeople, Moomin, Oskar Offermann, Jus-Ed, Tornado Wallace, Move D and Fred P. In conjunction with members of the Kana, White Rhino and Let’s Get Minimal collectives, Rikki is launching the Andromeda Festival - a boutique open-air electronica event set to take place on November 22nd-23rd 2014 at Ivory’s Rock in South-East Queensland’s Scenic Rim. With an edgy music policy and creativity first approach, it will be a breath of fresh air to audiences looking to break from run of the mill festival line-ups. If you were wondering what the definition of deep house is, simply have a listen to this mix. It is one of the most perfect selections of deep house we have heard in quite some time. With a distinct NYC feel to it, Rikki features tracks from some of the great producers and labels for house and techno, including Fred P, Patrice Scott, Amir Alexander & Steven Tang. www.chubbymusic.com Chubby! on Facebook: www.facebook.com/chubbyrecords @ernie-minuendo-recordings Influenced by electronic music of the late 80's and the Old School hip hop culture since he was young, it was in '95 when he got this first contact with Madrid's underground scene, where he got a huge dose of it and new electronic influences as an attendant. This has generated a big interest for him and he decided to take part of the scene himself. While all these years performing in a great amount of clubs, festivals and museums across Europe and South America. His sessions are plenty of a big sense and strong personality, he is lover of vinyl and beatdown sounds, his sessions likes from Dub techno, Deep house, Detroit house, Chicago to Disco & Funk. In 2004, he created Minuendo Recording with C. Gonzalez, one of the most multifaceted and alive in the actual electronic underground scene, putting together in the same label a huge variety of styles, IDM, Deep House, Techno, Ambient, Electro… Joining in their 12" artists such a Antonelli Eclectr, Oscar Mulero, Arcanoid, Juju&Jordash, Patrice Scott, Jus-Ed, Xpansul, Dubbyman, Ricardo Miranda, Lady Blacktronika, Bjak, Cesar Ramirez, Brian Gardner, Satore, Above Smoke, Deymare, 2Deepsoul, Chicagodeep, Taelue, Owen Jay and Melchior Sultana… In this season Minuendo is deeply centred in the black sounds, Deep house & Disco music. Ernie has also published for other labels like Deep Explorer Music, DeepArtSounds, Bliq Music, Feelharmonic, Prized, Morris Audio Citysport, Contrast-Wax and recently on Batti Batti. INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > www.inverted-audio.com/fred-p Fred P aka Black Jazz Consortium has become one of the key players in New York City's resurgent house scene. Having setup and established his own record label Soul People Music in 2005, he's primarily operated it as an outlet for himself but has also released tracks from the likes of Move D and Jus-Ed. Ahead of his performance in room 2 at Fabric on Saturday 23rd February we caught up with the Fred Peterkin for a short Q+A on his musical heritage, analog gear and forthcoming releases. Fred has provided a suitably deep mix, laden with hypnotic tracks from the likes of Deadbeat, Marcel Dettmann, Norman Nodge, Frozen Border, Truncate and many more. His aim is to create a warm up of his performance at Fabric.
We're honored and excited to introduce Marcellus Pittman to San Francisco. This will be Pittman's debut West Coast appearance. Dj Qu, the man behind the remixes of Joel Alter‘s “Rules Of Love” on Bass Culture, offered us this house music mix for the Bass Culture podcast series. Dj Qu is considered as part of a group of New York house music dj/producers that contributed to the renaissance of the genre in the Big Apple, among Jus-Ed, Levon Vincent, Fred P and the like… making sense considering that Bass Culture boss D’julz had been inspired by the New York scene while living there when he started djing back in the nineties… Subscribe on iTunes / RSS / Newsletter
